Man killed by pick-up truck had a heart of gold, family says

A man who was knocked down and killed by a pick-up truck was "the loveliest and most generous man", his family has said.Mark Dickinson was struck while he was crossing Burnley Road, close to the junction with York Street in Crawshawbooth, just after 22:00 BST on 8 August, Lancashire Police said.The 57-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.His family said he had "an infectious personality" and "the biggest heart of gold".
"Mark was a devoted and loving partner of Tina for the last 30 years," they said."He was a dad, stepdad, grandad, son, brother and friend to many."They said he was "very outgoing", loved Karaoke and had "an amazing voice".The businessman, who had a painting and decorating company, "would help anyone with DIY, even on his day off".Police are investigating the collision and are continuing to appeal for information and footage.An 18-year-old man from Rawtenstall was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.Two 19-year-old men from Waterfoot, a 14-year-old boy from Waterfoot, and an 18-year-old man from Bacup, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving while impaired through drink or drugs.They have all since been released on bail pending further inquiries.

A MAN has tragically drowned after "disappearing beneath the water" while swimming at a popular UK beauty spot. Police have confirmed that Wojciech Berlan, 27, has sadly passed after getting into difficulty at Ensor's Pool in Nuneaton earlier today. Mr Berlan, from Redditch in Worcestershire, was found this afternoon after he failed to resurface from the water for five minutes, according to reports. Police were soon called to the scene, along with other emergency services just before 12.30pm. He was pulled from the water but confirmed dead at the scene at about 13:30, police said. The force are continuing to investigate on behalf of the coroner. Police have also confirmed that Mr Berlan's next of kin have been informed. They have urged anyone at the pool to come to them with any information.

A man has drowned after getting into difficulty while swimming at a Warwickshire beauty Berlan, from Redditch in Worcestershire, was swimming in Ensor's Pool in Nuneaton on Sunday afternoon, Warwickshire Police crews were called at about 12:30 BST to reports that the the 27-year-old man had disappeared in the water and not resurfaced for five was pulled from the water but confirmed dead at the scene at about 13:30, police said. The force is continuing to investigate on behalf of the Berlan's next of kin have been informed, a police spokesperson added, and anyone who was there at the time is asked to contact pool, in the south-west area of the town, is a former clay pit that served a nearby colliery and brick works and is now a site of special scientific interest.
