Watch: Imran Ashraf's Wholesome Interaction with Transgender Fan
The fan, part of Pakistan's Khwaja Sira community, expressed immense gratitude to Imran Ashraf for his respectful portrayal of a trans character, Shammo, in the 2017 drama Alif Allah aur Insaan .
During their moment on the show, the fan expressed how Ashraf is one of the few mainstream actors who treat everyone with respect, regardless of their community or walk of life.
The fan also revealed they had traveled a long distance to personally thank Ashraf for the positive representation of their community in his performance as Shammo.
With emotions running high, they spoke of the profound impact of Shammo and how they will never forget how gracefully he portrayed Shammo.
"This is the first talk show where I have felt respected.'
The exchange took a touching turn when the fan began to choke up while speaking. Imran Ashraf, ever the gracious host, quickly comforted the fan and urged them not to get emotional. In a lighthearted yet heartwarming gesture, he even reenacted a scene from his portrayal of Shammo, which brought smiles and laughter to everyone present.
Ashraf's kind and respectful demeanor won the hearts of many, with social media flooded with praise for the actor. Fans hailed his consistent humility and empathy, calling him 'a true gem of Pakistan's entertainment industry.'
While moments like this highlight positivity, the Khwaja Sira community continues to face immense challenges in Pakistan. According to a 2019 study conducted by TransAction Pakistan , over 80% of transgender individuals in the country face harassment, discrimination, or violence in their daily lives.
Additionally, a report by Amnesty International revealed that many transgender individuals are denied basic rights, such as access to education, healthcare, and employment opportunities.
Despite constitutional recognition under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act of 2018, societal acceptance remains a struggle. Instances of public respect, like the one displayed on Mazaaq Raat , are still rare but vital for fostering inclusivity.
The fan's emotional words and Imran Ashraf's warm response serve as a reminder of the power of representation and respect. By bringing characters like Shammo to life with empathy, Ashraf has set a benchmark in the industry for meaningful representation.
This touching interaction not only highlights the importance of respectful portrayals in media but also underscores how kindness and acknowledgment can have a profound impact on marginalized communities.
Imran Ashraf, through his actions and performances, proves once again that his artistry extends far beyond the screen.

Saima Noor's dance video goes viral
Senior star of Pakistan's film industry Saima Noor has once again become a trending topic online, this time due to a dance clip circulating widely on the social media, Express News reports. The video, posted on various Instagram pages, shows Saima dressed in blue trousers and a light green T-shirt, performing a dance sequence. From the setting, it appears the footage may have been recorded during the shooting of a film song, though it remains unclear which project it belongs to. One of the hashtags linked to the video is "Ishq-e-Lahore", suggesting this could be Saima's upcoming project expected to be revealed soon. However, neither the actress nor the production team has issued an official confirmation. It may be recalled that Saima Noor previously went viral when a gym workout video of hers gained attention online and was largely praised by fans. This latest dance clip, however, has triggered a mixed response. Some users commented that Saima Noor's age no longer suits such a dance performance and that she should focus on delivering quality acting instead. Others, however, defended the actress, stating she still looks beautiful and confident, and that this enduring charisma is her true success.

'Youth fully capable of carrying forward light of literature'
Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Chairperson Dr Najeeba Arif has said that the youth were fully capable of carrying forward the light of literature. In an interview with APP on Friday, she said the two-day second "Nasl-e-No Adabi Mela 2025," hosted by PAL, was "not merely an event but a platform of expression, dialogue, and intellectual freedom." Dr Arif added that through this festival, PAL aimed to provide a rare opportunity for dialogue, learning, and self-expression, projecting a vibrant scene of cultural and intellectual unity. "Literature fosters positive change in human nature, and the festival offered young people a golden chance to learn from their elders," she remarked, referring to 'Nasl-e-No Adabi Mela 2025' that was held on August 12 and 13. The festival brought together young writers and established literary figures from across the country in celebration of Pakistan's Independence Day and Marka-e-Haq. The event was attended by participants from several regions, alongside renowned poets, writers, and international personalities. The festival opened with a flag-hoisting ceremony at PAL's Chamanistan-e-Adab, attended by artist Jamal Shah, National Heritage Secretary Asad Rehman Gilani, and celebrated literary icons including Zehra Nigah, Sahar Ansari, Kishwar Naheed, Waheed Ahmed, and others. Throughout the two days, multiple sessions — including Mitti ka Qarz and Dialogue with Representative Young Creators — explored themes ranging from post-independence opportunities to climate change, cultural traditions, and the responsibilities of young writers. Four training workshops, covering prosody, prose writing, and translation, engaged youth in literary exercises. A major highlight of the festival was the All Pakistan Mushaira, featuring celebrated poets, including Anwar Masood, Iftikhar Arif, Sahar Ansari, Anwar Shaoor, among others. The closing ceremony, presided over by Mahtab Akbar Rashdi with Hafeez Khan as chief guest, praised the youth's literary contributions. Certificates, books, and souvenirs were distributed among participants and distinguished guests.
