GreenLine partners with Shriram Finance to scale up green logistics
GreenLine continues to lead India's low-carbon logistics transformation. Its current fleet of over 650 LNG trucks serves marquee companies across sectors such as FMCG and e-commerce, metals and mining, cement, oil and gas, and chemicals. The fleet has already covered more than 40 million km, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 10,000 tonnes.
The company plans to deploy over 10,000 LNG and EV trucks, supported by a nationwide network of 100 LNG refuelling stations, EV charging stations, and battery swapping facilities. This comprehensive initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions by up to 1 million tonnes annually.
This partnership marks a significant step in GreenLine's ongoing mission to decarbonise India's transportation sector, which contributes nearly 15 per cent of the country's total carbon emissions. With over 4 million trucks currently in operation -- and the number continuing to grow -- India's road logistics sector remains one of its most carbon-intensive industries.
Aligned with the government's ambitious goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, GreenLine is committed to transitioning the heavy-duty vehicle (HDV) fleet to LNG and EV trucks to promote cleaner, more sustainable transport. With Shriram Finance's backing, the deployment of these vehicles is faster and more efficient, making green logistics more financially accessible for businesses across the country.

The company has acquired a 75 per cent stake for 233.25 million Australian dollars, about Rs 1,336 crore, through a transaction in Telstra Purple Pty, the filing said. What Is Versent Group? According to the filing, Versent Group is Telstra Purple Pty Ltd and is the integration of Versent, Epicon, Telstra Purple Digital and associated Cloud Access products. Infosys will have operational control, while Telstra will continue to retain a 25 per cent minority stake in Versent Group. 'This strategic collaboration will see Versent Group's cloud and digital transformation expertise boosted by Infosys' advanced AI capabilities, Cloud, Data and Digital consulting services. The collaboration will leverage Infosys Topaz and cloud offering Infosys Cobalt, as well as the cybersecurity capabilities of The Missing Link,' the filing said. With a team of 650 engineers, advisors, strategists spread across Australia, Versent Group strengthens Infosys' local presence. Representative Image Amazon Web Services (AWS) CEO Matt Garman has said that mastering 'soft skills' like creativity and adaptability, rather than highly technical knowledge, is key to succeeding in the age of artificial intelligence (AI). In a recent CNBC 'Closing Bell Overtime' interview, Garman shared the advice he gave his teenage child, who is in high school, which was: 'Develop your critical thinking skills in college, no matter what subject you study.' Garman believes that as more AI-powered tools become commonplace in the workplace, employers will increasingly value these human-centric skills over machine learning degrees. 'I think part of going to college is building [your] critical thinking. It's less about the development of skills, and it really is [about] how do you become a critical thinker? In some ways, I think that's actually going to be the most important skill going forward,' Garman noted. He added that in the age of AI, most people's top skill for achieving success will be critical thinking. 'You're going to want to be creative. You're going to want to be [good at] critical thinking. And you're going to want to be flexible. I think the ability to learn new things and adapt is going to be just as important as any particular skill that you learn,' Garman continued. How AI may not be able to replace some human jobs The range of skills and administrative tasks AI can perform is expanding rapidly. Garman's employer Amazon, is among several companies planning to shrink corporate staff while increasing the use of AI tools and agents in the coming years. However, research shows that AI still falls short of human intelligence in applying critical thinking and creativity to develop new ideas and make nuanced decisions. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also called critical thinking 'the most valuable skill of the future' for workers, especially those responsible for curating and refining AI-generated output, during a January 2024 event at Howard University. More US states tell AI to stay out of therapy because robots lack feelings
From life advice to late-night rants, people across the globe are pouring their hearts out to machines. Even therapists are turning to AI to assist in the treatment of patients. But this growing dependence on AI for comfort and advice is raising serious concerns. Psychologists and researchers warn that robots cannot replace the empathy and judgement of a trained human. To curb the increasing reliance on AI, Illinois has become the latest state in the US to outlaw the use of AI-powered chatbots for mental health treatment. The ban restricts the use of AI in therapy citing risks to safety, privacy, and the potential for harmful Illinois, lawmakers have passed a new 'Therapy Resources Oversight' law that forbids licensed therapists from using AI to make treatment decisions or to communicate directly with patients. The law also bars companies from marketing chatbots as full-fledged therapy tools without a licensed professional involved. Violations could result in civil penalties of up to $10,000, with enforcement based on public complaints investigated by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional is not the only state taking action. It is now the third state to impose such restrictions, joining Utah and Nevada. Utah introduced its rules in May, limiting AI's role in therapy, while Nevada followed in June with a similar crackdown on AI companies offering mental health services. The bans on using AI in therapy come amid mounting warnings from psychologists, researchers, and policymakers. They caution that unregulated AI chatbots can steer the conversations between the users and AI into dangerous territory, sometimes encouraging harmful behaviour or failing to step in when someone is in crisis.A Stanford University study (via The Washington Post) earlier this year found that many chatbots responded to prompts about suicide or risky activities — such as when a users asked chatbot for locations of high bridges to jump from the chatbot gave the list straightforward, even encouraging, answers rather than directing users to seek help.'This is the opposite of what a therapist does,' said Vaile Wright of the American Psychological Association, explaining that human therapists not only validate emotions but also challenge unhealthy thoughts and guide patients towards safer coping it's not just one study raising red flags. In another case, researchers at the University of California, Berkeley found that some AI chatbots were willing to suggest dangerous behaviour when prompted hypothetically — for example, advising a fictional addict to use drugs. Experts have also raised privacy concerns, warning that many users may not realise their conversations with chatbots are stored or used for training are even arguing that marketing AI tools as therapy is deceptive and potentially dangerous. 'You shouldn't be able to go on an app store and interact with something calling itself a 'licensed' therapist,' said Jared Moore, a Stanford researcher.- Ends
