American Horror Story star looks unrecognizable as she steps out with a new hair color
American Horror Story star Kate Mara was nearly unrecognizable as she stepped out in Los Angeles on Friday.
Gone were the actress' usual Titian tresses and in their place were golden blonde locks styled in a loose bun at the top of her head.
The Emmy nominee, 42, kept warm in the cool morning temperatures in a gold and white striped rugby shirt over a pair of black leggings.
She wore black mules on her feet and carried a straw bag with peach flowers and green leaves embroidered on it.
The Astronaut actress carried a nearly empty coffee drink as she made her way through the Los Feliz area.
The new hair color could be the result of a whim, or due to an upcoming job.
The acclaimed actress has signed to star in Imperfect Women with Elizabeth Moss and Kerry Washington.
The series, initially announced more than a year ago is based on the Araminta Hall novel of the same name.
The psychological thriller focuses on three longtime friends whose lives art shattered by a brutal crime.
The official description from Apple+ revealed the show is a 'mystery complicated by perspective that explores guilt and retribution, love and betrayal, and the compromises we make that alter our lives irrevocably.'
'As the investigation unravels, so does the truth about how even the closest relationships can change over time.'
Kate previously starred in American Horror Story as Hayden McClaine.
She and her sister, Rooney Mara, 40, recently completed work on Bucking Fastard.
They star as two sisters who are so close they speak in unison, love the same man, played by Orlando Bloom, and have the same dreams.
In the Werner Herzog directed drama they begin to search for an imaginary land where true love is possible.
Herzog reportedly met the real life twins, who inspired the story, several times and drew from that experience in writing the script, according to AVClub.com.
It was the first time the highly regarded sisters had worked on a film together.
The movie was shot in Ireland and Slovenia over several weeks.

Cheers star's cause of death exposed after sad sudden death
George Wendt died in his home at the age of 76 on May 20, and police have now released medical details Cheers legend George Wendt's cause of death has been revealed two weeks after the actor died suddenly in his sleep at the age of 76. According to a Los Angeles County Department of Public Health death certificate, Wendt died of a cardiac arrest on May 20. TMZ obtained the certificate, which also lists the underlying health conditions he had including congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, and hypertension. End-stage renal disease, kidney failure, and hyperlipidemia (a condition involving high levels of fat in the blood) also could have contributed to his death. The certificate states that Wendt was pronounced dead at 10am on May 20, and he was cremated on May 28. Wendt was a fixture on American television for over a decade. He is best known for his role as Norm Peterson on NBC's Cheers, where he earned six consecutive Emmy nominations for his portrayal of the cheerful barfly. The actor appeared in every episode of the long-running sitcom from 1982 to its finale in 1993 with his signature opening, "Afternoon everyone!" In a 2021 interview with Chicago Magazine, Wendt said: "Norm is just me with better writing. There were hundreds, if not thousands, of actors who could have delivered on the absolute gems that I was handed on a silver platter every Wednesday morning." Wendt's passing came just six months after he was seen looking frail while being wheeled out of a dialysis clinic in California on the exact anniversary of the Cheers finale. After the news of his death broke, he was flooded with tributes by fans and former co-stars. Ted Danson, who played bartender Sam Malone on the series, told People magazine: "I'm devastated to hear that Georgie is no longer with us. I am sending all my love to Bernadette and the children. It is going to take me a long time to get used to this. I love you, Georgie." Wendt's family also released a public message, which read: "George was a doting family man, a well-loved friend and confidant to all of those lucky enough to have known him. He will be missed forever. The family has requested privacy during this time." Cheers became a cultural phenomenon over its 11 season run, and won 28 Emmy Awards after 117 nominations. Although the first season's ratings were poor, the show went on to become a hit and is now one of the most acclaimed sitcoms in TV history. Wendt also had a diverse acting career beyond Cheers, with roles in Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Columbo, Wings, and Saturday Night Live's Bill Swerski's Superfans sketches. He found his way into acting after being expelled from the University of Notre Dame because of his poor grades and getting a job sweeping theatre floors. The sitcom star married Bernadette Birkett, who voiced Norm's off-screen wife Vera on Cheers , in 1978 and the pair went on to have three children together. For the most part Wendt stayed out of the spotlight in his later years, but made a touching final appearance at the Emmy Awards with his Cheers castmates in January 2024.

Sci-fi fans have just days to watch huge film before it leaves BBC iPlayer for good
A beloved dystopian saga is slipping away from BBC iPlayer soon, leaving fans with a fleeting chance to revisit a world where society's rigid lines blur. A gem of dystopian cinema that had a legion of fans in the 2010s is leaving BBC iPlayer in the next few days, giving audiences a last chance to catch up on a beloved film series. Insurgent (2015) is the second instalment of the Divergent trilogy - based on Veronica Roth's book in which society is divided into factions based on human virtues, and teenagers must choose which faction to join. Tris Prior, a member of the selfless Abnegation faction, discovers she is Divergent, meaning she possesses traits of multiple factions and is a threat to the rigid system. She joins Dauntless, learns to trust the mysterious Four, and uncovers a conspiracy to destroy Divergents, leading her to question her identity and loyalty as she fights for survival against a powerful system. Insurgent follows Tris and Four as the faction system is crumbling. They then must uncover what Tris' family sacrificed to protect and why the Erudite faction is so determined to stop them. Tris grapples with her past, confronts her inner demons, and embraces her "Divergence" in the face of escalating conflict and new discoveries. The books were already an established success among young adult audiences when Divergent, Insurgent and Allegiant were adapted into films. With a cast led by Golden Globes, Emmy and BAFTA-nominated actress Shailene Woodley and Emmy nominee Theo James, Insurgent also boasts names like Kate Winslet, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Octavia Spencer, Zoe Kravitz, Naomi Watts, Suki Waterhouse and Ashley Judd in its cast list. Critics on reviewing platform Rotten Tomatoes generally criticise Insurgent for not holding up the hype built up by its predecessor, but also point out some of the film's strong suits. 'I liked the series from the beginning and the development of the characters and turns in the story', one wrote. 'Moments that the protagonists faced seem fresh and new with innocence contrasted by grief, loss, yet fierce pursuit for justice against a system that is oppressive. The scenery, cinematography, music seemed so futuristic and non-time based to be transported to a different place'. 'I started to watch this series again and it still holds up today', another commented. 'This second instalment of the series builds off the first in a great and unique way'. Insurgent is followed by Allegiant (2016), and, collectively, the three films have grossed over $765 million in box offices worldwide. If you plan on binge-watching the Divergent series, Insurgent (2015) will be available on BBC iPlayer until June 9th.
