Diljit Dosanjh teases future collaboration with Shakira: ‘She asked me to do an Indian version of Hips Don't Lie'

After turning heads at the Met Gala 2025 with his rooted-yet-revolutionary appearance, singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh was recently seen sharing space with music royalty once again, this time not on a red carpet, but on an international stage that celebrates the future of music. (Also read: Diljit Dosanjh beats Zendaya and Rihanna to top Best Dressed poll at Met Gala 2025; Shah Rukh Khan not on list) On June 11, 2025, Diljit was invited as a special speaker at NXNE in Toronto's TIFF Lightbox, marking the launch of the Billboard Summit in Canada. In what is being touted as a first for an Indian artist, the Born to Shine hitmaker sat down for a conversation with Panos A Panay, President of the Recording Academy, the organisation behind the Grammy Awards. A snippet from the interaction was shared by Diljit's team on their official Instagram handle. Panos, referring to Diljit's now-iconic Met Gala car moment with Shakira and Nicole Scherzinger, asked, 'You know, you've collaborated with Sia. This morning I was watching your video with Ed Sheeran. Rumour has it that you carpooled with Shakira. I'm curious how you see these collaborations from an artistic point of view too.' A post shared by TEAM DOSANJH (@teamdiljitglobal) To this, Diljit replied, "Hips don't lie, sir..." making the crowd applaud, adding, 'She invited me on her tour and suggested I do an Indian version of Hips Don't Lie. It's going to be tricky, but I'm sure I'll find it.' Diljit's team also shared a video of him speaking about his connection with his Indian roots and representing them globally. "Like for me, being a part of Punjabi culture, I feel blessed, first of all, and I'm very thankful to my mother tongue, who chose me to spread his fragrance to this, on the global stage. Every culture has a different fragrance, like from here, it's a different culture, and it's very beautiful, I think. Every culture has a different fragrance. I think for, my saying is, for new artists, carry your culture. If you want to stand out in front of this world, use that fragrance," he said. A post shared by TEAM DOSANJH (@teamdiljitglobal) Earlier this year, Diljit left fans speechless with his Met Gala debut. Representing his Sikh identity with pride, he walked the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in traditional Indian attire, a turban, kurta, and tehmat, all designed by Indian fashion designer Prabal Gurung. The look won hearts for its elegance, culture, and symbolism. But what truly made headlines was a behind-the-scenes moment, a fun video posted by his team showing Diljit chilling in a luxury car with Shakira and Nicole Scherzinger. In the clip, Shakira excitedly introduces him to her fans, calling out "Diljit! Diljit!" while he responds with a warm namaste gesture. She then smiles into the camera and says, "Hi to India." Another picture shared by Diljit's team on their Instagram handle from the evening showed the trio posing together at an exclusive dinner hosted by Anna Wintour. (ANI)

Netflix's latest update has fans rethinking their subscriptions: Here's why

Netflix users have been left confused and frustrated after the streaming service rolled out a major update to its interface. The redesigned app, which began gradually launching worldwide on May 19, introduced noticeable changes to the layout and navigation, catching many subscribers off guard as they logged in this week. Also Read: Carnival Cruise bans several passengers after onboard brawl: Here's what went down Netflix has been promoting its new design as a path to bring forward 'better recommendations and an improved interface that highlights what matters most to you". The streaming service insists that the new interface will result in a 'clean and modern' look for viewers, along with personalized suggestions and shortcuts leading to more apt recommendations for subscribers, as reported by the Manchester Evening News. However, a significant number of Netflix's 300 million subscribers have taken to social media to voice their dissatisfaction with the new interface, with some even threatening to cancel their subscriptions in protest, as reported by The Mirror. The backlash has sparked the launch of a petition, where frustrated users are calling on the streaming giant to revert to its previous layout. The petition's description strongly criticizes the redesign. The petition read, 'The new layout only allows users to see a sparse selection of 3 or 4 titles per screen, compared to the previously user-friendly layout of 20 or more titles. This change not only limits variety and accessibility but also diminishes the ease-of-use Netflix was renowned for." Eunice Kim, who is the chief product officer of Netflix, explained the redesign in May. She said, 'We wanted to create an experience that was more flexible for our broad entertainment offerings, more intuitive and responsive to our members' needs, and capable of elevating the most thrilling moments on Netflix.' Also Read: No Kings protest locations: Key cities and venues for June 14 protests A user wrote on X, 'The new netflix interface is NOT it. Not everything needs an update...' A second user wrote, 'i dont like netflix's new update.' A third user wrote, 'Netflix has destroyed the app. Worst UI redesign ever. Everyone needs to cancel." Another user wrote in a rant, "New Netflix ui update is fucking terrible, the enshittification of everything continues Worst part is the my list feature, I can't even look at my list properly, demoted to a horizontal scrolling screen instead of the whole screen Whose bright idea was this?" One user wrote, 'This new Netflix update is ugly as f***.' A user on Reddit wrote, "My TV updated to it automatically this week after putting off the update for ages, now it's a load of rubbish. Will be cancelling [my] subscription."

Pride@Godrej 2025: Beyond Symbolism, Empowering LGBTQIA+ Voices and Businesses

PRNewswire Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 12: This year, Pride@Godrej builds on a decade-long project of cultural inclusion within the Godrej Industries Group, to create a meaningful platform for authentic queer storytelling, entrepreneurial spirit and artistic expression. The Group recently hosted a vibrant Pride March at its headquarters, Godrej One, led by Manish Shah, Managing Director of Godrej Capital, and joined by senior leaders across the organization. This march was a powerful demonstration of solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community, including Godrej's queer employees in India and globally, alongside their allies. A key highlight of Pride@Godrej 2025 was the launch of Queer Directions--a pioneering publishing imprint in collaboration with Westland Books, dedicated to amplifying queer voices and narratives. The event began with the Pitch Bazaar, where over a dozen unpublished queer writers connected with publishers and media professionals. In parallel, a Queer Bazaar showcased products from queer-owned small businesses, fostering visibility and economic opportunities. The celebration culminated in a delightful performance of Jhumkewali, a play supported by Godrej Properties Limited, which explores themes of lesbian first love and self-discovery set in the 1970s. Performed in multiple Indian languages, the play embodied the event's inclusive ethos, celebrating the intersection of queerness with India's linguistic and cultural diversity. This day-long celebration seamlessly blended culture, conversation, and community through thoughtfully curated experiences. "What excites me most about this celebration is how we moved beyond just rainbow flags to create real opportunities," said Parmesh Shahani, Head of the Godrej DEI Lab and author of Queeristan. "When queer writers feel confident enough to pitch their stories to industry professionals, when small queer businesses get a platform to showcase their work, that's when you know inclusion is working. We are not just talking about diversity; we are actively creating pathways for queer voices to thrive." "The launch of Queer Directions represents our belief that great stories deserve great platforms," said Karthika V.K., Publisher at Westland Books. "This isn't just about publishing--it's about ensuring that authentic queer narratives find their rightful place in Indian literature and reach readers who need to see themselves reflected in books." Throughout June, the Group companies will engage in a series of impactful Pride-focused initiatives, moving beyond symbolic gestures to drive meaningful change. Godrej Properties is celebrating Pride Month across its zones with Pride marches, storytelling sessions, inclusive workshops, and creative activities such as art contests and wall painting. Godrej Capital is fostering inclusion through events at Pride@Godrej One, including Nukkad Nataks, allyship panels, LGBTQIA+ hiring drives, and wellness programs. Godrej Consumer Products is leading QueeRising 2025, a global campaign celebrating queer identity through conversations, connections, and inspiring change. Godrej Chemicals is championing Pride Month with awareness campaigns and LGBT+ sensitization workshops, while Godrej Agrovet Limited is organizing employee workshops focused on workplace allyship. This year too, a Pride flag and other queer-affirming signage have sparked meaningful conversations among employees and visitors alike, reflecting the organization's evolving commitment to visibility, dialogue, and genuine inclusion. About the Godrej DEi Lab The Godrej DEI Lab empowers inclusion ecosystems both within and outside the Godrej Industries Group.
