Bengaluru is already a quantum hub: Minister
This came in response to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's earlier announcement of a collaboration with QPIAI, a quantum computing company, to establish the ambitious Amaravati Quantum Valley, under the National Quantum Mission. Mr. Naidu claimed this would mark the first such quantum technology hub in India, aimed at advancing research and innovation.

Responding to this, Mr. Boseraju said Bengaluru has already made significant progress as the hub of India's quantum sector. A prime example is the 25-qubit quantum computer 'Indus', indigenously developed and operational in Bengaluru.
Mr. Boseraju said India's first Quantum Research Park has been established at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru.
A two-day Quantum Summit was being organised in Bengaluru from July 31. Nobel laureates in the field of quantum technology would participate in this summit, he said.

In his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat', Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised the INSPIRE-MANAK Abhiyan, which has nurtured innovation among children, who have enrolled in this campaign in large numbers, especially since the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3. The INSPIRE Award MANAK (Million Minds Augmenting National Aspirations and Knowledge) scheme is a programme managed by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) that aims to foster creative and innovative thinking among school students. The target group of this initiative is students in the 10-15 age group (Classes 6-10). INSPIRE MANAK aims to encourage a culture of innovation by motivating students to come forward with original ideas embedded in science and technology. PM Modi also noted the growing reach of the INSPIRE-MANAK Abhiyan, an initiative, he said, was launched to "promote innovation among school children". "Five children are selected from every school who bring new ideas. So far, lakhs of children have become part of this initiative, and after Chandrayaan-3, the number has doubled," he said. PM Modi also spoke about the rapid rise of space-related startups in the country, stating that their numbers have jumped from fewer than 50 five years ago to over 200 today. In this context, he announced that August 23 will be celebrated as 'National Space Day' and invited citizens to share their suggestions on the NaMo App about how they plan to mark the occasion. Addressing the 124th episode of 'Mann Ki Baat', PM Modi was highlighting the recent achievements by Indians in space, science, sports and culture and also made a special mention of Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, whose recent space mission created waves of joy and national pride across the nation. Recalling the excitement and curiosity generated after Chandrayaan-3's successful moon landing in August 2023, he noted how the mission had sparked a deep interest in science and space among children. "I still remember when Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the moon... Even young kids now say, 'We will also go to space, we will also land on the moon and become space scientists," he said. Stressing the new energy with which Indian science is progressing in the 21st century, he proudly spoke of Indian students winning medals at the International Chemistry Olympiad. "Devesh Pankaj, Sandeep Kuchi, Debadatta Priyadarshi and Ujjawal Kesari -- these four made India proud," he said. He also acknowledged India's achievements in mathematics, noting the students' performance at the International Mathematical Olympiad, where they brought home three gold, two silver and one bronze medal. Looking ahead, PM Modi said India will host the Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad in Mumbai next month, with participants from 60 countries. He noted that this will be the largest such Olympiad held so far and added, "In a way, India is now moving forward in both Olympic and Olympiad."

Naidu had earlier taken to social media platform 'X' to announce Andhra's upcoming quantum milestone, saying, 'Our state is set to deploy India's first indigenously built 8-qubit quantum computer this November in Amaravati, with support from @QpiAI.' Naidu added that the project, backed by the National Quantum Mission, would help transform agriculture, healthcare, and water management in Andhra Pradesh, while congratulating QpiAI founder Nagendra Nagarajan. But Boseraju was quick to correct the record. 'For the record, India's first quantum computer — indigenously built by QpiAI right here in Bengaluru — began commercial operations in April 2025,' he said.
