It was his 57th win in NASCAR and the third of the season for the experienced driver.

Photo byThe second half of the race became all about managing fuel. The top runners struggled on fuel, dropping pace lap after lap as they tried to save all over the track.
The fuel concerns allowed middle-of-the-pack runners like Hamlin to make up some serious ground and push for the win.
The racing was incredibly dramatic and aided by the fuel usage, leading to several over-takes and on-track battles during the last 30 or so laps.
Jeff Gluck, co-host of The Teardown podcast and writer for The Athletic, pointed out that it was the latest generation of cars that led to the incredible racing.
"Denny Hamlin said afterwards that this is maybe NASCAR's most underrated track now. It's perfect for the [Next Gen] car," Gluck said on the podcast.
"It's wide. It gives drivers lots of options. It's high-speed handling matters. It was a great crowd today.
"It was the first time that these fans hadn't been rained on in a few years here.
"It was a great day. It was really fun, a great weekend and nice positive way to end this little stretch of the season before we head to Mexico City."
Hamlin managed to keep his focus despite having a baby on the way. He previously claimed that he would skip a race to witness the birth of his third child.
He went as far as to say he would leave the race anyway up until Lap 50 if the call came of his wife going into labor.
It never came during the race in Michigan, and now he adds another win to his illustrious career.

Penske Automotive Group (Bloomfield Hills): $30.5 billion — up 5. 189. Lear (Southfield): $23.3 billion — down 15. Zoom in: Other top-500 companies in Metro Detroit include Ally Financial (255), BorgWarner (307), DTE Energy (337) and Autoliv (407). 'Heel Denny' Hamlin Showered With Praise After Intense Boos At Michigan
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin achieved his third Cup Series win of the season and 57th of his career on Sunday at Michigan International Speedway. Hamlin is a true veteran of racing, still competing at the age of 44 years and delivering wins. Despite his legendary status in NASCAR, Hamlin has become somewhat of a villain in the sport, often getting booed during his driver introduction and the podium ceremony as well. Photo byJeff Gluck, co-host of the Teardown and writer for The Athletic, broke down Hamlin's rise as the "bad guy" of NASCAR. "He gets by far the most boos in driver intros and then we were on pit road afterwards and you know he just gets showered with boos," Gluck said on the Teardown podcast. "He climbs out of his car and as soon as he gets showered with boos, he immediately goes into wrestling heel mode." "I love heel Denny. NASCAR needs that. NASCAR needs guys who embrace it and relish it and he does," co-host Jordan Bianchi added. The race in Michigan featured a ton of drama, from the drivers in the lead struggling with fuel management to others in the middle of the pack making up serious ground. Hamlin came from the middle, making a charge to the front, which resulted in an overtake at lap 197 of 200. The driver in the lead was William Byron until Hamlin passed him. Byron finished in 28th place after running out of gas - literally - at the end of the race. NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400 Results: 1. Denny Hamlin, No. 11 Toyota 2. Canada's EV mandate must be repealed, Ford Canada CEO says
Ford Canada CEO Bev Goodman said June 10 that Canada's zero-emission vehicle mandate must be repealed as the consumer appetite for electric vehicles falls dramatically short of government requirements. 'The targets on full battery-electric vehicles need to be aligned with what customers want, and customers have spoken,' she said at the Canada Automotive Summit, hosted in Vaughan, Ont., by the Automotive Parts Manufacturers' Association. Goodman said the automaker's EV sales dropped 'like a stone' to start 2025 after the $5,000 federal EV incentive program ran out of cash in mid-January. Sign up for Automotive News Canada Breaking Alerts and be the first to know when big news breaks in the Canadian auto industry. Ford Canada does not release monthly or quarterly sales results, but nationwide figures show ZEV sales in February and March slid to 20,878 vehicles. That's down 44.2 per cent compared with the same two months a year earlier, according to the latest data available from Statistics Canada. ZEV sales for February and March represented 6.6 per cent of total vehicle sales in Canada, far short of government adoption requirements. The legislated federal targets require ZEVs to account for 20 per cent of automaker sales in model year 2026, 60 per cent in 2030 and 100 per cent in 2035. Goodman said without the incentives and other enablers that will allow Canadians to go electric such as charging infrastructure, Ottawa is not positioned to deliver on its 'very aggressive' targets. The same applies to the provincial EV mandates on the books in Quebec and British Columbia, she said. 'Ultimately, it will have a negative impact, if these mandates stick, on the industry. It will have downward pressure on vehicle sales, it will have upward pressure on pricing, and those are real concerns for consumers and the industry as a whole.' Goodman said Ford and other automakers that build vehicles in Canada are engaging with Ottawa on getting the legislation repealed. Environment and Climate Change Canada, the lead federal department on the mandate, known officially as the Electric Vehicle Availability Standard, did not immediately respond to request for comment.
