I heard Rog [Wales wing Tom Rogers] out the back so I pulled it back. Thank God it came through."Sherratt praised the adventure his players showed while under intense pressure."That last play summarises it for me," said Sherratt."It would have been easy to go to a safe lineout at the front. We have thrown to the back, run a more risky play. "And Taine Plumtree throws a reverse pass. I didn't intend for him to be that brave, but it worked."Plumtree came on for Cardiff flanker Alex Mann and was one of the second-half replacements who made an impact in the Kobe heat and humidity."As those bench players, you've got to bring energy to those starters," said Plumtree."You know the heat is incredible. It's tough being out there. "One of the jobs for us is bringing that level and trying to bring the boys up to finish off the game."
Worth the wait for Giles
Three new caps came off the bench in Ospreys duo Reuben Morgan-Williams and Keelan Giles, along with Dragons prop Chris Coleman.The moment was especially memorable for Giles who had his first taste of international rugby - nine years after being picked for his first squad.Giles, now 27, was selected as an 18-year-old for the New Zealand tour in 2016.He was an unused replacement in the narrow victory against Japan in November that year and also remained uncapped after being included for the trip to play Samoa and Tonga the following summer.After battling back from significant knee issues and hamstring problems, Giles was picked for the 2024 summer tour of Australia but had to pull out because of injury.Now he has finally realised his dream."It's a massive day for me and my family," said Giles."They made the trip over, which made it extra special. It's unbelievable. "It's been a long time coming. It's almost like a full-circle moment, playing against Japan and being on the bench nine years ago against Japan and not getting on. "So it's an extra special feeling."Giles came on as a half-time replacement for the injured Josh Adams, who had scored a try and created one in the first half."I just wanted to get on the pitch no matter how many minutes I played," said Giles."A win has been a long time coming for fans of Wales. This group has worked extremely hard over the last couple of years. "To get that win, it's almost the monkey off our backs. It's something to build on now."The players have been feeling it, with 18 losses, the players felt it the most. "Now it's time to kick on and get more wins. We're looking forward to the autumn and the future."

Wallabies gun Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii has avoided throwing fuel on the fire ahead of a possible spicy rematch with British and Irish Lions centre Sione Tuipulotu in Saturday's opening Test in Brisbane The star league recruit and the Melbourne-raised Scotland captain had to be separated in a skirmish in their first meeting at Murrayfield last November. Suaalii laid a massive tackle on his opposite number but then stayed down after injuring his arm. Tuipulotu then sledged the rookie Wallaby, who jumped back to his feet and fired back, warning 'I will see you next time' before departing the field for treatment on his wrist. Since then 28-year-old Tuipulotu was cautioned by Wallabies analyst Eoin Toolan, who he knows from his Melbourne Rebels days, to stop talking about the incident as Suaalii was 'raring to go'. With Tuipulotu favoured to start against the Wallabies, Suaalii downplayed hostilities between the pair. 'I feel like there's been a lot of talk around that moment but at the end of the day it's just a game of footy,' the 21-year-old said on Monday in Brisbane. 'I'm a big believer that whatever's said on the field stays on the field. 'I'm just focused on what I can do for the team, that's it. I'm not going to speak on it, to be fair. I always focus on myself first before I put my energy into someone else, and obviously fans want to see a rivalry and all that but at the end of the day, it's a team sport and I'm just trying to do the best for the team.' While Suaalii was reticent to bait his rival, his Wallabies teammate Will Skelton happily chimed in that he could see some fireworks happening at Suncorp Stadium. 'Yeah, that's what you want, no?' the giant lock said. 'You want our 12s going against their 12s, you want our 13s going against their 13s – I think no matter what, it's going to be a physical battle and we're up for the challenge.' Suaalii rated his involvement in the Lions series above his sole State of Origin experience, and said it was the major incentive for his code switch. But Suaalii can carry lessons he learned in State of Origin into the Lions series, after he was sent off just eight minutes into his NSW Blues debut for a high hit on Reece Walsh. 'He did kill it in that 2013 series and that was a big reason it was a dream of mine to play the Lions, because I remember watching him, Kurtley Beale, all these different players do their thing in the game and it sparked something for myself,' he said.

Following the ceremony, Chelsea stars were reunited with their friends and family on the pitch. The final completed a lengthy and successful season for the Premier League side, with Chelsea earning Champions League qualification as well as winning the lucrative Club World Cup and Conference League. The Blues first pre-season match had come nearly a year ago when they faced Wrexham on July 24 in the United States, with their first competitive fixture of 2025-26 held nearly 11 months ago against Man City. Chelsea winger Pedro Neto was embraced on the pitch following the victory by his girlfriend Carolina Cunha e Silva, with the pair pictured kissing while holding the trophy.
