Do not support match that includes Pakistan, says EaseMyTrip as key Indian players opt out of India-Pak clash
, a prominent Indian travel-tech company and official sponsor of the
World Championship of Legends
(WCL), has said it will not support or participate in any match involving
Pakistan
. The statement came just days before the tournament's opening in the United Kingdom.
In a direct message posted on X, the company said, "Despite entering into a 5-year sponsorship agreement with the World Championship of Legends (WCL) two years ago, our stance has always been clear—EaseMyTrip will not be associated with or participate in any WCL match involving Pakistan. We proudly continue to support the India Champions and stand firmly by our team. However, as a matter of principle, we do not support or promote any match that includes Pakistan. This position was communicated unambiguously to the WCL team from the beginning. EaseMyTrip supports Team India, but will not engage in any match featuring Pakistan. Let's bring the cup home. Bharat First. Always."

WCL apologises and cancels fixture
The fallout led tournament organisers to pull the plug on the much-anticipated
India-Pakistan match
. In an official statement, the WCL expressed regret over the situation.
WCL explained that the India-Pakistan fixture was initially announced to echo the spirit of a recent friendly volleyball match between the two countries. The idea, they said, was to give fans something memorable.
Live Events
But the reaction wasn't what they expected.
"We may have ended up hurting feelings of many and caused discomfort to Indian legends," the WCL stated, adding, "In the wake of this, a decision to call off the fixture was taken. We apologise for hurting sentiments."
The match was expected to be a high-voltage event, drawing global attention. Instead, it's now off the table.
Cricketers stand their ground
Even before the WCL decision, Indian players had made their stance known.
Suresh Raina
and
Shikhar Dhawan
were among the first to speak out.
Dhawan, in a post on X, shared a copy of the email he sent to the organisers. It dated back to 11 May and made clear he would not play against Pakistan.
The reason was plain. The ongoing geopolitical climate.
In his post, Dhawan wrote, "Jo kadam 11 May ko liya, uspe aaj bhi waise hi khada hoon. Mera desh mere liye sab kuch hai, aur desh se badhkar kuch nahi hota." (I stand by the decision I took on May 11. My country is everything for me and nothing is bigger than the country.)
Sources suggest several other players in the Indian team privately communicated a similar position to the organisers.
A tournament now without its biggest fixture
The World Championship of Legends 2025 is still set to go ahead as planned, minus the India-Pakistan clash. Matches will be played across Birmingham, Northampton, Leicester and Leeds from 18 July to 2 August. The event is sanctioned by the
England and Wales Cricket Board
.
The tournament brings retired international players back to the field in what was expected to be a nostalgic, high-energy series. With the India-Pakistan fixture now cancelled, the spotlight shifts to how the tournament navigates the rest of its schedule.
What remains is a story that blurred the line between sport and national feeling. One match may be off, but the debate it triggered is very much alive.

Central projects will create a ‘developed Tamil Nadu', says Narendra Modi
The Union government-funded infrastructure projects being implemented in Tamil Nadu on an outlay of over ₹3 lakh crore will help the Centre realise its dream of achieving 'Viksit Tamil Nadu', Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday. Inaugurating the new terminal building at the Thoothukudi airport, he said his government, which had promised a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India), was according the highest priority for infrastructure development. Hence, the port, rail and energy sectors were getting an unprecedented facelift nationwide, from Jammu and Kashmir to Tamil Nadu. Mr. Modi said the Centre had released over ₹3 lakh crore since 2014 for strengthening Tamil Nadu's infrastructure to make it 'Developed Tamil Nadu'. This was three times higher than the funding provided by the previous United Progressive Alliance government to the State. He further said the north cargo berth at VOC Port, Thoothukudi; six-lane VOC Port Road; and four-lane Sethiyathope-Chozhapuram Highway would significantly catalyse the trade opportunities and employment generation for the locals. In an apparent reply to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's recent assertion that the Centre was refusing to allocate funds for Tamil Nadu, he said the thrust being given for infrastructure development in Tamil Nadu by the Centre in energy, road, rail, and port sectors would phenomenally expedite the State's growth while achieving the Centre's goal of 'Viksit Tamil Nadu'. He recalled that the National Democratic Alliance government had sanctioned 11 new medical colleges for Tamil Nadu, and the Centre was also developing harbours to improve their livelihood. Terming India's recent free trade agreement with the United Kingdom (U.K.) as 'historic', Mr. Modi said this agreement would open unprecedented export opportunities for Indian products. 'As more than 99% of the 'Make in India' products will be available in the U.K. at lower prices, the rise in demand will increase production in India and generate more employment in the micro and small industries here. It will enhance the world's faith in India, which will become the third largest economy in the world soon,' Mr. Modi said. He added that home-grown weapon systems, which were used in recent 'Operation Sindhoor', had destroyed the terrorists' hideouts and had given sleepless nights to the sponsors of terror. Governor R.N. Ravi, Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan, Tamil Nadu Ministers T.R.B. Rajaa, P. Geetha Jeevan, and Anita R. Radhakrishnan and MP Kanimozhi were among those present. State Finance Minister Thangam Thennerasu presented a memento to Mr. Modi on the occasion.

What is US citizenship test? What changes Trump administration is bringing to make it tougher
USCIS new director said the present US citizenship is easy and can be memorized. The US citizenship test, officially known as the Naturalization test, is an examination that an applicant has to take to become a naturalized American citizen. This test is not for green card holders unless they are applying for citizenship. The new director of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service said the existing test is too easy and the answers can be memorized. The Donald Trump administration is planning to bring back the 2020 version of the test. US Citizenship test First, the applicants have to submit Form N-400 seeking for naturalization. They need to pass a background check and meet residency and other requirements. Then there have to attend an interview where they take two tests: English and a civic test. In the civic test, there are 100 questions; the officer asks the applicant 10 and the applicant must answer at least six correctly. During the first term of Donald Trump, there was a new rule for a very brief time where there are 128 questions; applicants are asked 20 and they must get at least 12 right. The USCIS is planning to bring back some version of this type of test. Before 2008, the test was random but the Bush administration introduced the 6 out of 10 questions benchmark. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Angola: New Senior Homes (Prices May Surprise You) Senior Apartments | Search Ads Search Now Undo USCIS director said the present version is not really "comforting with the spirit of the law". Sweeping H-1B changes The development regarding the US citizenship test comes as the Department of Homeland Security proposed sweeping changes for the H-1B visa program that allows US companies to hire foreign workers. According to the proposed changes, H-1B will not be for entry-level workers. It will be only for high-skilled jobs for which there will higher salary. If this becomes implemented, US graduates will not lose out jobs in the entry level and tech companies will not be able to hire foreign workers at a lower wage.
