Lorraine Kelly pauses show to apologise to Matt Baker's wife after awkward name blunder

Daily Recorda day ago

Lorraine Kelly was left red-faced after she called Matt Baker's wife Nicola by the wrong name before swiftly apologising for the awkward blunder during Monday's show
Lorraine Kelly had to issue an apology to Matt Baker and his wife Nicola during Monday's programme.
In the recent episode, Lorraine, 65, chatted with Matt, 47, about his new series exploring the British Isles, which led to a conversation about Nicola's latest book release.

Nicola launched her third instalment in the Whistledown Farm Adventures, titled Meeting Meg, which hit the shelves on May 8 earlier this year.

But while speaking to Nicola, Lorraine mistakenly referred to her as Rachel, promptly correcting herself with an apology for the slip-up.
Discussing the books, Nicola remarked: "What I really wanted was to try and bring my experiences and things to the books so kids reading it would feel like they're experiencing farm life.", reports the Express.
"That's the lovely thing about writing, you can put whatever you like into it and hopefully it feels real and kids will get a flavour of what farming is."
To which Lorraine replied: "It's gorgeous and the illustrations by Rachael Dean, they're beautiful.
"I always think that really makes a book as well, when you put some illustrations in there."

However, later in the conversation, Lorraine got her wires crossed, saying: "Now you two met when you were babies, right? Teenagers! Had you though, Rachel..." before quickly interjecting: "Sorry, Nicola! I'm getting mixed up! Nicola, were you into farming, were you a farm girl?"
Nicola responded: "No, I wasn't a farm girl, we grew up in the countryside so I loved being outdoors and the outdoor life but farming was something that came to me when we met."

Ex-Blue Peter host Matt Baker was raised on his family's farm in Durham and now resides in an impressive farmhouse in Hertfordshire with his family.
Matt has fronted several farming programmes alongside his family, including 'Matt Baker: Our Farm in the Dales' and 'Our Dream Farm with Matt Baker'.
Matt is now presenting a new series titled 'Matt Baker's British Isles', which sees the former The One Show presenter traverse the four nations, celebrating the remarkable people and jaw-dropping locations that make up our rich tapestry of life.
Earlier this month, Matt hinted at the upcoming show on Instagram, posting: "My new series Matt Baker's British Isles starts Tuesday on More 4 at 9pm hope you can join me to celebrate the wonderful characters that make our home nations what they are. Can't wait for you to see it #England #Northern Ireland #Scotland and #Wales."
Catch Lorraine on weekdays at 9am on ITV and ITV X.

Peter Andre's candid discussion with Princess and Junior about Emily 'situation'

Peter Andre has revealed the moment he opened up to his eldest children, Junior and Princess, about his blossoming relationship with his now-wife Emily Peter Andre has revealed the emotional family discussion he had with his two oldest children regarding his now wife Emily Andre. Peter, who shares Junior, 19, and Princess, 17, with his ex-wife Katie Price, opened up on the chat he had to have with the kids. Writing in his autobiography titled Between Us, Peter said he decided to sit his two kids down to discuss a significant development involving Emily. At the time, Peter said the kids only knew Emily as being a family friend. ‌ However, as an emotional attachment grew, Peter thought it was wise to discuss the changing family dynamics with his kids. Speaking about his children's relationship with Emily, he shared how they had developed an 'amazing bond'. ‌ He said: "So, as our relationship blossomed, the kids only knew her as a friend. But, what a friend. Just as Emily and I had developed this incredible closeness, so the children were creating an amazing bond with her." Peter added: "When the time came, and I knew I was going to ask Emily to marry me, my kids had truly grown to love her, so I had no worries about sitting down with them and explaining 'the situation'." Peter and Emily have since gone on to tie the knot and have three kids of their own together, Amelia, Theo and Arabella. The duo remain blissfully in love, but the Mysterious Girl singer, 52, has revealed one particular mistake which made their almost two decades age difference very noticeable. Writing in his weekly New! Magazine column, earlier this week, Peter insisted the dynamic 'works' for them and joked that age is just a number. However, he did recall one incident where the gap was more prominent. "There's one thing we do laugh about, though…, he explained. "We were at the Pride of Britain Awards one year and Jon Bon Jovi came over to chat. I've met him many times over the years and he's a lovely person. ‌ "He introduced himself to Emily and after he walked away, she turned to me and said, 'Who was that?' I was like, 'Are you serious? It's Bon Jovi.' In the most confused but innocent voice, she said, 'What's a Bon Jovi?' Peter added: "We laughed about that a lot afterwards! It's in those moments we may realise the age gap –usually with music and films – but in general, we love the same things. I think it's what works for you in a relationship. Who are we to judge?"" ‌ The couple were initially introduced through Emily's dad, Dr Ruaraidh MacDonagh, who is a consultant urologist. At the time, Peter was undergoing kidney stone removal surgery He later met Emily, who was a medical student at the time, through the doctor. Two years later they began dating before tying the knot in Devon in 2015.

Chef's 'two secret steps' to make perfect scrambled eggs every time

Professional chef Frank Proto has shared his secret to making the perfect scrambled eggs, and it all comes down to two crucial steps - beating the eggs and cooking them In the UK, scrambled eggs take the crown as the top egg dish, with almost half of Britons (49 per cent) considering it their most favoured way to enjoy eggs, according to Egg Info. Though highly popular, cooking up the perfect scrambled eggs might seem daunting for some. Fear not, as esteemed chef and culinary tutor Frank Proto has divulged his tips on Epicurious' YouTube channel for achieving that ideal plate of eggs. In his instructional video, Proto explains: "We're talking glistening, silky, creamy scrambled eggs - not the dry burnt kind." ‌ READ MORE: 'I'm a fashion writer and found an unlikely retailer selling glitzy festival-ready outfits' He further elaborates on his own preference, stating: "My perfect scrambled eggs are creamy and silky, not fluffy - I don't like fluffy eggs." ‌ Wondering about Frank's recipe for success? He reveals: "Butter, timing, and a little bit of love," is what it takes. To make exceptional scrambled eggs, Frank advises focusing on two main tasks: 1. Beating the eggs properly and 2. Cooking them carefully. 1. Beating the eggs Proto begins by saying: "I have three eggs in the bowl. I'm going to whisk my eggs with a fork, it won't incorporate too much air into the eggs - this way they stay nice and silky, not fluffy." He emphasises: "I like to beat my eggs until they're just combined and then I stop. No extra air in there." 2. Cooking the eggs ‌ Moving on to the cooking stage, he notes: "So I'm going to preheat my pan and I'm using a non-stick pan. But believe it or not, if you don't preheat the pan, the eggs tend to stick." Proto advises on the art of introducing fat, reports the Express. He said: "I like to get some fat or oil in there and then cook my eggs. "My pan is nice and hot, it's over medium heat, I'm going to use a fair amount of unsalted butter - the butter gives eggs flavour and then I can control how much salt goes into them. "You can use vegetable oil instead of butter, but there's no flavour in that."

More info "The Beast" from The Chase, Mark Labbett, experienced an embarrassing moment on Celebs Go Dating when he dozed off during a date. The 58-year-old brainbox, renowned for his sharp intellect and straightforward manner on ITV's hit quiz show, was caught on camera taking a snooze mid-date. The filming for the latest instalment of the Channel 4 dating programme took place last month, where it was noted that the spark was missing between Mark and his date. An insider remarked: "Mark was yawning a lot and drifted off briefly. It was a bit of an awkward moment. It's safe to say there wasn't much of a spark between them." Mark, who previously weighed in at 29st, tied the knot with his second cousin Katie in 2014 but they parted ways after six years. He later found love with TV host Hayley Palmer in 2023, although their relationship lasted only a year, reports the Express. (Image: Getty Images) Discussing his time with Hayley, 43, Mark confided to The Sun: "She's a lovely lady and I was very lucky to date her for a year, and as I said: it's me, I got old." He continued: "There's been no one since Hayley. I'm not saying there won't be another one. But I'm certainly not looking." Delving into his past romantic life, Mark shared: "I was single, not coincidentally, for a long, long time when I was a 29st maths teacher who knew it was quite hard to attract a partner then. So I'm quite comfortable without a partner." Mark's spokesperson provided a witty reply when queried about the date: "If his date was as boring as you have suggested, I'm surprised he didn't take a pillow with him!" (Image: IG) It comes as new research by Betway has found the best Chaser. As of June 2025, there are six official Chasers: Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, and Darragh Ennis. The team analysed factors like accuracy, win rate, and highest target caught, to rank the best Chaser of all time. Financially, Paul Sinha is the Chaser who comes out on top. Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha boasts a 78 per cent win rate across 436 appearances on The Chase. His average target to beat is 19 and holds the highest average Chaser win total, raking in £14,651, making him the most financially successful chaser on the show. Meanwhile, Mark 'The Beast' Labbett has a 76 per cent win rate over 475 episodes since he started in 2009. Labbett holds the record for the highest average target to beat, at 20, and the highest accuracy in the final chase, answering 83% of questions correctly. Topping the ranks as the best Chaser on television is Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty. With 467 appearances and a win rate of 79% - the joint highest of any Chaser - it's no surprise that she's regarded as the most formidable opponent. In the final chase, Hegerty averages 13 correct answers in the 60-second timeframe, with an average target of 19, the second highest among her peers. Celebs Go Dating declined to comment on the incident.
