IND vs ENG 4th Test: Rishabh Pant a huge blow as India ride the ebbs and flows on Day 1 of Manchester Test
The moment the ball crashed into the side of his right boot, Rishabh Pant was in serious pain. England went up after their appeal was turned down, and the replays suggested that some bat saved the left-hander after he failed to make a good connection with the audacious reverse-sweep.

Pant survived the shout for leg before but couldn't survive the pain, as he struggled to stay still due to the unbearable pain. The moment the boot came off, one could see the swelling as the camera zoomed in on the impact point.
The physio gave the initial treatment; there was some blood, but the pain didn't subside as the 27-year-old continued to grimace. The damage was done, and Ravindra Jadeja was getting ready to walk out.
But when Pant tried to stand up, he couldn't keep the foot down. A mini-ambulance was summoned to ferry the stumper back to the change room.

A solid partnership was developing between Pant and Sai Sudharsan, but the injury allowed England to bring some momentum their way, and they made it count. With light fading, England saw this as the opportunity to have a real crack at the visitors. For the entire day, the hosts were relentless but got a solid response from India in the morning session, where the conditions remained overcast but good for batting.

There was some anxious energy when the longer hand of the clock inched closer to the Lunch break, as India batters have been guilty of losing concentration close to the end of sessions. They wouldn't have wanted a repeat at Old Trafford, especially after the start, and both KL Rahul and
ensured there were no casualties this time around. 78/0 was a job well done, and with both Rahul and Jaiswal getting their eye in, a post-Lunch feast was on the cards.

Manchester has been very wet for the last one week, but it had very little bearing on the nature of the surface. Even after the rain and the moisture seeping in, the surface remained on the drier side, and it didn't have the spicy carry and the pace everyone expected it to offer. Chris Woakes asked a lot of questions early in the morning, but the rub of the green went to Jaiswal as he survived the edgy period and grew in confidence as the innings progressed.
There was a nice buzz around the ground as the crowd got behind both teams, but India threw the start away as they lost wickets of KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill in quick succession. It was Gill's wicket which gave Ben Stokes, and the entire England team, a spring in their stride, and they were very incisive during that passage of play.
Sai Sudharsan had a trial by fire as Stokes stuck to his leg-side trap for the youngster, and it nearly paid off before Jamie Smith made a mess of a regulation catch behind the stumps.
It could have been a horrible session for the visitors, but Sudharsan battled it out with Pant, and together they ensured India remained in control even when the few cracks on the pitch were doing the odd trick.

Sudharsan was attacked on the stumps from around the wicket, had a trap for the flick/pull on the leg side, and he was presented the bait far too often, but he maintained the solidity and stuck to his character. For 150 deliveries, the left-hander gave a solid account of his batting temperament but perished pulling Stokes to Brydon Carse in the deep.
All the hard work was undone by a shot that was not true to the character the left-hander is known for.
India lost the set batter, and not far away from action, another left-hander was receiving first aid at the ground's medical centre. Accompanied by physio Yogesh Parmar and the medical team, Pant got attention before he was stretchered into an ambulance for further scans/treatment at a nearby medical facility. In the middle, Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja ensured there was no further damage as the team ended Day 1 at 264/4.

What prompted BCCI to agree to India vs Pakistan clash in Asia Cup 2025 despite recent border tensions? Details
The announcement of the India vs Pakistan clash in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 has created a lot of buzz even two months before the high-octane clash in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Saturday revealed the dates of Asia Cup 2025 with the IND vs PAK encounter scheduled for September 14. If all goes well, the arch-rivals could face each other thrice in the tournament. The dates of the Asia Cup 2025 were finalised after an ACC meeting on July 24 in Dhaka, chaired by president Mohsin Naqvi. BCCI was represented by vice-president Rajeev Shukla through a video call after the Indian board refused to travel to Bangladesh due to the political situations in the neighbouring country. Ever since the Asia Cup 2025 dates were announced on Saturday, former cricketers have raised their voices over the IND vs PAK clash. The two countries had come close to the brink of war following the Pahalgam attack, to which India responded with Operation Sindoor. But the biggest question is what prompted the BCCI to go ahead with the Asia Cup 2025 despite the recent tensions? Well, the answer to this is India's bid to host the 2036 Olympics in the country. Although India doesn't play any bilateral series with Pakistan in any sport in more than a decade, the India's no objection in multilateral competitions against their arch-rivals is deemed as a necessity if they were to get the hosting rights of the Olympic Games in 11 years time. Recently, the Government of India has allowed the Pakistan hockey teams to compete in the Asia Cup and Junior World Cup to be held in the country later in the year. Meanwhile, India could possibly face Pakistan thrice in the tournament. After the league stage, the top two teams from the groups will qualify for Super Fours. The top two teams in Super Fours will play in the final. After the Group A India vs Pakistan clash on September 14, the arch-rivals are expected to face again in Super Four. If all goes well, an India vs Pakistan final is on cards. The previous edition of the event was in a 50-over format, but this year's tournament was scheduled as a shorter-format event in preparation for next year's T20 World Cup in India. The final of the Asia Cup 2025 will be held on September 28. However, the venues are yet to be decided.

Ben Stokes, Ravindra Jadeja Engage In Tense Chat As 'Handshake' Row Hits 4th Test
Ben Stokes and Ravindra Jadeja engaged in a tense chat following the end of the fourth Test encounter between England and India at Old Trafford on Sunday. The tensions began when Stokes offered to end the match in a draw with 15 overs to go on Day 5. However, the offer was declined as both Jadeja and Washington Sundar were close to their centuries. Both batters went on to reach their respective milestones but they were targetted with taunts by Stokes and Co. Once the match ended, Stokes did not shake hands with Jadeja and Washington at first and got into a chat with the all-rounder. However, he ultimately shook hands with both batters as they left the field. Ben Stokes refused to shake hands with Jadeja & Washi⁰~ What's your take on this #INDvsENG #INDvsEND — Kavya Maran (@Kavya_Maran_SRH) July 27, 2025 Stokes, who was visibly irritated after India refused to declare for a draw, said he was not going to risk his first string bowlers given the result of the match was decided heading into the final hour. Stokes offered to shake hands and declare the fourth Test during the final drinks break but with Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar nearing their well deserved hundreds, India made England bowl till the duo reached their milestones. However, Stokes employed Harry Brook and Joe Root as the two bowlers, allowing his pace battery to rest. "All the hard work was done by India and there was only one result ... I wasn't going to risk any of my bowlers, (Liam) Dawsey had bowled a lot of overs and his body was tiring. I wasn't going to risk any of my front line bowlers,' said Stokes in the post-game presentation. The England skipper scored a century, whilst also claiming five wickets, but claimed he would 'give this all back to get the result that we wanted.' After India lost the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan in the opening over, all hopes seemed lost for the visitors. KL Rahul and Shubman Gill stood tall on Day 4 and navigated through the day before Sundar and Jadeja put on a 223-run stand and refused to let the game slip away from them. Despite the animated moment towards the end, Stokes tipped his hat towards the duo and admitted England threw everything at them but they absorbed the pressure well. "Heap load of credit for the way Washington and Jadeja played, got to give them a lot of credit. to do what they did for that position. It's been a back and forth series so far, throwing punches at each other, great credit to the way India have kept fighting. We threw absolutely everything at them but they were able to absorb the pressure."

England vs Spain: UEFA Women's Euro 2025 prize money - How much prize money will winners take home
The UEFA Women's Euro 2025 final between England and Spain will take place in Basel, Switzerland's St. Jakob-Park on Sunday. Spain's defender #07 Olga Carmona (L) and England's forward #11 Lauren Hemp challenge for the ball during the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 final football match between England and Spain at the St. Jakob-Park Stadium in Basel, on July 27, 2025. (Photo by Miguel MEDINA / AFP)(AFP) The Lionesses lost 2-1 in Sydney in the 2023 Women's World Cup final, which is being replayed here. It also mimics the men's European Championship final from the previous year, in which Spain won 2-1. Sarina Wiegman's team is attempting to become just the second country in history to secure back-to-back Euros titles after making it to three consecutive major finals. They are viewed as the underdogs versus La Roja, who have grown to be a formidable force in the women's game. The winning team will also receive a sizable portion of a record-breaking amount of prize money this year. Also Read: US-owned Irish soccer club Drogheda barred from Conference League by UEFA ownership rules What we know about Women's Euro 2025 prize money The incredible €41 million prize money for this year's Women's Euros is five times greater than the €8 million awarded in 2017 and more than double the €16 million awarded in 2022. About 70% of the entire 2025 budget is allocated to the fixed €1.8 million participation fee for each team taking part in the event, which is three times the amount of money allocated in 2022. The final 30% goes toward rewards for performance, with teams getting €50,000 for a draw and €100,000 for a win in the group stages. As the knockout stages progress, the amounts rise incrementally, reaching €1.75 million for each finalist. The 2025 tournament's club benefits package broke the previous record, rising from €4.5 million in 2022 to €9 million in 2025, making it the biggest of its kind in women's football. How much will Euro 2025 winners take home? The final winners will have access to a maximum reward money of €5.1 million, more than twice the €2 million jackpot that was potentially awarded in 2022. If Spain wins the final on Sunday, they will receive this amount because they have won both of their elimination matches and all three of their group games. Given that they lost to France in their opening match, England would receive a little less.
