Cohesity, a leader in AI-powered data security, has announced the availability of its Cohesity Gaia integration with Microsoft 365 Copilot. The integration allows knowledge workers across an organization to tap into Cohesity backup data directly from the Microsoft 365 Copilot interface to gain insights and inform better business decisions.
'This integration marks a major leap forward in how enterprises can transform dormant data into strategic intelligence,' said Johnny Karam, Managing Director and VP, International Emerging Region, Cohesity. 'By giving users secure, AI-driven access to legacy data directly within Microsoft 365 Copilot, we are turning backup into a real-time business asset. In the UAE, where initiatives like the Digital Government Strategy and the National AI Strategy 2031 are reshaping public and private sector performance, this capability empowers organisations to lead with data, act faster and stay ahead of evolving demands.'
As part of the integration with Microsoft 365 Copilot, users can simply enter conversational questions via their Microsoft 365 Copilot interface. Cohesity Gaia searches across vast amounts of backup data effortlessly, pinpoints critical information quickly, and surfaces actionable information for any department or job function. Granular, role-based access controls limit responses to align with user permissions, protecting sensitive data.
'Generative AI has created a tipping point for enterprise AI deployments. The next phase of this journey will involve more AI-to-AI communications and expectations for transformative business outcomes,' said Chantrelle Nielsen, group product manager, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft. 'Microsoft 365 Copilot integration with Cohesity reflects this progression, giving enterprises more ways to take advantage of AI from the convenience of a single interface with a consistent user experience.'
'Cohesity and Microsoft continue to build on their partnership, working together to safeguard data and strengthen organizations' cyber resilience. This integration extends the value proposition even further to bring new benefits by instantly putting high-quality backup data at the fingertips of users across the enterprise,' said Jared Crowley, senior director of Security & Software Partners, SHI International Corp. 'The end result is faster, better decision making and fresh opportunities for maximizing customers' investments in Cohesity and Microsoft.'
Cohesity Gaia is a subscription-based service. Access to Cohesity Gaia capabilities within the Microsoft 365 Copilot is currently available at no additional cost for subscribers of both Cohesity Gaia and Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Dubai's villa prices are exploding amid 5-year property boom

Villas are emerging as the next big thing amid Dubai's nearly five-year property rally. With a 16 per cent year-on-year growth in prices, villas led the charge as overall residential prices jumped more than 13 per cent compared to 2024. Global property consultancy Knight Frank said Q2 2025 marked a 'historic high' in both transaction volumes and values. The April-to-June period saw over 51,000 home sales — 'an all-time quarterly record.' Faisal Durrani, Partner – head of research, MENA, said a segment to watch is the villa market. 'Just 20 per cent of the planned housing supply through to the end of 2029 will fall in the villa category, and with demand remaining centred on stand-alone family homes, the delta between villa and apartment price performance may well continue to widen.' When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, buyers focused on securing larger homes, with more space for a home office, a home gym, and/or outdoor space. 'More importantly for Dubai, there has been unrelenting demand from international HNWIs looking to secure the city's most expensive homes, which tend to be stand-alone, beachfront properties,' Durrani told Khaleej Times. Villas outperformed the broader market, with values climbing to Dh2,172 per square foot — a 4 per cent increase over the quarter. Villas are likely to remain in short supply over the medium term, and the price performance of this segment is expected to continue outperforming apartments. 'In fact, villa prices are now 49.3 per cent above 2014 peak levels, while apartment prices are up by 17.5 per cent over the same period.' Top areas for villas Villa price growth has been strong across both the luxury and affordable ends of the market. 'In Q2 2025, the highest quarterly growth was recorded in Victory Heights, Al Barari, Jumeirah Park, and Dubai Hills Estate, with average price increases ranging between 8-10 per cent. Al Barari and Dubai Hills, now firmly established as prime villa markets, continue to see strong demand driven by their lifestyle offerings and limited supply,' said Durrani. Annual figures show that the top performers include the more accessible areas of Green Community West, Al Furjan, and Emaar South, along with the affluent communities of The Meadows and Arabian Ranches. Who are the buyers? Will McKintosh, Regional Partner – Head of Residential, MENA, said the market is increasingly being shaped by genuine buyers rather than speculators, with resale activity within 12 months of purchase now at just 4-5 per cent, compared to 25 per cent in 2008. Durrani explained there is far less speculative market activity today compared to the two previous cycles, which were underpinned by 'buy-to-flip' activity. 'A metric we use to gauge market speculation is the proportion of homes resold within 12 months of acquisition. During 2008/09, this figure stood at 25-30 per cent, compared to nearer 4 per cent today, highlighting that there are more genuine end users in the market, in addition to long-term 'buy-to-let' or 'buy-to-hold' investors. Given the changing dynamic of buyers — many of whom are families — demand for villas remains strong.' Five years of growth in prices The total value of residential sales in H1 reached Dh268 billion, a 41 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. Knight Frank predicts that 2025 will surpass the Dh367 billion achieved in 2024. Citywide residential prices rose by 3.4 per cent in Q2 2025, reaching an average of Dh1,809 per square foot. This places current values 21.6 per cent above the previous market peak recorded in 2014. 'The sustained growth in prices — now approaching five consecutive years since the current cycle began in November 2020 — is a clear sign of a more stable and predictable market environment,' said Durrani. 'Knight Frank's forecasts for 2025 remain unchanged, with 8 per cent growth expected in the mainstream market and 5 per cent in the prime segment.' Off-plan sales accounted for nearly 70 per cent of all transactions in Q2. 'Prime residential areas such as Palm Jumeirah, Emirates Hills, Jumeirah Bay Island, and Dubai Hills Estate remain the most sought-after locations, particularly among international high-net-worth individuals.'

Al Wahda Mall to operate ticketless paid parking system from next week; here's how it works

KIRSTIN BERNABE (ABU DHABI) Al Wahda Mall will start operating its new ticketless parking system by next week, the shopping centre's management told Aletihad on Tuesday. Shoppers were accustomed to getting paper parking tickets from machines upon entry, paying at kiosks inside the mall, and then reinserting the validated ticket at the exit point. However, this process has been temporarily suspended as Al Wahda Mall upgrades its parking facility into a smart, environment-friendly system that won't require tickets or barriers. Mayank Pal, General Manager of Al Wahda Mall, confirmed to Aletihad that they would start using an AI-powered park-and-go system 'around next week'. Equipped with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology, the system scans vehicles' licence plates at entry and exit, calculating parking duration to determine fees. The vehicle number then serves as identification, replacing the old paper ticket format, said Sooraj Kp, Deputy General Manager at Al Wahda Mall. Visitors can pay using a mobile application or by scanning a QR code displayed on signboards around the mall. Pay stations have also been installed, allowing motorists to view and settle parking fees simply by entering their vehicles' plate number. Both cash and card payments are accepted. Additionally, mall staff will be present in the parking area to assist drivers and facilitate transactions. Al Wahda Mall is one of two popular Abu Dhabi shopping centres set to implement a smart parking management system in the coming days. Dalma Mall will begin operating its Parkonic facility from July 25, as reported by Aletihad. With the new system, Al Wahda Mall seeks to ease traffic movement at its parking lots, Pal said. 'We are looking to have seamless entry and exit for our visitors and this new technology will be able to prevent delay, particularly at entry and exit points.' The mall clarified that parking charges will remain unchanged. From 8am to 10am, the fee is Dh10 per hour. After 10am, parking is free for the first three hours; charges then apply as follows: Dh10 for three to four hours; Dh20 for four to five; Dh30 for five to six; Dh50 for six to seven; and Dh100 for over seven hours. Shoppers can have their fees waived or receive additional free hours through parking validation, with no minimum spend required. To do so, visit the customer care kiosk at the mall or inside LuLu Hypermarket, present the receipt, and provide the vehicle plate number.
