IND vs ENG Test: Ben Stokes can't stop gushing over Rishabh Pant's strokeplay
The Times of India in England:
The last time
Rishabh Pant
batted in a Test match at Edgbaston, back in 2022, he scored 203 runs, with 146 out of them coming off 111 balls in a magical counter-attack in the first innings. That performance came when England, under captain
Ben Stokes
and Brendon McCullum, were starting to set a template for an ultra-aggressive brand of Test cricket which would come to be known as 'Bazball'.

No wonder Stokes' face lit up when the English media mentioned Pant's name in the pre-match media briefing on Tuesday. Pant may have hurt England with twin centuries in the first Test but that has only enhanced the unapologetic admiration Stokes has for him. 'Even though he's my opposition, I absolutely love watching Rishabh play cricket. I love the way he takes it on in all formats of the game,' Stokes gushed, the wide grin reminiscent of his expression after Pant charged at him off the second ball in the first innings at Headingley.
Stokes chose to highlight the unrelenting scrutiny that follows Pant because of his audacious batting style.

'He's got a bit of a stick in his time. But when you let that type of talent be free, the sort of thing that happened last week can happen,' Stokes said. 'Credit to him for getting two hundreds in the game. But we know we're going to get our chances with the way that Rishabh plays.
'On a different day, it could have looked a little bit different if one of those had gone straight up and to hand.

We know what he brings to the Indian team. But I really enjoy watching Rishabh play,' Stokes said while adding: 'There's always pressure on the shoulders of international sportsmen but playing for India, especially in cricket, there's probably a bit more on any other nation.'

Moeen, Flintoff give pep talks
Over the last two days,
Moeen Ali
and Andrew Flintoff visited the English practice sessions. Moeen was seen spending a considerable amount of time with off-spinner Shoaib Bashir on Monday afternoon while Flintoff spent time with Jofra Archer.
Moeen has tormented India in the past with his off-spin in a couple of series in 2014 and 2018. With the pitch expected to aid spin as the Test wears on and Moeen being a local here, Bashir looked locked in when he was taken aside for some technical talk.
Ben Stokes press conference: On Jasprit Bumrah 'problem', Rishabh Pant battle and more
'It's been a constant thing with us, getting former England players and let the players to talk to them. I think it's great for Bash (Bashir) too. They've never met until yesterday, which I found amazing. Bash was absolutely buzzing that he got to spend time with Moeen Ali yesterday.
'So, the more times that we can get people like that into the dressing room to offer their advice to specific individuals, the better,' Stokes said.

Tyreek Hill accused of using intimidation tactics in messy divorce battle with estranged wife Keeta Vaccaro
Tyreek Hill dragged into controversy as Keeta Vaccaro accuses him of manipulation during ugly divorce (Getty Images) The divorce between Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill and Keeta Vaccaro has turned into a bitter courtroom feud that's now being publicly aired in documents and legal filings, with accusations flying from both sides. What began as a private split is rapidly becoming a high-profile legal spectacle, revealing not only strained personal dynamics but also an increasingly contentious battle over control, reputation, and custody. Keeta Vaccaro calls out Tyreek Hill 's alleged 'silencing tactics' in explosive twist to divorce proceedings Vaccaro's legal team is pushing back hard against Hill's recent motion for a gag order, labeling it a veiled attempt to silence her in court. The motion, originally filed by Hill's lawyers on June 23, requested a Miami judge to bar Vaccaro from making statements in legal documents that could harm Hill's public image. But Vaccaro's attorneys argue that the move reeks of intimidation and hypocrisy. 'In terms of purpose, the Husband's motion is a clear attempt to silence and intimidate wife's counsel and control the representation that she receives in this litigation,' they stated in the response, which was first obtained by Daily Mail. They also pointed out, 'He wants to silence the wife's lawyers while his own pleadings disparage and denigrate the wife. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo ' Tyreek Hill & Keeta Vaccaro Divorce: Toxic Breakups | Humble Baddies The irony of Hill's complaint wasn't lost on Vaccaro's lawyers, who referenced what they called 'The Goose-Gander Rule,' pointing to what they see as double standards. They argue that while Hill wants to censor Vaccaro's legal commentary, he himself has made damaging allegations. In one such filing, Hill accused Vaccaro of stealing from him and fraudulently accessing his financial accounts to benefit herself and her mother. 'Three days before he filed his motion to enjoin, he filed a pleading in which he alleged… that the wife 'has a history of stealing,'' her lawyers noted, citing a headline that subsequently ran in media reports. Hill's attorneys, Michael Gottlieb and Christi Bright, claim the gag order is necessary to prevent further reputational damage, suggesting that the NFL player is a public figure under greater scrutiny. Vaccaro's response firmly counters that argument, claiming Hill simply doesn't want to 'look bad.' Beyond the battle over speech, the divorce has sparked disputes over finances and custody. Vaccaro, who shares an 8-month-old daughter named Capri with Hill, alleged that he has failed to pay temporary spousal or child support. She also accused him of withholding access to their shared home and a vehicle, denying her financial stability in the process. 'The motion is another example of the Husband's pattern of coercive control,' the response claimed. Tensions escalated further following a domestic dispute at the couple's Miami apartment in April — the same month Vaccaro filed for divorce, citing the marriage as 'irretrievably broken.' Police reports revealed that Hill had thrown a laptop and walked toward a balcony with their daughter. Though no arrests were made, officers noticed a bruise on Vaccaro's chest. In an emergency filing, Vaccaro claimed Hill disappeared for two nights following the incident and later took their daughter without her consent. She is now seeking exclusive use of the home and supervised visitation for Hill. The couple had married in November 2023 during the Dolphins' bye week, after being engaged for over two years. This unraveling, however, has exposed a much deeper breakdown than what the public had previously known, with both sides now prepared for a long legal confrontation. Varun eyes senior team return through Europe tour with India 'A'
Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist defender Varun Kumar is eyeing a comeback to the Indian men's hockey team with some good performances with the India 'A' squad in the upcoming tour of Europe. Varun, a potent defender, failed to make the Paris Olympics squad, and has been out of the the senior side for over a year. He was last seen in India colours during the friendly match against Germany in New Delhi in June last year. The dragflicker has set his sights on next month's Asia Cup to be held in Rajgir to make his comeback, and is aware that a good outing in the Europe tour will help his case. "Certainly, my personal goal is to return to the senior team. But more important for me right now is to improve my game. Not having played a proper tour in over one-and-a-half years, it is a long time and the game is constantly changing. The structure has changed and it has also become much faster. The way I am looking at it, is to start fresh," said Varun. "Missing out on the Paris Olympics was painful. I know I was in the reckoning to make the squad but now, I have left the past behind and ready to start fresh with this opportunity to play for India 'A'," added the dragflicker, who was also part of India's junior World Cup-winning team in 2016. "Playing the European teams, who are preparing for the Euro Cup will be quite exciting and challenging. It will be a learning experience for me and I know a good show here will count, especially with the Asia Cup coming up in India." The India 'A' team led by Sanjay will play two matches each against Ireland, France, and the Netherlands along with a match each against England and Belgium starting July 8. The matches will be held in Eindhoven and Amstelveen in the Netherlands and the match against Belgium will be played in Antwerp. "Personally, for me, it has been a tough road back into the core probable group. Last 7-8 months I have worked a lot on my fitness and also mentally, it has been extremely challenging," Varun said. "Returning to form has not been easy but I am really grateful to my family, teammates and coaching staff who have stood with me in tough times and constantly kept motivating me." The India 'A' team will leave for Amsterdam on Friday night from here.
