Queen Camilla finds my royal tattoos ‘hilarious', says inked superfan at Sandringham Flower Show
Camilla joked with Phil Smith when he showed her his latest body art by sticking out his left leg covered in royal monograms.
The two met at the annual Sandringham Flower Show where the King and Queen toured the exhibition tents viewing winners in flower arranging, vegetable produce and baking.
Mr Smith, 61, said he first had the late Queen's cypher tattooed on his leg, then above it Charles's monogram followed by Camilla's emblem. Then 18 months ago the King and Queen's cyphers entwined were inked on his lower thigh.
After showing her the newest tattoo he said: 'She finds it hilarious.'
He added: 'That was probably about an hour and a half [to ink], but it was bloody painful."
'I've been corresponding with the Queen since before they got married – we hit it off.'
Hundreds of well-wishers stood behind crash barriers waiting to meet the royal couple with many shouting goodwill messages for Charles, who is receiving ongoing cancer care and who missed the last year's event.
The King joked about his appearance after he was complemented on how well he was looking by a number of well-wishers.
Maria and Graham Sharples from Spalding, Lincolnshire, who regularly visit the show, called out to the King saying: 'We missed you last year, you look very well.'
Mrs Sharples said: 'He came over and said 'it's all done with mirrors'.'
Later, Irene Lane shouted to the King: 'Good to see you're back this year, praying for your good health,' and when she repeated the phrase to the Queen, Camilla made the crowd laugh when she said 'touch wood' and tapped her head.

And while the momentous wedding was a joyous occasion for royal fans everywhere, it appears Diana was struggling with her reality behind the scenes. At the time of her wedding, Diana had only recently celebrated her 20th birthday, and as she admitted ten years later to journalist Andrew Morton, she became incredibly sick the night before the big day, as she suffered 'a very bad fit of bulimia' just hours before walking down the aisle. Between 1991 and 1992, Diana recorded tapes for Morton, which were the main source of his best-selling authorised biography, Diana: Her True Story. In the tapes, Diana revealed the extent of her secret health battle. 'I ate everything I could possibly find, which amused my sister, and nobody understood what was going on there,' said Diana. 'It was very hush-hush. I was as sick as a parrot that night. It was such an indication of what was going on.' When Diana found it hard to sleep the night before the big day, she recalled going downstairs at Clarence House where she spotted a bicycle belonging to the Queen Mother's Steward, William Tallon. Diana leapt on it and cycled around in circles, ringing the bell and singing: 'I'm going to marry the Prince of Wales tomorrow!' Despite her excitement the evening before her nuptials, her mindset had changed when morning broke. 'I was very, very calm, deathly calm,' said Diana. 'I felt I was a lamb to the slaughter. I knew it and couldn't do anything about it. My last night of freedom was with Jane at Clarence House. 'I remember being so in love with my husband that I couldn't take my eyes off him. Diana's pre-wedding illness wasn't the only thing the bride-to-be was contending with the night before the big day, as according to a friend of Diana's, she was left devastated by a confession by Charles as he "did not want to go into the marriage on a false promise". Speaking on ITV documentary The Diana Interview: Revenge Of A Princess, she said: "One of the most shocking things that Diana told me was that the night before the wedding Charles told her that he didn't love her... 'I think Charles didn't want to go into the wedding on a false premise. He wanted to square it with her and it was devastating for Diana. She didn't want to go through with the wedding at that point, she thought about not attending the wedding.' The wedding went ahead as planned, although in a book about Camilla called The Duchess: The Untold Story, royal author Penny Junor claims Charles believed the wedding was a mistake but knew it was too late to pull out. She writes: "Charles was not convinced he was doing the right thing in marrying Diana but there was no way out and, bolstered by the hope that things would be different once they were married, he put a brave face on it." Charles and Diana married in front of 3,500 guests at St Paul's Cathedral in London, with a record-breaking 750 million people in 74 countries across the globe tuning in to watch the event on television. Charles smiled and waved as he arrived for Sunday service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, Norfolk today - without the Queen by his side. The monarch, 76, appeared to be in high spirits as he arrived dressed in a smart grey suit and brown loafers, carrying his own umbrella. The venue is known for being a regular place of worship for members of the royal family, particularly during Christmas time. It is not known why Camilla, 77, wasn't present for today's service. Meanwhile, earlier this week however, the King's wife attended the annual King George Racing Weekend in Ascot, dressed in an elegant in an off-white ensemble. She was also seen recently attending the annual Sandringham Flower Show alongside Charles. The royal couple arrived at the flower show on their estate in a carriage that once belonged to Queen Victoria. They were all smiles as they rode the route lined with members of the public and waved to them as they passed by. Looking well and relaxed in a smart suit alongside his wife, elegant in a black and white flower print dress, Charles looked delighted to be there again after being forced to miss last year's event due to his cancer treatment. The monarch attended the service without Queen Camilla, who was seen yesterday attending the annual King George Racing Weekend in Ascot without the King Many in the crowds commented on how delighted they were to see him back. He added: 'Honestly, she's just great. We exchange letters. She knew who I was. She asked how long it [the latest one] took and I told her about two and a half hours. 'But I told her this one bloody hurt. She just finds it hilarious. 'She pulled her police officer's sleeve and said 'look, it's catching on!' This week marks the last of the royal couple's official engagements before they head to Scotland for their summer break, as per their traditional royal holiday schedule. King Charles is expected to vacation at Balmoral Castle, which was his late mother Queen Elizabeth II's favourite royal residence and where she died in 2022. After a busy summer, the royal couple will be looking forward to a well-deserved rest before their next engagement in September and may prove to be a controversial one. This is because they will be playing host to US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. The president will be paying an official state visit to the UK from September 17 to 19, and will be staying at Windsor Castle. It will come around just over a month of Mr Trump ends his four-day private visit to Scotland, where he is currently staying at his Turnberry resort in South Ayshire. His presence in Scotland, a country he is fond of and owns several golf courses in, has been met by protests carried out by local residents and environmentalists.
