Exclusive: Al-Hilal open Ederson talks after rejected Man Utd bid
Saudi side Al-Hilal have opened talks with Ederson's entourage, but Manchester United remain interested in the Brazilian after seeing a €50m bid rejected last summer.
Football Italia can confirm that agents of Atalanta midfielder Ederson held talks with Al-Hilal representatives on Monday evening.

The Brazilian midfielder has been linked with leaving the Gewiss Stadium in the summer transfer window. Football Italia understands that Manchester United tried to sign Ederson last summer for €50m, but their offer was rejected.

The Red Devils remain interested in the 25-year-old, who scored five goals and provided two assists in 49 appearances across all competitions in 2024-25.
His convincing performances with La Dea even led to his senior debut for Brazil in June 2024.
Ederson joined Atalanta on a permanent transfer from Salernitana in 2022 for €22.9m.

Having more than one club interested in the player clearly goes in Atalanta's favour, as La Dea hopes for a bidding war for the talented midfielder.
Al-Hilal have been in talks with several Serie A stars over the last few days, including Milan's Theo Hernandez.
They have also sent an offer to Inter coach Simone Inzaghi, who will discuss his future in a meeting with Nerazzurri President Beppe Marotta today.

Former Hialeah Mayor Esteban 'Steve' Bovo's April farewell party must have been quite the shindig — to which the public was not invited, even though taxpayers footed the steep bill of more than $45,000. No expense was spared, it seems. There was more than $20,000 spent for Brazilian grill catering — quite the splurge! — plus $8,015 for decor that included elaborate floral centerpieces and gold charger plates for 350 party guests that included city council members and local elected officials. This one is must have made quite the impact on them: custom espresso cup and saucer sets that cost $4,667.50, the Miami Herald reported Wednesday. And then there was the crowning touch: $1,500 for a deluxe espresso and cappuccino bar staffed by two baristas. Or perhaps this was the most impressive element: an ice sculpture for $745 with Bovo's seal: 'Hialeah first, Hialeah always.' Sounds like quite a bash. The irony of this logo shouldn't be lost on Hialeah taxpayers, whose dollars Bovo and the Hialeah City Council were elected to oversee, not spend them on frivolous party details usually reserved for weddings and celebrations that people pay for out of their own pockets. It's unclear who green-lighted the $45,000 expense, which was never brought up before the City Council for approval. In Hialeah's strong-mayor government system, the mayor, the finance management director and the purchasing department director must approve any expenditure, but it's unknown if Bovo personally signed off on it, according to the Herald's reporting. Tellingly, the city did not provide documentation, when the Herald asked, on which department authorized the event or which budget the money to pay for it came from. If a $45,000, four-hour, going-away lunch isn't galling enough, think about this: The median annual household income in Hialeah is just over $53,000, the Herald reported. That means Bovo's party cost almost as much as the entire annual income of many people in his city. It also cost more than the $44,000 that council members earn annually, as the Herald reported. What a bad look — especially when Bovo resigned seven months before the end of his first mayoral term to join a lobbying firm that reportedly is paying him a lot more than what he made as mayor: a $150,000 annual salary and a $40,000 expense account. Before he left city hall, Bovo got another gift from taxpayers, this one courtesy of the city council: a reimbursed retirement benefit of $44,594, the Herald reported. Hialeah used to have a decade-old rule that banned retired elected officials from receiving retirement benefits while in office. In March, the City Council voted unanimously to lift the restriction. Bovo, who spent nearly 30 years in public service, should have known better. Whether he personally approved the bill for his party or somebody else in city government did and he didn't ask questions, it's all the same. This isn't how you put 'Hialeah First.' Mass. high school student detained by ICE now in solitary confinement, lawyers say

A Milford High School student who has been detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) since last weekend was recently moved from a field office holding cell into solitary confinement, his lawyers told MassLive Wednesday night. Attorney Miriam Conrad said in an interview that when she asked one of the guards at ICE's Burlington, Massachusetts, field office why her client — 18-year-old Marcelo Gomes Da Silva — was no longer being held in a cell along with 25 to 30 other detainees, he said that the guards thought 'he'd be more comfortable' in a separate holding space. Conrad expressed skepticism about the guard's assessment, saying that her client 'needs people to talk to.' But she and another member of the teen's legal team — Attorney Robin Nice — also described the holding cell he was previously being kept in as lacking privacy and a comfortable place to sleep. ICE agents intended to target teen's father —João Paulo Gomes-Pereira — when they pulled over Gomes-Pereira's car on May 31, but instead arrested Gomes Da Silva after discovering that he was using the car to drive his volleyball teammates around, Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said Monday. 'This is just absolutely senseless, heartless and heartbreaking.' Conrad said Wednesday. 'It serves no purpose to take a kid like this off the street who has not ever committed a crime in his is loved by his community, by his school, by his church and put him into these horrendous, inhumane conditions and try to take him out of the country.' Neither ICE nor the Department of Homeland Security immediately responded to requests for comment Wednesday night. Prior to being moved to solitary confinement, Gomes Da Silva was being kept in a holding cell with a single toilet that provided no privacy for the dozens of people being held there, his lawyers said. Detainees were also provided nothing to sleep on aside from the cell's concrete floor, and food offerings at the field office have been so 'meager and verging on the point of inedible' that the opportunity to eat a Snickers bar became 'a high point' for the teen amidst his ongoing detainment, Conrad said. Gomes Da Silva told his lawyers that some guards at the field office have been nice, while others have been less friendly. The teen recounted one incident during which a guard pretended to open the door to the holding cell as if he was about to free the detainees, only to quickly close it while saying 'sike,' prompting laughs from the other guards, Conrad said. 'I need my son inside my home. I need to hug my son — please,' his father said in the video. Gomes Da Silva is set to appear in Chelmsford Immigration Court on Thursday at 1 p.m. His lawyers hope the judge will allow him to be released on bail. Gomes Da Silva sounded demoralized during a Tuesday phone call with Nice, she said. But his spirits seemed brighter when Nice and Conrad met with him Wednesday night. 'He is very much looking forward to having the hearing tomorrow,' Conrad said. 'I think he can see the light at the end of the tunnel.'
