However, Bisseck was only able to play for a few minutes. He suffered a thigh injury after making a run forward into the PSG half.
It was quickly apparent that Bisseck would not be able to continue after pulling up with what appeared to be pain in his hamstring.
The severity of the injury for Bisseck is not yet clear. The German will undergo medical tests.
What is clear, however, is that the Inter defender will pull out the Germany squad.

Ukraine welcomes Australian support, calls for more aid

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has joined Volodymyr Zelenskiy and world leaders on a virtual hook-up to express support for the Ukrainian president ahead of a key meeting. Ukraine's ambassador to Australia Vasyl Myroshnychenko called for further international pressure on Russia ahead of Mr Zelenskiy's meeting with US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office on Monday (local time). The coalition of the willing, which includes more than 30 nations united in their support for Ukraine, held a phone call overnight (AEST) convened by US Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron. Overnight, I joined a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing convened by @Keir_Starmer and @EmmanuelMacron, alongside President @ZelenskyyUa and other democratic remains committed to supporting Ukraine and it was an opportunity to discuss next steps in… — Anthony Albanese (@AlboMP) August 18, 2025 Mr Myroshnychenko welcomed Australia's support, saying international pressure needed to remain on Russia, including by choking its economy with sanctions to impede its ability to wage war. "It's important you're part of it and Australia is committed," he told AAP. "The main purpose of the coalition of the willing was to help Ukraine win the war on just terms and the way to do it is to put pressure on Russia, put new sanctions on Russia. "What's important is the consistency of that. What's important is Australia keeps on going it." Australia has committed $1.5 billion in support for Ukraine, with the last military aid package of 49 Abrams tanks announced in October 2024. The ambassador called for more support to aid Ukraine's defences, including further armoured personnel vehicles. "We would be very grateful for more assistance," he said. "At the end of the day, Russia didn't commit to anything, they didn't say they were going to stop. "Any security guarantees for Ukraine includes a strong military." Assistant Foreign Affairs Minister Matt Thistlethwaite said Australia remained committed to Ukraine, and while it couldn't move the dial on the war alone, it was effective when it joined like-minded countries. "Obviously, we want to see peace but it can't come at the expense of the Ukrainian people and their territorial integrity," he told Sky News on Monday. Mr Thistlethwaite said he wouldn't pre-empt "what the prime minister may or may not announce over the coming days" when asked about the possibility of further sanctions against Russia. European leaders, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, will join Mr Zelenskiy in Washington. The UK, French, German, Italian and Finnish leaders will also attend amid concerns the Trump administration could walk back support of the embattled nation as Russia pushes to keep land it has annexed from Ukraine. It follows Mr Trump's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska over the weekend, when the pair discussed a peace plan following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. No agreements were announced, but US envoy Steve Witkoff said Russia had agreed to some concessions and "game-changing" security guarantees. Ukraine has rejected ceding any territory to Russia under a ceasefire or peace deal. Mr Zelenskiy has called for a security guarantee, similar to the NATO pact which has a mutual defence article stating that an attack on one member is an attack on all members. Ukraine isn't a NATO member but wants to join the alliance, something Russia opposes. Mr Witkoff said Mr Putin had agreed to allow the US and European nations to offer Ukraine a security guarantee during his meeting with Mr Trump, but Russia still believes NATO membership is "a red flag". "We were able to win the following concession, that the United States could offer article five-like protection, which is one of the real reasons why Ukraine wants to be in NATO," he told CNN. This concession "was the first time we had ever heard the Russians agree to that", he said.

'A very good game' – Luis Enrique gives verdict on Illia Zabarnyi's PSG debut against Nantes

PSG head coach Luis Enrique was pleased with Illia Zabarnyi's (22) debut with Les Parisiens. The Ukrainian defender has been given the nod for the first time by the Spaniard for the Champions League winners' Ligue 1 opening day win against Nantes. PSG got over the line courtesy of Vitinha's deflected effort. Luis Enrique fielded a B team, considering PSG have had close to no pre-season due to their commitments in the Club World Cup and the UEFA's Super Cup. Zabarnyi played the full 90 minutes against Luis Castro's Nantes as the right-sided centre-back, alongside Lucas Beraldo. The former Bournemouth centre-back put in an assured display, keeping Nantes at bay and earning a 6 in GFFN's ratings. Luis Enrique was also pleased with Zabarnyi's performance. 'His technical and physical condition is perfect for the style of play I like. He's comfortable with the ball. And without it, he usually wins it back. He's had a very good game.' Large hostage release demonstrations criticized by Netanyahu

Thousands of Israelis expressed their solidarity on Sunday with the hostages held by Hamas and others militants in the Gaza Strip with strikes and protests across the country that were criticized by Israel's prime minister and others. Demonstrators blocked numerous roads across Israel, including a major highway in the coastal city of Tel Aviv. They waved blue-and-white Israeli national flags as well as yellow flags symbolizing solidarity with the hostages. More than 200,000 demonstrators gathered in Tel Aviv alone on Sunday evening, according to police estimates published by the organizers. Demonstrators loudly called for an end to the Gaza war and the immediate release of the Hamas hostages, journalists at the scene reported. Israeli President Isaac Herzog visited Hostage Square in central Tel Aviv and called on international decision makers to pressure Hamas to release the hostages. "I want to tell the world: Stop the hypocrisy!" Netanyahu, Smotrich criticize protesters The protests were criticized by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich. "Those who are calling for an end to the war today without defeating Hamas, are not only hardening Hamas's stance and pushing off the release of our hostages, they are also ensuring that the horrors of the October 7 will recur again and again, and that our sons and daughters will need to fight again and again in an endless war," he told a Cabinet meeting. Smotrich described the protests in a post on X as a "bad and harmful campaign that plays into Hamas's hands." The protesters urged the Israeli government to reverse its decision to capture Gaza City and other areas of the Gaza Strip, as the hostage supporters believe this will endanger the some 20 hostages believed to still be alive. On Sunday, the Israeli military outlined its expansion plans. Hostage families speak out "The Israeli government never made a serious attempt to release the hostages through a comprehensive agreement," said Einav Zangauker, whose son Matan is one of 20 living hostages in the Gaza Strip, in her speech. "It turned the most justified war into a false one." "We will bring the country to a standstill," she said. The aunt of Israeli-German hostage Alon Ohel pleaded for his rescue, describing his dire condition: "He is bound in chains, severely wounded, and likely to lose his sight. He is suffering from severe head injuries and shrapnel throughout his body, and he is alone. He is hungry, hot and gasping for breath. His life is in imminent danger – save him!" During a rally at Hostage Square, the sister of an agricultural student from Nepal abducted to Gaza during the Hamas-led massacre on October 7, 2023, spoke publicly for the first time. Fighting back tears, she said the family has received no sign of life from him for almost two years. Several former Hamas hostages, released during a ceasefire in the spring, held a banner reading: "Bring them home now!" Big trade union sympathetic but not on strike Although the powerful Histadrut trade union federation did not join the strike, it expressed understanding for the action. Numerous businesses and municipalities went on strike as a show of solidarity. The two major theatres in Tel Aviv also halted their performances. More than 30 arrests were reported across Israel on Sunday. In Jerusalem, water cannons were used against protesters. The organization representing the families of the hostages had called for a nationwide strike on Sunday, the start of Israel's working week. Actress Gal Gadot meets with hostage relatives Israeli Hollywood actress Gal Gadot, 40, also visited the square in Tel Aviv to meet with relatives of the hostages. A video shared by the Hostage Families Forum showed Gadot comforting the wife of a hostage, holding her hands with a smile and then embracing her tightly. According to Israeli information, of the 50 abducted individuals, only 20 are still alive. Plans to expand Gaza offensive The Israeli government is preparing to expand its offensive in the Gaza Strip in the coming weeks. According to the Hamas-run Health Ministry, the war has already killed around 62,000 Palestinians. Israel's stated goal with the new offensive is to capture Gaza City and other areas of the coastal territory, in order to crush Hamas' remaining strongholds. Authorities have begun planning the relocation of civilians. The Israeli military body COGAT announced on X that deliveries of tents and other shelter equipment would resume on Sunday as part of preparations for evacuations from combat zones. Indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas over ending the war and releasing the hostages have so far failed.
