WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita police are searching for the person who opened fire on a car in north Wichita, injuring a 4-year-old boy and an adult Sunday night.
Cure Violence ICT says they've been walking around the neighborhood near 26th and Park Place, talking with community members about reducing gun violence. Members say they also want the family affected by this violence to know they're here to support them.

The 4-year-old boy suffered gunshot wounds to his back and buttocks, while the 32-year-old man suffered a gunshot to his upper back. Both went to the hospital with what police describe as critical but non-life-threatening injuries.
'So when we canvass, we canvass the area around the incident that was involved, because we know, again, that a shooting disrupts more than just the individuals that were involved,' said Gilmore.
Members say reducing gun violence starts from within the community.
'We have to understand who you know; we need to get to know who our neighbors are. Get to know who the neighbors are, who you know, what kids are playing outside,' said Raquel Reyes.
Cure Violence ICT team members say they'll continue to keep in contact with the family.
'Sometimes conflict happens. What doesn't have to happen is a child being shot,' said Gilmore.
The child and the man who were shot went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
