The so-called "Doomsday Mom" represented herself during trial, despite having no legal experience.Chad Daybell, her current husband, is awaiting a death sentence in Idaho for the deaths of the two children, and his wife from the time when his affair began with Lori Daybell. Chad Daybell is an author who has written several apocalyptic novels loosely based on Mormon religious teachings. The murders were committed as part of the couple's bizarre belief that people in their lives had come to be possessed by evil spirits. The sentencing on Friday comes at the end of her third and final trial. The case has gripped the US, after the two children went missing, along with Daybell and her husband. She was later arrested in Hawaii and the children's bodies were found on a property belonging to her husband in Idaho.

Two arrests over student's murder in Cambridge
Two men have been arrested in connection with a student's murder. The 20-year-old, who attended the EF International Language Campuses Cambridge, was assaulted and later pronounced dead on Friday evening. Police were called to Mill Park in Cambridge at 11.27pm on Friday as witnesses described hearing 'screaming'. On Saturday, Cambridgeshire Police said a 21-year-old man from Cambridge had been arrested on suspicion of murder and a 50-year-old man, also from the city, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both men remain in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station. EF International Language Campuses Cambridge said it understood the attack was 'carried out by a member of the public in an isolated incident'. Floral tributes have been left at the scene for the 20-year-old, who is yet to be named, while EF said it was 'deeply saddened by the loss'. EF International Language Campuses Cambridge told The Telegraph: 'We are deeply saddened to confirm that one of our adult students was fatally injured last night in a public space. 'Emergency services responded immediately, but the student tragically passed away. 'We are working closely with the local police, who are investigating the incident and have confirmed they made arrests. 'The safety and wellbeing of our students is our top priority. We are providing support to all students and staff affected by this tragic event and have organised counselling sessions. 'Our thoughts are with the student's loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, and we have offered our full support. 'We will not be commenting further while the investigation is ongoing.' Det Insp Dale Mepstead, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: 'The investigation remains ongoing, and we continue to urge anyone with information who has not yet come forward to contact us.'

The US office of special counsel, an independent federal agency, confirmed to NBC News on Saturday that it is investigating former Department of Justice prosecutor Jack Smith for possible violations of the Hatch Act. Smith led investigations into Donald Trump's part in January 6 US Capitol riot and alleged mishandling of classified documents. A new chilling photo has been released revealing the moments after the Montana shooter suspect fled the scene shirtless and barefoot. The grainy image, released by the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation, depicted Michael Brown, 45, running from The Owl Bar in Anaconda on Friday down an outdoor concrete staircase. He appeared to grip the walls wearing only black biker shorts after allegedly killing four people. The Montana Department of Justice said on Saturday afternoon that the search for Brown is still ongoing. Authorities are focused on the area off of Stumptown Road and are engaging ground and air resources. Three patrons and a bartender were killed in the shooting. It's unclear if Brown knew the victims or what the suspect's motives were. Authorities confirmed that Brown lived next door to the bar. The Montana Department of Justice said that more information would be released when it became available.
