Scots easyJet boss sacked for "comments about crew members' bodies"

Amanda Gallagher, an easyJet manager based in Glasgow, gave evidence at the Edinburgh Employment Tribunal on Tuesday, June 17.
A Scots easyJet boss fired a cabin manager who showed "repeated conduct" issues involving comments about crew members' bodies, a court has heard.
Amanda Gallagher, an easyJet manager based in Glasgow, gave evidence at the Edinburgh Employment Tribunal on Tuesday, June 17. As reported by Edinburgh Live, Ms Gallagher said that she terminated Ross Barr's employment for "gross misconduct".

Former cabin manager Barr, 48, is suing the airline for unfair dismissal and sexual orientation discrimination, alleging he was told he couldn't "make the same announcements as a gay colleague" over aircraft PA systems. He outlined on Monday accusations made against him by customers and crew members, such as making inappropriate jokes at work.

On Tuesday the court heard Ms Gallagher was present during Mr Barr's various disciplinary hearings. She also made the ultimate decision to terminate his employment.
Ms Gallagher addressed a customer complaint where Mr Barr was allegedly walking behind a female colleague and said "I'm not doing anything, just staring at your a**". Ms Gallagher had spoken with Mr Barr following the incident and told the court: "He said it was banter but didn't understand there was no need to be referencing someone's backside."
Mr Barr recalled using the word "bum" and also refuted that he referred to his comments as "banter".
The court also heard that Mr Barr once brushed past a female colleague in close quarters on an aircraft and said something to the effect of "I just brushed past your boobs". Ms Gallagher felt Mr Barr's conduct was not "professional in front of customers and other crew" especially when referring to "more sensitive areas".
Employment solicitor Jenni Darling, representing easyJet, brought up a separate incident where Mr Barr allegedly told a crew member to stow an extra seatbelt in storage. Ms Gallagher claimed he told the member of staff to "Stuff it in - I bet you've never had that problem".

On her decision to fire Mr Barr, she referred to both staff and customer complaints against the cabin manager. Ms Gallagher shared: "There was similar conduct from the past and it hadn't been rectified" and "Given that it was repeated behaviour, it was gross misconduct and it was termination of Mr Barr's employment."
Mr Gallagher also posed that Mr Barr presented a safety threat. She said: "A cabin manager is in a position of trust on board an aircraft [but] crew might not feel comfortable coming to you. If there is sexual conduct [and] if you have to complete safety-related duties in proximity to Mr Barr, [crew] might not complete those safety duties."

While giving evidence on Monday Mr Barr claimed conversations that took place in the rear of the aircraft were "quite personal" and "of a sexual nature". Ms Gallagher asserted on Tuesday that if such conversations were taking place in the cabin, she would expect it to be reported. She added: "There is no soundproof wall" on the plane and "customers can hear everything being said."
Mr Barr further told the court that his termination related to his public announcements (PAs), but Ms Gallagher claimed his PAs had "very little" to do with his termination. Instead, she stated, it was due to his "conduct".
She added: "It's around conduct and what we believe is right onboard. The fact a customer wrote in with a concern is not good for the brand of easyJet."
The hearing is presided over by Employment Judge Muriel Robison. The tribunal continues.

Scots monster's warped drugs & porn binge after murdering girlfriend then severing her head

The twisted sicko pretended to be his girlfriend as he sent a text to her mother BLADE BEAST CAGED Scots monster's warped drugs & porn binge after murdering girlfriend then severing her head A FIEND went on a warped drugs and porn binge after murdering his girlfriend then severing her head and trying to chop up her body, it was revealed yesterday. And a lawyer for evil Ewan Methven, 27, admitted that the monster would be seen as 'the personification of evil' for his savage slaughter of Phoenix Spencer-Horn, 21. After Methven admitted his guilt, the High Court in Glasgow was told that in the hours after the frenzied knife slaying he had accessed a porn website 170 times. The postman also arranged for several drug deliveries to his flat while tragic Phoenix — his partner of two years — lay butchered in the hall under a towel. It wasn't until two days later that Methven called 999 to report he'd killed the popular hotel and coffee shop worker of nearby Strathaven. Advertisement The brute claimed he'd had a 'psychotic blackout' due to booze, cocaine and steroid use. But even after pleading guilty to murder he still refused to give any explanation for subjecting petite Phoenix to such a gruesome death. Judge Lord Matthews said: 'This was a horrible and appalling crime.' The court heard Phoenix had seen her mother Alison Spencer the day before her death and had been in good spirits at work the day she was murdered. Advertisement But Methven texted her during her shift to complain that he felt 'lonely' due to her long hours at work, which she apologised for. He ordered a takeaway meal that night which the couple ate when Phoenix got back. Tragic Loss: Remembering Phoenix Spencer She contacted her mum at 9.37pm to say she was at home having dinner. But at around midnight a downstairs neighbour heard 'loud noise and hurried footsteps'. Advertisement Prosecutor Chris McKenna told how a check on Methven's phone later revealed this had 'coincided with increased activity recorded in an app measuring steps at 12.13am'. He continued: 'At that time, around or shortly after midnight on November 16, Methven attacked Phoenix by compressing her neck and repeatedly stabbing her to the head and body.' The court was then informed of Methven's grotesque behaviour as his girlfriend lay dead. When Alison tried messaging her daughter the following morning, he had replied — initially claiming 'Phe is not up yet' and that he'd get her to message when she was. Advertisement Later, the twisted sicko pretended to be his girlfriend as he sent a text to her mother. It stated: 'Hey sorry I've just woken up xxx'. Another message then claimed Phoenix was 'all good'. Just minutes later, Methven began logging on to adult websites. Mr McKenna said: 'Throughout the day on November 17, analysis of his phone and search history revealed that, for a prolonged period over several hours, he accessed pornography from 8.12am through to 6.39pm. Advertisement 'PHE, MY DARLING ANGEL' By Bart Dickson PHOENIX Spencer-Horn's devastated mum told how her daughter's savage murder had left her family 'shattered' - and they would remain 'broken forever' over their loss. Alison Spencer, from Strathaven, Lanarkshire, posted the emotional tribute to the 21-year-old after her funeral in December last year. She said: 'We have had to come to terms that we will never cuddle, kiss, laugh with her again and never get served one of her brilliant barista coffees with the perfect latte art which always made you feel special of how much love and precision she put into making them. 'We now only have the photos and videos to be blessed with her stunning smile, the stunning smile that the people who were lucky enough to have met Phe were left with after encountering her amazing energy and radiance. 'The last couple of months have undoubtedly been the worst we have ever gone through in our lives, having to accept that our fantastic, wholesome, stunning daughter has gone from the world and won't ever be coming back. 'Our hearts were shattered and broken forever, life will never be the same again without our Phe. 'RIP Phe, 21 forever. My darling angel.' A commemorative bench is being created by local craftspeople while a fundraiser launched after her death raised £6,440 to support her family. 'He was noted to have accessed a pornographic video site 170 times.' Concerns were then raised when Phoenix did not turn up for work on November 18. Methven eventually dialled 999 that afternoon, stating he'd had 'a drug-induced psychotic break' and that he had 'killed' his girlfriend. He told the operator: 'The past day I have been trying to kind of muster up the courage to phone.' Advertisement Methven said Phoenix remained in the hall with a knife beside her. He added that he'd been taking steroids and cocaine, which he believed had been spiked. Methven said: 'I totally blacked out through the full thing.' He mentioned having 'stabbed' and 'choked' Phoenix, adding: 'It was f***ing horrible.' Advertisement Asked by a police officer who came on the line if Phoenix could still be alive, Methven replied: 'I know she is dead, mate. She is dead.' Cops soon arrived at his flat and made the grim discovery of her remains. Mr McKenna told the court: 'Phoenix's naked and mutilated body, with her head decapitated, was discovered by police covered up within the hall of their home. 'An attempt had also been made by him to sever her torso, right wrist and ankle from her body. Advertisement 'There were two bloodstained knives lying next to the mutilated body. "A further bloodstained knife was found discarded in the bedroom.' After his arrest, Methven told cops: 'I could not stay here with her like that. I tried to dismember her. I moved her from the bath and put her there.' And after being put in a police cell, he said: 'I guess this is what my next 25 years look like.' Advertisement The court was told Phoenix had suffered 20 stab wounds, including the fatal one to the chest. Methven also admitted a bid to defeat the ends of justice. His advocate, Tony Graham KC, said: 'Those related to Phoenix and those who are friends are likely to regard Ewan Methven as the personification of evil. 'He wishes to express publicly how truly sorry he is for the death. Advertisement "He recognises the relatives and friends will never be able to forgive him. He will not be able to forgive himself. 'He understands the bereaved will seek an explanation, but he cannot provide an explanation.' Lord Matthews deferred sentencing until next month. As Methven was led away to jail, a man in the public gallery shouted 'beast' at him.

Trio of drug dealers busted on motorway after cops open secret compartment

The gang shipped huge quantities or heroin and cocaine across the country using names such as 'TupacDon' and 'Simonsays', before their operation came crashing down. A trio of big-time drug dealers are the latest crooks to be busted after police hacked the encrypted messaging platform EncroChat. The gang shipped huge quantities or heroin and cocaine across the country using names such as 'TupacDon' and 'Simonsays', before their operation came crashing down - when cops stopped found a secret compartment of a car on a the M61. ‌ As the Manchester Evening News reports, Mohammed Omayr, 41, from Chorlton; Abdul Bahadir, from Oldham, 41; and Husnain Ali, 36, from Bolton, have all been handed lengthy jail sentences after a probe uncovered 'dirty' cash, designer clothes and watches. ‌ Omayr headed up the sale, distribution, returns, testing, storage, and payments for a huge haul of class A drugs, according to Greater Manchester Police. He directed his courier, Bahadir, to shift massive amounts of cash and to deliver drugs to customers across the country on a daily basis, with stashes of cocaine and heroin hidden in a compartment of his car. Bahadir, who also ran Omayr's 'stash houses', had originally acted as the gang's accountant, but later became a courier as their business became more and more successful, using the EncroChat handles 'TupacDon' and 'Simonsays'. Ali took over Bahadir's role of the gang's accountant, which saw him counting and packaging the money for onward delivery and storage. The trio used the now defunct encrypted messaging platform, Encrochat, which allowed crooks to communicate safely away from eyes of law enforcement agencies. ‌ That ended when investigators hacked into EncroChat's server in Roubaix, northern France, in April 2020, sending bogus updates to devices across the globe which effectively mined the incriminating data criminals wanted so much to conceal. Detectives brought the trio to justice after trawling through thousands of messages they exchanged as part of their operation, with Ali also using same handles on occasions. ‌ Officers swooped on the evening of Tuesday, July 28, in 2020, stopping a car on the southbound carriageway of M61. Bahadir was at the wheel while Ali was a front seat passenger. Police searched the car, uncovering the secret compartment which was packed full of cocaine, mixing agents, and digital scales. They were both arrested. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. At Bahadir's address in Oldham, police recovered over £157,000 in cash hidden around the property, a vacuum packing machine, digital scales, and 'vast amounts' of luxury designer clothing. At Omayr's home in Chorlton, police found almost £25,000 in cash, designer clothing and a watch. On his driveway, he had a black Lamborghini Urus, estimated to be worth more than £200,000 and more cash. The men were finally brought to justice when they were jailed at Manchester Crown Court on Monday (June 16). ‌ Omayr, of Wilbraham Road, Chorlton, was jailed for 16 years and four months after a jury had earlier convicted him of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. Bahadir, of Allama Iqbal Road, Oldham, was jailed 11 years and six months. Ali, of Spinning Mews in Bolton was sentenced to eight years and 11 months. The pair had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. ‌ After the hearing, Det Con Bryan Deighton, of Bury police, said: "These men went to great lengths to conceal their illicit enterprise, they used encrypted mobile phones and built a hidden compartment in the cars they used to transfer the commodity in, all in an attempt to operate in secret. "These men were driven by greed and spent their obscene proceeds of crime on designer clothes and flashy cars, unbothered that this wealth was gained at the expense of vulnerable drug users. "I hope today's sentence is a stark reminder to criminals across Greater Manchester, regardless of time passed, we continue to investigate those who used encrypted phones, and we will continue with our relentless pursuit until you are brought to justice."
