Nagoya woman arrested for allegedly dropping pet Chihuahua from 6th floor
NAGOYA -- A local woman was arrested April 23 after intentionally dropping her pet Chihuahua from the sixth floor of an apartment building.
Kaori Araki, 52, of Nagoya's Minato Ward is suspected of violating the animal welfare law when she allegedly dropped her 19-year-old Chihuahua from the hallway on the sixth floor, where she lives, on April 18. She has reportedly admitted to the allegations.
According to Aichi Prefectural Police's Minato Police Station, Araki was drinking with her friend at home at the time of the alleged act. When the conversation topic turned to the pet dog, she all of a sudden grabbed her dog and went to the hallway. The friend then called the police. The male Chihuahua survived the fall, but sustained brain damage and apparently cannot stand on his own.
The police are looking into details, including the motives.

OSAKA (TR) – Law enforcement in Aichi and Kagawa prefectures have rearrested four men from Osaka City-based commercial sex scouting group Seed Advertising for illegally referring women to soapland bathhouses, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Apr. 16). Takeru Fukuyama, 27, is senior member of Seed Advertising. Police rearrested Fukuyama and three associates for introducing women to a soapland in Takamatsu City, Kagawa. Three other associates were arrested in this case for the first time. Police accused the seven suspects of violating the Employment Security Act regarding introductions for harmful business purposes. Seed Advertising formed in January 2022. From that time until this past March, the group made a total of at least 1.3 billion yen in profits from women's introduction fees and other sources, according to Aichi Prefectural Police. The group, which has up to 10 members, has conducted transactions with approximately 400 adult entertainment establishments in 46 prefectures and administrative districts. It is suspected that freelance scouts arranged for women they recruited on social-networking sites to be placed in adult entertainment establishments and received 15 percent of the women's sales as 'scout kickbacks.' The rearrest charges for Fukuyama and his associates allege that they introduced a woman in her early 20s to a soapland in Takamatsu City around June 11 last year. Fukuyama and his associates had been arrested twice before on suspicion of introducing other women in their 20s to soapland businesses in Kaga and Kofu cities, Ishikawa Prefecture.

Nagoya teen arrested for allegedly making scam calls from base in Myanmar
NAGOYA -- A high school student suspected of making scam phone calls from Myanmar as part of a fraud ring targeting people in Japan has been arrested, Aichi Prefectural Police announced May 24. The 16-year-old from Nagoya's Mizuho Ward had been taken into protective custody by Thai authorities in February after he called his family for help. He returned to Japan where he was subject to voluntary questioning, but went missing on May 19. Prefectural police say they found and arrested him in Saitama Prefecture four days later. Aichi police have twice arrested two other men -- Shoki Ishikawa, 32, and Tomonari Yachi, 22 -- who were at the same scam center in Myanmar allegedly alongside the 16-year-old. The 16-year-old is specifically accused of teaming up with Ishikawa and others to pose as different people including a police officer to call a 46-year-old man from Suzuka, Mie Prefecture, on Jan. 14 while the latter was staying in the United States. The suspect allegedly falsely told the victim that his account had been used in crimes, making him remit 9.9 million yen (approx. $69,400) in cash. Police have not revealed whether the 16-year-old has admitted to the allegations. The student apparently entered Myanmar after a man he came to know over the internet in November last year told him that he "can learn programs abroad." The 16-year-old is believed to have been engaged in fraud by repeatedly making deceptive phone calls alongside eight or so other Japanese nationals, and received rewards for success.

Woman arrested for dropping Chihuahua from 6th floor of apartment building
Police in Nagoya have arrested a 52-year-old unemployed woman on suspicion of violating the animal welfare law after she dropped her Chihuahua from the sixth floor of her apartment building. Police said the incident occurred on April 18 at the building in Minato Ward. According to a Chukyo TV report, the woman, Kaori Araki, was drinking with a friend when the conversation turned to her dog. She suddenly picked up the 19-year-old male Chihuahua and said she was going to drop him to the ground. Araki took the dog out into the corridor, leaned over the railing and dropped it.
