Jio Hotstar on Monday (June 30) unveiled a first-look teaser of Sarzameen, an upcoming Hindi film starring Kajol, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan in the lead. The film, directed by Kayoze Irani, Boman Irani's son, is set to premiere on the platform on July 25.
In the teaser, Prithviraj is introduced as a dutiful yet ruthless soldier, one who goes to any lengths to gun down terrorists in Kashmir. We see glimpses of an intense face-off between Prithviraj and Ibrahim, who plays a terrorist in the film. Meanwhile, Kajol plays a wife who faces immense ordeals in her husband's fight against terrorism.
'Set against the backdrop of an increasingly volatile Kashmir, the film follows Vijay Menon (Prithviraj), known for his unshakeable sense of duty and personal sacrifice. As Meera (Kajol), a strong mother and wife, fights to hold the family together, Harman (Ibrahim) brings a raw, simmering intensity to the role of a young man caught between shadowed memories and unsettling truths,' reads the plotline from Jio Hotstar.
In an earlier interview with Variety, Kajol had opened up on working with Prithviraj and Ibrahim in the film. 'I've worked with Prithviraj [Sukumaran] for the first time, and he's absolutely wonderful to work with, and so was Ibrahim [Ali Khan], so I think it's going to be quite interesting to see both of them on screen,' she said.
Sarzameen is written by Soumil Shukla and Arun Singh. The film has dialogues written by Kausar Munir and Jehan Handa. Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, and Apoorva Mehta produce Sarzameen under their Dharma Productions banner. Star Studios is also producing the film.
