Mohammed Siraj scripts HISTORY, becomes first Indian bowler to achieve THIS massive feat
New Delhi: Mohammed Siraj wrote his name in the history book on Friday(July 4) when he became the first Indian bowler to pick up a six-wicket-haul in Test matches in England as well as in South Africa. He accomplished this by taking 6 wickets for 70 runs in England's first innings of second Test in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Big feat for Siraj in Test cricket
Eight Indian bowlers, Ishant Sharma, Amar Singh, Bhagwath Chandrasekhar, Chetan Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Dilip Doshi, Bishan Singh Bedi, and Mohammed Siraj have bowled 6 or more wickets in an innings, of a Test match in England. In the same manner, seven Indian bowlers, namely Shardul Thakur, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble, Jasprit Bumrah, Javagal Srinath, Ravindra Jadeja, and Siraj have joined the Indians who have the same record in South Africa. Siraj is, however, the only Indian bowler who appears in both lists.
Siraj leads pace attack
Bumrah was rested and Siraj led India bowling attack in the second Test on Thursday, by dismissing Zak Crawley on the first delivery of the eighth over of the innings to make it 89-2. He came back later in the morning of Day 3 to make quite and impression as he dismissed Joe Root (22) and then Ben Stokes (0) with back to back deliveries considering that both were caught behind by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.
Harry Brook (158) and Jamie Smith (184 not out) had added a huge 303 between them in the sixth wicket partnership but the pair were eventually separated during the third session as Akash Deep removed Brook. After this, Siraj swiftly ending the tails as he dismissed Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue and Shoaib Bashir off ducks, to end England first innings at 407 runs with 89.3 overs.

2nd Test: Shubman Gill showed how complete a batter he is, says Jonathan Trott
Former England batter Jonathan Trott was left awestruck with India captain Shubman Gill's glittering knock of 161 in the second innings of the second Test against England at Edgbaston. Lauding Gill's marathon knock, which guided India to a mammoth 427/6d and set a target 608 for England, Trott said it was pure dominance from the 25-year-old to show his batting maturity. Gill also played a career-best knock of 269 along with Ravindra Jadeja's 89 in the first essay to take the side to 587. 'I honestly feel privileged to be here and witness that innings. I can't recall him giving the English bowlers even a single chance. The way he shifted gears - hitting sixes at will - without slogging, just pure cricket shots, was something special. Today, he showed how complete a batter he is. It reminded me of the previous Indian number four - almost a carbon copy of that genius. I don't think he could've dreamed of a better start to his first two Tests on this tour. Sure, he'd have liked to win at Headingley, but now he's hopefully set up a fantastic victory here tomorrow," Trott said on JioHotstar. Former India pacer Varun Aaron also talked highly of the visiting captain and said Gill has done a lot of hard work for the England tour. 'Shubman just can't seem to put a foot wrong, and I hope this form continues for as long as possible. But it hasn't happened by chance. He's put in a lot of hard work — even during the IPL — to improve as a red-ball player. He's tweaked his tactics, changed his technique a bit, and you can see the results. When someone as talented as Shubman Gill puts in the hard yards, he steps into that 'legend' territory," he said. Heading into Day 5, India are in a commanding position, with England still requiring 536 runs to chase down a mammoth target of 608 in Birmingham amid rain threat. In the final session of Day 4, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep made early inroads into England's lineup, dismissing openers Zak Crawley (0) and Ben Duckett (25), before removing the world's top-ranked Test batter, Joe Root, within the first 11 overs of the innings. The fiery spell firmly placed India in control as they aim to square the series. On Akash Deep's spirited performance and celebration, Aaron added, 'Akash Deep hasn't had an easy journey. He's from Bihar and had to try for different states because the Bihar Cricket Association has had its struggles. He eventually moved to Bengal - as an outsider - and had to earn his place among locals. He made a name for himself there. Coming from a small town in Bihar and performing like this for India in England, it obviously means the world to him. His celebration said it all - it was his way of saying, 'I'm here to stay'.'

Meenakshi, Sakshi, Pooja Rani, Hitesh and Jugnoo book final berths with dominant display at World Boxing Cup
India's boxing contingent at the World Boxing Cup – Astana, Kazakhstan 2025 will be vying for at least six gold medals on the final day on Sunday after Meenakshi (women's 48kg), Sakshi (women's 54kg), Pooja Rani (women's 80kg), Hitesh Gulia (men's 70kg) and Jugnoo (men's 85kg) registered convincing victories to reach the finals of their respective weight categories on Saturday. India are assured of 11 medals from Astana with Abhinash Jamwal (men's 65kg) still in the hunt for a spot in the final later in the day. Meenakshi started India's march on Saturday with an aggressive display to beat Nurselen Yalgettekin of Turkey 5:0 in the 48kg semi-final. Sakshi then displayed her prowess, landing punches regularly to dominate Feruza Kazakova of Uzbekistan and reached the final of the 54kg weight category by an identical margin. Olympian Pooja Rani then staved off the late charge from Elif Guneri of Turkey in the 80kg category to reach the final with a 3:2 verdict. Nupur had already sealed her final berth in the 80+ category on Friday, making it four Indian women boxers in the finals. Sanju (60kg) was the other Indian women's semi-finalist in action on Saturday. Though she did put her best foot forward against Viktoriya Grafeyeva of Kazakhstan, the Indian ended on the wrong side of the 0:5 verdict and will have to bring home a bronze medal. India had clinched a total of six medals in the first leg of the World Boxing Cup in Brazil earlier this year with only the men boxers competing in that leg. This is the first time that the women pugilists have got an opportunity to showcase their skills at the World Boxing Cup stage and they have grabbed it with both hands. Brazil leg gold medallist Hitesh Gulia looked in trouble after the first round against France's Makan Traore but the 20-year-old landed quite a few punches in the second round to close the gap and then wrapped up the semi-final with yet another convincing display in the third and final round to reach the final. Jugnoo then added to the celebratory mood in the Indian camp with a 5:0 thumping of England's Teagn Scott.

'I will try to score 200 next time': 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi after scoring fastest hundred in Youth ODIs
Vaibhav Suryavanshi of India (Photo by) India's young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who became the youngest T20 centurion in IPL 2025 with the second-fastest century against Gujarat Titans a couple of months ago, has now set another world record. The 14-year-old achieved the fastest hundred in Youth ODIs, scoring a 52-ball century against England U19 on Saturday. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The teenage cricketer has already set his sights on his next achievement. He aims to score a double-century in the upcoming match scheduled for July 7 in Worcester. "I will try to score 200 next time. I'll try to play all 50 overs because the more runs I score, the more my team will benefit," Suryavanshi said in a video posted by BCCI . The young batter, attending the Test match in Birmingham, found inspiration in Test captain Shubman Gill 's historic innings at Edgbaston, where Gill scored 269, the highest score ever by an Indian captain. However, Suryavanshi, when asked, was unaware that he had broken the record for the fastest Youth ODI century. "I didn't know I had made a record. Team manager Ankit sir told me that I have... I was very inspired by him [Shubman Gill] because I saw the game," he said. "Even after scoring 100 and 200, he kept at it and took the game forward. So, I also had it in mind that I could have batted for longer because there was a lot of time, 20 overs were left. I could have extended my innings but there was a shot that I couldn't connect 100% which is why I got out; otherwise, I would have tried to bat as long as him."
