Saipan: Eagerly awaited Roy Keane and Mick McCarthy movie trailer released
Hardwicke stars as Roy Keane and Coogan takes on the role of Mick McCarthy, the movie will explore the explosive fallout between the pair during Ireland's 2002 World Cup preparations.
Keane was sent home following the public quarrel with McCarthy and the incident divided public opinion in Ireland about who was to blame.
The newly released trailer hints at a tense and emotional portrayal, including a moment in which Keane's character exclaims, 'You don't ever tell me we're done. I'm just getting started.'
Filmmakers Lisa Barros D'Sa and Glenn Leyburn (Good Vibrations, Ordinary Love) direct from a script by Paul Fraser (Heartlands, A Room for Romeo Brass).
The film is described as "the definitive account of one of the most fractious fallings-out in the history of sport".
The dispute at the heart of the story arose during the team's training camp on the Pacific Island of Saipan.
Keane, Ireland's team captain at the time, voiced frustration at what he saw as substandard training facilities and preparations organised by the Football Association of Ireland (FAI).
Though initially persuaded to stay after expressing a desire to leave the camp, Keane later gave a frank interview criticising the conditions.
Following the interview's publication, McCarthy called a team meeting – during which Keane reportedly launched into a blistering verbal attack.
Keane told McCarthy: 'I don't rate you as a player, I don't rate you as a manager, and I don't rate you as a person.'
He is also said to have added: 'You can stick your World Cup up your a**e.'
Shortly after, Keane was sent home from the tournament and the row triggered a nationwide debate.
The film is produced by Macdara Kelleher and John Keville for Wild Atlantic Pictures (Evil Dead Rise, Cocaine Bear, Black 47), along with Trevor Birney and Oliver Butler for Fine Point Films (Kneecap, Bobby Sands: 66 Days).
Patrick O'Neill, Eoin Egan, and Rachael O'Kane serve as executive producers.
No release date has been confirmed yet, but Saipan is due to be in cinemas this summer.

Grealish's Everton move couldn't be more perfect – just look at David Moyes' history of unleashing gems
Grealish will surprise a few people this season according to a legend TROY DEENEY Grealish's Everton move couldn't be more perfect – just look at David Moyes' history of unleashing gems I LOVE Jack Grealish's move to Everton. In any team, you always need that wildcard in and around a good structure and he can be that guy for David Moyes. 4 Grealish hasn't been himself since helping City to win the treble Credit: AFP 4 Troy Deeney knows a thing or two about bouncing back from adversity Credit: Rex Advertisement 4 He has been working out and keeping in shape all summer- he just needs the trust and consistency to get back to his best Credit: INSTAGRAM @jackgrealish 4 He was key in Manchester City dominating both Europe and the Premier League Credit: Getty It's perfect for Jack – he will be given time and space to express himself. At Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, he was limited by the expectation to pass first instead of looking for the space and attacking it without any shackles. Advertisement It will take a bit of time to get that back because Pep does well to coach that out of you. But Moyes is incredible at unleashing these players. He may be a defensively-minded manager, but he has a history of having these gems within the solid base. READ MORE IN FOOTBALL RED ALERT Man Utd 'agree to sell Jadon Sancho and set to make huge loss on £73m flop' Think of Steven Pienaar at Everton, or Lucas Paqueta at West Ham. Jack has taken a lot of unfair stick recently, and I cannot believe he is being criticised after the role he played for City winning the Treble – just look at his trophy cabinet. Advertisement People think of that iconic, shirtless, outstretched picture on the team bus celebrating the Treble and how it went downhill from there, but that's nonsense. And people don't like to hear it, but when it is a World Cup year, players bring it more than they normally would. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK Jack has given himself a great chance of winning back his England spot in a team that I don't think will be fighting relegation like previous years. And given he will be playing in a brand new stadium, he has a chance to make history and new memories and become a real Everton hero. Advertisement

Roy Keane 'put a marker down' after fellow cruise guests harassed female DJ
Roy Keane has told how he needed to '"lay down a marker" after a group of passengers began harassing a female DJ while on a holiday cruise this summer. Keane was appearing on the first episode of the new season of Stick to Football, and when asked by Jill Scott how he enjoyed his break, Keane revealed that he was almost called into action while on a cruise with his wife Theresa. "I've had a great summer. No tournaments, bit of a break. I went on a cruise and really enjoyed that. "I did (get annoyed on) the first night. I put a marker down on the first night to a few people. They weren't coming up to me but they were just being rude to other people. "They were just being rude to other people, rude to the woman playing the music and getting aggro with her and I stepped in. Listen lads calm down, this is a nice boat remember. "But these lads, about four of them who were about the same age as me, maybe a bit older, they were being really rude to this woman DJ and manhandling her. "And I just went over to them and went, 'Lads just calm down,' so I sat down and four of them came across ready to… 'But no I didn't have them, it didn't kick off but it was pretty close." When Gary Neville remarked that it sounded like Keane was ready for the new season, the Corkman replied in jest saying: "It's like a pre-season game, Charity Shield, studs down the back of somebody. "They were still annoying the rest of the week but I kept my distance. "A few nights later I saw them having a few words with this other guy. "I went over to support him a little bit, but it wasn't as bad as I'm kind of making out." Away from the cruise, Keane looked as though he had a wonderful summer. Last week, he shared a series of photos on his Instagram account of him spending his 54th birthday on holidays surrounded by his children and grandchildren. The Manchester United legend is gearing up for another season as a pundit with Sky Sports, but his family life is also about to get much busier as his daughter, Leah, announced this week that she was expecting a baby with her fiancée, England international and Southampton ace Taylor Harwood Bellis. Keane's third grandchild, a baby boy, was born in April. To celebrate his arrival, Keane posted an adorable snap of the pair on Instagram with the caption "My new grandson, big baby," in reference to one of his most memorable punditry moments.

Ireland end scoring drought but suffer Women's EuroHockey Championship defeat to Scotland
A 3-2 defeat saw the lower-ranked Scots record their first EuroHockey victory over Ireland since 2013, scoring three times in the last 11 minutes for good measure. The riveting finale followed an uneventful three quarters, with Lizzie Murphy making two noteworthy penalty corner saves. Roisín Upton finally opened Ireland's campaign in the 35th minute. It came via a penalty stroke after Katie Mullan was fouled in the circle. Upton was off the pitch when Ireland missed from the spot at a crucial moment in the Germany defeat midweek - although rules dictate that she could have come on - but here she flicked clinically to hand her side the lead. Charlotte Watson equalised courtesy of the same route in the fourth quarter, before Mullan restored parity with a powerful shot nine minutes from time. Moments later and Amy Costello's corner dragflick proved too good for Murphy as Scotland levelled again. Ireland's hopes for another fifth-place finish then evaporated six minutes from time. A crash ball into the D was seemingly left alone by the Irish defence, only for the ball to clatter off the post and Heather McEwan gleefully tapped home. It was an inglorious ending, especially for the hapless Murphy in goal, Ireland's standout player this week. Gareth Grundie's side will now face England in their final classification match on Sunday morning. England, who have finished outside the medals for the fourth edition running, will be looking for their fifth EuroHockey win in succession over the Green Army. Ireland have dropped two places to world No.13 following their pool exit. One respite is that they have earned a place at a 2026 World Cup qualifier tournament.
