Broadcast Pro09-05-2025

The new facility will house MBC offices, advanced filming studios and an immersive visitor experience centre.
MBC Group has signed a land transfer agreement with Diriyah Company to develop a new state-of-the-art headquarters in Diriyah, known as 'The City of Earth' and the historic birthplace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This strategic partnership will see the creation of a modern media hub that merges content production, innovation and immersive entertainment in one of the Kingdom's most ambitious giga-projects.
The new MBC headquarters will feature corporate offices, cutting-edge filming studios and a dedicated visitor experience centre, positioning the Group at the heart of Diriyah's emerging business and cultural district, just 15 minutes from downtown Riyadh. The initiative underscores Diriyah's appeal as a prime destination for world-class institutions and reinforces MBC's role as a major force in Saudi Arabia's rapidly evolving media landscape.
Both MBC and Diriyah Company view this collaboration as a key contribution to Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals, aiming to elevate the Kingdom's profile as a global media and cultural hub. The development will be guided by a comprehensive Development Works Agreement between the two parties.
The project will be part of Diriyah's expansive urban development, which is set to house nearly 100,000 residents, create over 178,000 jobs and contribute $18.6bn (SAR 70bn) to Saudi Arabia's GDP. The 14-sq-km development will also include the Royal Diriyah Opera House, Diriyah Arena, luxury hotels, restaurants, retail districts and educational institutions, making it one of the world's premier cultural and lifestyle destinations.
MBC Group, which already operates more than 13 free-to-air TV channels, three radio stations, the Arabic streaming platform Shahid, MBC Studios and MBC Academy, continues to expand its regional footprint. The group launched its Riyadh Diplomatic Quarter headquarters in 2022 and opened advanced production facilities in Al Narjis in 2024, where the first studio began operating in Q3. MBC currently employs over 2,000 staff and remains committed to growing local content creation and talent development in the Kingdom.
Commenting on the announcement, His Excellency Ahmed Al-Khateeb, Minister of Tourism of Saudi Arabia and Secretary General of Diriyah Company, said: 'This partnership is a powerful statement of intent. As Diriyah emerges as a cultural and creative capital for the world, welcoming MBC Group at its heart signals a bold new chapter. Together, we are shaping a future where Saudi Arabia is not only a destination, but a dynamic source of inspiration, storytelling, and global exchange — a place where the world comes to experience the Kingdom, and where the Kingdom reaches out to the world.'
Waleed bin Ibrahim AlIbrahim, Chairman of MBC Group, commented: 'Establishing our new headquarters in Diriyah is part of our commitment to Vision 2030. This step not only expands our regional presence, but also supports the Kingdom's vision to strengthen the media and entertainment sector, foster innovation, and drive progress in the creative industries—especially as the growing demand for high-quality, original Arabic content continues to be a key driver in the development of the media industry across the Middle East and North Africa region.
He added: 'Through initiatives such as the launch of MBC's new studios in Al-Narjis last year, and the establishment of the group's new headquarters in Diriyah, we remain focused on supporting the development and production of local content, investing in local talent, and advancing the media and entertainment landscape at the heart of the Kingdom—enriching the region's creative scene and elevating it to a global level.'
Mike Sneesby, CEO of MBC Group, stated: 'This partnership marks a significant milestone for MBC Group, aligning closely with our long-term vision and growth strategy. Diriyah is rapidly becoming a global hub for culture, creativity and entertainment, and we are proud to be part of this exciting development. Our goal is to create a space where world-class content, creativity, and talent can thrive. We will continue to produce content that resonates with audiences worldwide, while highlighting the Middle East's rich history and culture, with Saudi Arabia at its core.'
Jerry Inzerillo, CEO, Diriyah Company Group, noted: 'We are enormously proud to welcome MBC as our first flagship tenant in the Media and Innovation District launched earlier this year at MIPIM in Cannes. This district will include innovative office space for thousands of professionals in a variety of sectors across the media, technology and the arts industries, as well as residential and hotels offerings found nowhere else but in Diriyah.'

Aramco's $5bn Bond Sale Highlights Investor Appetite Amid Market Volatility

Arabian Post Staff -Dubai Saudi Aramco has successfully raised $5 billion through a three-part dollar-denominated bond issuance, marking its return to the international debt market. The offering comprises five-year, ten-year, and thirty-year tranches, with the longest maturity attracting nearly half of the total proceeds. The 30-year tranche, amounting to approximately $2.5 billion, was priced at a spread of 185 basis points over U.S. Treasuries, reflecting strong investor demand despite prevailing market uncertainties. The five-year and ten-year tranches were priced at spreads of 80 and 130 basis points over Treasuries, respectively. These tighter spreads indicate robust confidence in Aramco's creditworthiness and the broader appeal of long-dated corporate debt. ADVERTISEMENT Aramco's bond sale comes amid a backdrop of heightened volatility in the U.S. Treasury market, with 30-year yields fluctuating due to concerns over fiscal policy and rising national debt. Despite these challenges, investors have shown a keen interest in long-term corporate bonds, as evidenced by similar issuances from Alphabet, Siemens, and Snam, which have also been well-received. The success of Aramco's bond offering underscores a broader trend where investors are seeking higher yields through long-duration corporate debt, even as government bond yields remain volatile. This shift is partly driven by the search for stable returns in a low-interest-rate environment and concerns over inflation and fiscal sustainability. Aramco's move aligns with its strategic objectives under Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 plan, aiming to diversify the kingdom's economy beyond oil. The funds raised are expected to support Aramco's international expansion and investment in non-oil sectors, reinforcing its commitment to long-term growth and diversification. The bond issuance also reflects Aramco's proactive approach to capital management, leveraging favourable market conditions to secure funding at competitive rates. By tapping into the global debt market, Aramco demonstrates its financial resilience and adaptability in navigating complex economic landscapes.

Gulf IPOs Signal Investor Confidence Amid Varied Market Responses

Dubai Residential REIT's debut on the Dubai Financial Market marked a significant milestone, closing nearly 14% higher at AED 1.25 per unit from its offer price of AED 1.10. The $584 million offering, backed by Dubai Holding, attracted overwhelming demand, with the IPO oversubscribed 26 times, reflecting strong investor confidence in Dubai's residential real estate sector. The REIT, focusing exclusively on residential leasing, launched with a market capitalisation of AED 14.3 billion and projects a gross dividend yield of 7.7% for 2025. Analysts attribute the robust performance to Dubai's post-pandemic property boom, bolstered by foreign investment and residency reforms. In contrast, Saudi Arabia's United Carton Industries Co. experienced a subdued market entry. The company's shares fell 1.5% on their first trading day, closing at SAR 49.3, below the IPO price of SAR 50. Despite the IPO being 8.9 times oversubscribed, the stock's performance was hindered by profit-taking and concerns over valuation amid tariff uncertainties. UCIC's Q1 2025 profit declined by 46% to SAR 18.7 million, further dampening investor sentiment. ADVERTISEMENT Looking ahead, Saudi Arabia's IPO landscape remains active. Flynas, the low-cost airline backed by Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, launched its IPO aiming to raise SAR 4.1 billion by offering 51.3 million shares at SAR 80 each. The offering garnered significant interest, with institutional investors oversubscribing 100 times. The IPO, representing 30% of the company's capital, is expected to fund fleet expansion and route diversification, including new services to Damascus.

Stitch Raises $10M to Improve Financial Infrastructure in MENA

Stitch, a Saudi Arabia-based platform for launching and scaling financial products, has announced the close of a US$10 million seed funding round. The round was led by Arbor Ventures, COTU Ventures, Raed Ventures, and SVC, with participation from family offices and industry figures including Marqeta founder Jason Gardner and Abdulmalik AlSheikh, known for his role in establishing the mada and Sadad payment networks in Saudi Arabia. The funding will support Stitch's efforts to expand its team and enhance its technology platform, which aims to simplify the development and launch of financial services. Demand for integrated financial infrastructure is increasing across both the Middle East and global markets. The global banking and financial services industry is projected to grow from US$91.42 billion in 2024 to US$221.39 billion by 2033, at a compound annual growth rate of 10.3 percent. In Saudi Arabia, banking sector assets have reached US$1.12 trillion (SAR 4.22 trillion), while digital payments grew by 75 percent between 2019 and 2021. Point-of-sale transactions in the country totalled US$177.69 billion (SAR 667 billion) in the 2024 financial year. Despite this growth, many businesses in the region continue to face challenges in building financial products due to outdated systems and complex regulations. Stitch aims to address this with a unified, API-driven platform. Currently serving clients in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, the company has also expanded into East Africa, beginning with Kenya. Mohamed Oueida, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Stitch, said: 'Businesses are forced to navigate outdated legacy systems and complex regulatory frameworks, making things slow, expensive, and mostly painful. It does not have to be this way. Stitch exists to change this. Institutions should be able to focus on what matters and have a platform that can mould around their creativity. We are generally looking to make this process a lot more enjoyable for our partners.' Stitch's platform enables clients to develop and launch financial services more efficiently, with the company claiming product deployment times can be reduced by up to 80 percent. Clients include Lulu Exchange, Alamoudi Exchange, Foodics, Dar Al Tamleek, Raya Financing, and Tanmeya Capital, all of whom are using the platform to offer customised financial solutions. Founded in 2022, Stitch has brought together talent from institutions such as FIS, Geidea, Rain Financial, NPCI India, and Al Rajhi Bank, with a focus on long-term innovation in banking and payments.
