It had already been intimated that the Ibrox men had invoked their right to postpone a game in the build up to a European tie for the Paisley clash. If they make it through against Viktoria Plzen, the two legs of the play-off will come either side of the scheduled date of the Buddies game.
However, Russell Martin yesterday cast some doubt on the situation when he claimed no decision had been made and the intention was to play the game that weekend as planned.
Now, the SPFL and Rangers have both confirmed Rangers have withdrawn their postponement request and will play St Mirren on Sunday August 24.
A spokesperson for the league said: "Following further discussions with Rangers, St Mirren, and relevant stakeholders, we can confirm that Rangers have withdrawn their request to postpone their William Hill Premiership Round 3 match against St Mirren if they reach the play-off round of the Champions League.
"The match will now take place as originally planned on Sunday, August 24, kick-off 12 noon, with the game to be shown live on Sky Sports."
A Rangers statement added: "Rangers can confirm our request to potentially postpone our Scottish Premiership match with St Mirren later this month has been withdrawn.
The game will now take place at 12noon on Sunday, August 24 at the SMiSA Stadium and be broadcast live by Sky Sports.
Ticket information will be released to supporters in due course.

Chelsea hit stumbling block in bid to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Man Utd

Chelsea have hit a major stumbling block in their bid to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United. The Blues are keen to bring Garnacho to Stamford Bridge this summer after the Argentina winger was placed in Ruben Amorim's bomb squad. Amorim told Garnacho at the end of last season to find a new club after being left fuming by comments he and his brother made following the Europa League final. The United boss also grew frustrated with Garnacho's performances on the pitch and had already criticised his output in training earlier in the season. Garnacho accepts his Old Trafford career is over but wants to remain in the Premier League and play for a Champions League club. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – sign up, it's an open goal. That has made Chelsea the favourites to secure his signature and Garnacho has already agreed personal terms with the west Londoners. But Garnacho may be forced to look elsewhere for his next club as Chelsea and Manchester United are still £20m apart in terms of their valuations for the player. Despite his presence in Amorim's bomb squad, United are holding out for £50m for Garnacho, once one of the most highly-rated players in the Premier League. The problem, however, is that Chelsea value Garnacho at £30m based on a bid made by Bayer Leverkusen during the January transfer window. This revelation from The Telegraph means Manchester United will either have to slash their asking price or hope Chelsea reconsider and submit a bid more to their liking. Given Garnacho's desire to move to Stamford Bridge, he will hope his current and possible future club can meet in the middle and agree a deal before the transfer deadline. Chelsea have spent another £250m this summer, bolstering Enzo Maresca's squad with the likes of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Jorrel Hato. The Conference League champions and Club World Cup holders are still in talks with RB Leipzig over a deal for Netherlands international Xavi Simons. 'I don't see Alejandro Garnacho as a great fit at Chelsea,' ex-Stamford Bridge star Pat Nevin told football betting site BetVictor. 'Chelsea might do it to make money, but is he going to come and light up Chelsea more than Pedro Neto, whose professional attitude, his work rate he's given for the team has been absolutely fantastic? 'There's a whole bunch of other players in that position. Jamie Gittens has come in, Chelsea also have Estevao from Brazil with a lot of expectation, how many players do you need there? '£50m isn't to be sniffed at, you don't make that much more than that for getting into the Champions League and having a good run. Do you want to spend that on Garnacho who may or may not do okay? 'Also, if it doesn't work at Chelsea and it kind of worked averagely at best at Manchester United, there's no big profit there. So it would surprise me, but I am often surprised by Chelsea.' That transfer may rely on player sales, however, with Chelsea keen to offload Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson. Despite Garnacho's undoubted talent, Ally McCoist believes Chelsea should walk away from the deal with Manchester United. 'I'm not having it, no,' the Rangers legend said on talkSPORT. 'Man United are desperately trying to get rid of him. More Trending 'Stay away. I don't think Chelsea need him at this moment in time. I know [Noni] Madueke's away across the city [having joined Arsenal], but no.' Garnacho has scored 26 goals in 144 appearances for Manchester United since making his debut for the Red Devils in 2022 as an 18-year-old. United are trying to offload Garnacho at the same time as selling Jadon Sancho, a target for a number of Italian clubs, and Antony, who wants to return to Real Betis. Rasmus Hojlund could also be sold following the £74m signing of Benjamin Sesko and has held talks with Serie A side AC Milan. For more stories like this, check our sport page. Wayne Rooney sends message to Liverpool over Alexander Isak transfer

Wayne Rooney has told Liverpool that signing Alexander Isak before the transfer deadline would make them 'unstoppable'. Liverpool's opening bid for Isak, worth £110m, was rejected by Newcastle United, who continue to insist the striker will not be sold. But Newcastle may be forced to soften their stance after Isak threatened to go on strike in order to force through a move to Liverpool. Isak is desperate to join the Premier League champions before the summer transfer window closes and is seemingly prepared to at least partly ruin his Newcastle legacy in order to force the move through. Manchester United and England legend Rooney already rates Liverpool as the 'favourites' to win the Premier League this season but says the signing of Isak would make Arne Slot's side 'unstoppable'. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – sign up, it's an open goal. 'I already have Liverpool as the favourites to win the title this year but if Isak comes in, I think they're going to be unstoppable,' he said on BBC's Match of the Day. 'Look at the quality they've got. 'I think a big thing for Liverpool this summer was replacing Trent [Alexander-Arnold] because he created a lot of chances and goals down that side. [Jeremie] Frimpong has got the attributes to do that. 'So yeah, Liverpool look strong.' Liverpool have already spent around £250m on new signings this summer, bringing in the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Frimpong. More Trending Slot's side finished ten points clear of second-placed Arsenal last season and begin their title defence on Friday night against Bournemouth. While the temptation to join Liverpool is clear to see, Isak has handled his transfer situation 'so badly', according to ex-Newcastle boss Alan Pardew. 'The problem is, he's handled it so badly. He couldn't have handled it any worse,' Pardew told talkSPORT. 'His agents and advisors have said to him to throw down the tools after serving that great football club, and he's doing really bad things to hold them to ransom and more or less force a way out.' And earlier today, Donnarumma's agent Enzo Raiola threatened legal action against PSG for their treatment of the stopper. But both men are sure to have smiled after seeing replacement Chevalier ship two goals in the Super Cup final against Spurs. The first came after PSG's new goalie produced a fine save, only for Micky van de Ven to pounce on the rebound. Fans were quick to comment online that Donnarumma, widely regarded as one of the world's best goalies, wouldn't have made the error in Chevalier's place. One said: 'Dropping Donnarumma for Chevalier is criminal!' Another declared: 'Awful decision to downgrade from Donnarumma.' Despite PSG being 2-0 down with five minutes remaining, they ended up taking the game to penalties thanks to last-gasp strikes from Kang-In Lee and Goncalo Ramos. Spurs then missed two of their spot-kicks, with Van de Ven's effort saved by Chevalier, as PSG lifted the Super Cup in dramatic style.
