Sydney Sweeney cosies up to mystery man at lakehouse after ending engagement
Sydney Sweeney, known for her roles on Euphoria and the White Lotus, was seen spending time with a mystery companion recently following the news of her split from her ex-fiancé Actor Sydney Sweeney has sparked romance rumours after being spotted getting "close" to someone whilst spending time with family and friends. It comes after the White Lotus star announced the end of her engagement to her ex. Sydney, 27, had been in a relationship with her 'producing partner' Jonathan Davino, 42, for seven years. The Emmy nominee, who's starred in films like Anyone But You (2023), however confirmed in an interview earlier this year that they had separated, three years on from getting engaged. Over the weekend, she was spotted soaking up the sun at her family's lake house in Idaho. Photos from the occasion have sparked rumours of a potential new romance, with Sydney seen spending time with an unidentified individual. Photos, published by the Daily Mail, show Sydney in a black bikini whilst at the lake with family and friends. She was seen venturing away from the group to spend some time with her companion, including on a jet ski together. She's seen steering the watercraft in the photos whilst he sat behind her and held onto her waist. Sydney, who like him was wearing a life jacket, appeared to be in good spirits as she glided through the water at the property, with her seen smiling in some photos released earlier today. Sydney, who is said to have been blushing at times, was also spotted with her companion in another area at the lakehouse that featured a rope swing. Sydney was seen using the swing as the other person watched on nearby. Sydney announced that she was single in an interview with the Sunday Times that was published back in May. It came following much speculation over her long-term relationship with film producer Jonathan in recent years. They had been together for seven years and were thought to be getting married this year. Sydney and her former fiancé are said to have split up in January though and called off their wedding, which was expected to be in May. Amid speculation about their relationship earlier this year, a source told Us Weekly that Sydney is "extremely busy" with her career. Her latest projects include the Housemaid; the film adaptation of the acclaimed novel by Freida McFadden. The source suggested that Sydney's career added tension to her relationship with Jonathan. They said: "Things are also always tense between them when she is promoting a movie because she has to give her full attention to the project, and people always speculate about their relationship and Sydney being close to her costars." Euphoria star Sydney later confirmed their break-up in the interview with the Sunday Times. Speaking about being single, she said at the time: "I'm learning a lot about myself, spending more time with my friends. And I'm loving it."

A Minute With: Musician and writer Tim Minchin looks back
LONDON, July 28, 2025 - Tim Minchin's latest album "Time Machine" is a collection of songs that the now successful 49-year-old wrote, but never recorded, back in his twenties, when he couldn't get a record deal. After gaining critical success as a comedian in 2005, the British-Australian Minchin went on to write the music and lyrics for hit West End musical "Matilda the Musical" and signed with record label BMG in 2020. In an interview with Reuters, Minchin reflects on his new record as well as his songwriting and views on social media. Below are excerpts edited for length and brevity. Q: Your album is out, how does that make you feel? "I feel really reflective. But also I've reached a point in my career ... where I just feel like ... here's my offer ... and because I don't read social media anymore and I won't read reviews, it's just out in the world... And hopefully people listen to it." Q: How would you describe your music? "I think the way I use words is slightly different from a lot of singer/songwriters... Most pop songs, they're broad, you can hear in them what you want ... whereas mine are like - ''oh no, this is what the song's about'." Q: Is there a difference writing music for yourself or characters such as Matilda? "I always feel like in a way, I'm placing myself in someone else's shoes... some of my songs are really personal and they're really about me. But it is a craft - songwriting - and that can mean placing yourself in a particular emotional state." Q: What makes you feel inspired at the moment? "My job is to put good ideas into the world and beautiful stories and make people feel things... That job of spreading empathy and joy and laughter and emotion and if I can do that and feel optimistic ... then I'm one person not being a cynic." Q: Do you wish you had released this album in your twenties? "The greatest thing that ever happened to me is not getting success (then) ... it's terrible for people... I'm very happy that I'm just gently putting these songs out into the world (now)."

Cricket fans swarm Ed Sheeran look-a-like at fourth test match
A man believed to be Ed Sheeran was swarmed by fans at Old Trafford during England's fourth Test against India on Sunday, 27 July. The individual was later identified as Ty Jones, a lookalike who is the spitting image of the pop superstar. Fans repeatedly stopped Jones for photographs as he made his way to his seat. The real Ed Sheeran has distinctive sleeve tattoos, which were not visible on Jones, confirming the mistaken identity. The cricket match concluded in a draw, with England scoring 669 in their first innings and India finishing on 425 for four.
