Backblaze Helps Media Post-Production Leader IDC LA Slash Cloud Storage Costs 75% While Accelerating Client Delivery
"With Backblaze, I know exactly what my costs are going to be, and I can forecast for them. For content where we know we need high availability, it's the right temperature of porridge. " Ryan Gladden, Director of Mastering & Emerging Technology, IDC LA

IDC LA needed a scalable, secure, and cost-effective solution for disaster recovery and nearline storage. Their prior cloud vendor was expensive and inflexible, creating challenges in managing large volumes of high-value media. With tight turnaround times and demanding client expectations, they required predictable costs and rapid access to protect both their content and their reputation for security.
'With Backblaze, I know exactly what my costs are going to be, and I can forecast for them,' Ryan Gladden, Director of Mastering & Emerging Technology of IDC LA, said. 'For content where we know we need high availability, it's the right temperature of porridge.'
IDC LA implemented Backblaze B2 as their primary off-site solution for backups generated via their data management platform. Integrated via the Backblaze S3 Compatible API, the system enables nightly backups of irreplaceable client content. Backblaze also serves as a high-availability nearline storage tier, helping IDC LA maintain performance while reducing on-premises load and simplifying data retrieval through their existing digital asset management (DAM).
IDC LA's success demonstrates how media companies can break free from the cost spiral of traditional cloud providers while actually improving their operational capabilities,' said Laquie TN Campbell, Senior Product Marketing Manager for media and entertainment at Backblaze. 'When a post-production facility can cut storage expenses and streamline operations, it not only gains greater freedom to choose the tools that fit its workflows, it also creates the opportunity to pass meaningful savings on to clients.'
The streamlined setup improves operational efficiency, enhances disaster readiness, and provides predictable cost forecasting, while saving 75% compared to IDC LA's previous solution.

AppLovin Corporation (APP): A Bull Case Theory
We came across a bullish thesis on AppLovin Corporation on Foliotrail's Substack. In this article, we will summarize the bulls' thesis on APP. AppLovin Corporation's share was trading at $437.34 as of August 7th. APP's trailing and forward P/E were 60.07 and 72.99, respectively according to Yahoo Finance. AppLovin (NASDAQ: APP) delivered an exceptional Q2 2025, reporting 77% revenue growth to $1.26 billion and a 99% surge in adjusted EBITDA to $1.02 billion, yielding an industry-leading 81% margin. This significantly outpaced prior full-year projections and was fueled primarily by the company's high-margin gaming ad business. AppLovin's Q3 guidance maintains this momentum, with expected revenue between $1.32–$1.34 billion and EBITDA of $1.07–$1.09 billion. The company's strategic shift away from mobile gaming to focus on its advertising technology platform is paying off, with a strong balance sheet showing $1.2 billion in cash, including $425 million from the Apps business sale. Capital returns remain a priority, with $341 million in share repurchases during the quarter. A pivotal development is the upcoming launch of AXON ads manager—a self-serve platform set to broaden AppLovin's reach beyond gaming and into untapped web-based advertising markets, including e-commerce. CEO Adam Foroughi highlighted this expansion as a transformative opportunity, positioning the company to automate and scale ad operations using AI. However, management also acknowledged the complexity of entering web advertising, citing differences in attribution and ecosystem fragmentation versus mobile. The company is addressing these with deeper third-party integrations and a Shopify app, while deliberately limiting customer onboarding to ensure the platform's Q4 rollout is executed smoothly. AppLovin's results not only reflect strong execution but also underline its evolving role as a performance marketing powerhouse, with multiple tailwinds in place to support continued growth and revaluation. The strategic focus, robust financials, and AI-led automation offer a compelling investment case. Previously, we covered a bullish thesis on AppLovin Corporation by Jimmy Investor in March 2025, which highlighted the company's AI-driven ad tech platform, strong financials, and pivot away from gaming. The company's stock price has appreciated by approximately 70% since our coverage. This is because the thesis played out. Foliotrail shares a similar view but emphasizes the momentum from AXON and web ad expansion. AppLovin Corporation is not on our list of the 30 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds. As per our database, 96 hedge fund portfolios held APP at the end of the first quarter which was 95 in the previous quarter. While we acknowledge the potential of APP as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. Starbucks Corporation (SBUX): 'I Have Been A Huge Beleiver,' Says Jim Cramer
We recently published . Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) is one of the stocks Jim Cramer recently discussed. Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX)'s stock has run into trouble in 2025 as it has gained a modest 2% year-to-date. Investors are concerned about the pace at which the firm's turnaround efforts are yielding results. In his previous comments about Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX), Cramer has defended the firm and its CEO, Brian Niccol. He kept up with the defense this time as well: 'I have been a huge believer and my charitable trust, I'm talking about this tomorrow at our monthly meeting, that Brian is being sold short. Brian Niccol, because, the throughput was what he had to cure first. It's kind of like Lip-Bu Tan, he had to, you know, get the balance sheet first. It's throughput that has to be, and he is fixing throughput. I don't know when you last time went to Starbucks, but you're gonna find that they're four minutes. It used to be like fifteen, twenty minutes. And now it's four minutes. The airports have been just ridiculous. He even got the service at the airports, which was something that I complained about endlessly.' Cramer discussed Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) in detail earlier. Here is what he said: 'Even though the headline numbers were weaker than expected, I found the overall results to be pretty encouraging. Keep in mind, Starbucks has been a long-term holding for my Charitable Trust, not always a good holding, but for the past year, ever since they poached Brian Niccol from Chipotle to take over as CEO, stock's been doing much better… Photo by nathan-dumlao-6VhPY27jdps-unsplash And that's what I found most encouraging about the Starbucks quarter, management's plan for improving the core business here at home. They're already showing some really promising results… At the end of the day, nothing else matters for Starbucks if it can't turn the US business around. Now, they've gotten a proven way to make that happen. There was plenty of other positive news too… While we acknowledge the potential of SBUX as an investment, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and have limited downside risk. If you are looking for an extremely cheap AI stock that is also a major beneficiary of Trump tariffs and onshoring, see our free report on the . Why Solaredge Technologies Was Soaring on Friday
Key Points A business association of powerful companies threw its weight behind the green energy sector. It formally lobbied the government to maintain its existing rules for clean energy credits. 10 stocks we like better than SolarEdge Technologies › The sun was shining brightly on Solaredge Technologies (NASDAQ: SEDG) stock as the trading week came to a close on Friday. Investors piled into the stock on news that an important group of energy consumers were lobbying the government to maintain the existing rules for clean energy subsidies. Solaredge's share price swelled by more than 17% as a result, providing a night-and-day contrast to the benchmark S&P 500 index's 0.3% decline. A rather sunny development On Friday, an industry association called The Data Center Coalition formally asked U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to uphold the existing framework under which wind and solar projects receive federal subsidies. Next week is the deadline set by President Trump for his administration to reset the rules governing the subsidies. It's almost a certainty that government officials will make them harder to obtain. In its request, the coalition wrote that "any regulatory friction that slows down deployment of new generation today directly impacts our ability to meet AI-era electricity demands tomorrow." Data centers are set to become an increasingly important customer grouping for the energy industry as a whole. Already vast consumers of power, they are greatly intensifying their demand because of the proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI), a collection of technologies that require considerably more resources than longer-established IT functionalities. A mighty coalition The coalition isn't a vague and fairly anonymous collection of lightweight businesses. It consists of some of the most powerful tech and financial companies moving the U.S. economy: Alphabet's Google is a member, as are Amazon Web Services and Visa. Given the collective power these companies wield, their message is sure to find an audience -- and perhaps affect the government's decision for the better.
