Saudi side Al-Hilal have opened talks with Ederson's entourage, but Manchester United remain interested in the Brazilian after seeing a €50m bid rejected last summer. Orsolini happy to be back in Italy squad after ‘disappointment'

Orsolini happy to be back in Italy squad after 'disappointment' Riccardo Orsolini is glad to be back in the Italy squad after 'previous disappointment' and hopes Vincenzo Italiano remains at Bologna. The winger had been in the preliminary group for the EURO 2024 tournament, but was then cut from the final list and snubbed by coach Luciano Spalletti ever since. Advertisement His form became impossible to ignore this season with 15 goals and five assists in 30 Serie A appearances. It earned him a recall for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Norway and Moldova. (Photo by) 'I am very happy and proud to be back in the Italy team after previous disappointment with the exclusion from the Euros,' Orsolini told Sky Sport Italia. 'I return to the Azzurri with my trademark enthusiasm. I will put my characteristics at the service of the team, which is unpredictability, dribbling and an eye for goal. I think I can give a lot to this Nazionale. 'When it comes to systems and tactical choices, that's down to the coach.' Advertisement Although he made his senior debut for Italy in November 2019, the 28-year-old has only seven caps, scoring two goals and providing three assists. (Photo by) Bologna won their first piece of major silverware in 51 years, sealing the Coppa Italia Final against Milan and with it qualifying for the Europa League. 'We played in the Champions League this season, the maximum club competition, and a few 'slaps' in that tournament helped us to learn and improve. Now we have more confidence.' Despite their success in the Coppa Italia, there are still reports that coach Italiano could be tempted to leave Bologna in order to take on the Milan job. 'He seems calm, he knows what he wants. I consider him to be an extraordinary coach and I hope he can continue with this project. We'll see what happens,' added Orsolini.

Bologna reassure Italiano and push away Milan approach

Bologna CEO Claudio Fenucci confirms the negotiations with Milan target Vincenzo Italiano are going well for a new contract. 'We just need to sort out a few details, but the intention is to continue together.' The coach took over from Thiago Motta last summer and managed to do even better than his predecessor, winning the Coppa Italia for their first piece of major silverware in 51 years. Advertisement It has brought him to the attention of Milan, who want to poach the tactician for next season, but the club is determined to lock him down. (Photo by) 'The intention of both parties is to continue together,' Bologna CEO Fenucci told 'I had already told Vincenzo before the end of the season and the great results we achieved that we'd be happy to carry on together. I don't know the timing, but Italiano has always shown himself to be enthusiastic about Bologna, the atmosphere, the city and the fans. 'We have everything needed to extend the contract, we just need to sort out a few details, but I hope in a reasonable timeframe we can get it done.' Advertisement The plan is to extend his contract to June 2028, adding another two years to the current deal. His salary can also climb to €2.8m per season net plus bonuses in case of repeating the Coppa Italia triumph and qualifying for Europe. Another issue up for debate is that Italiano wants guarantees the squad will be competitive and not stripped for parts, something that Fenucci reassures everyone on. 'The desire as always is to build a competitive squad and try to keep all the best players in the team. We'll have to see what happens, because there can be some situations like last season Joshua Zirkzee's release clause, but if resources do arrive from sales, we will use those to further reinforce the side.'

'This incredible year is crowned with this trophy, which is what these fans deserved. Advertisement 'I also want to send a dedication to Joe Barone's family, because his son sent me a message this morning and I was immensely pleased. Now please let me go and celebrate, because this is incredible,' smiled Italiano.'
