Man United 'make contact with entourage' of former Bayern Munich star over potential switch to Old Trafford

Daily Mail14-07-2025
Manchester United have reportedly made contact with the entourage of a former Bayern Munich star over a possible move to Old Trafford.
The player in question is currently at Lyon having left the Bundesliga champions in 2022 to return to his boyhood side.
According to French outlet L'Equipe, the Red Devils are exploring a move for midfielder Corentin Tolissso.
The publication added that Tolisso, 30, is not said to be 'insensitive' at the idea of a switch to the Premier League.
However, Lyon are not planning to sell Tolisso, as they plan to make him the fulcrum of Paolo Fonseca's side.
What could complicate matters is that Les Gones have aready allowed club legend Alexandre Lacazette to leave the club.
But they could still allow Tolisso to depart the club given the concerning state of their finances that could have seen them playing in Ligue 2 next season.
Last week, Lyon announced that they had won their appeal against their relegation from Ligue 1.
Had the decision stood, it would have meant that FA Cup winners Crystal Palace would have been in next season's Europa League.
However, it now means the south London side are set to be 'relegated' to the third-tier competition thanks to UEFA's rules on multi-club ownership.
As Mail Sport revealed, Palace officials jetted to UEFA headquarters last month to plead their case.
Competition rules mean that, in instances where one person has control over multiple clubs which qualify for the same European tournament, the one which finished higher in its domestic league takes the slot.
However, the failure to take action to separate Textor from the club before UEFA's March 1 deadline landed them in an administrative nightmare.
There had been hope for Palace after Lyon were relegated after breaching financial rules in France.

Introducing the show, Chapman said: 'The Premier League is back and Match of the Day is back. "You may have seen and heard there's a big change to the show this season, and that is that Wayne Rooney has joined us as a regular pundit. Article continues below 'Some things don't change though, and Alan (Shearer) is still here.' Lineker's exit from the show had always been a planned one, with his intention to host the FA Cup final and lead coverage from next year's World Cup in North America, but his departure was brought forward following a social media row over a post he made about Zionism, for which he apologised. "Can't miss Match of the Day," he wrote, accompanied by a hands-up emoji. He said about his new venture: "I can't wait to host The Box. I've always felt right at home in the box on a football pitch and whilst this is a different proposition, the fundamentals are similar. "The contestants will have to quickly and masterfully work out how each game works, whilst also trying to get ahead of the competition to take control. Mark Chapman - one of three presenters who will be taking over from Lineker alongside Gabby Logan and Kelly Cates - was in the hot seat for the first episode of the post-Lineker era. He was joined in the studio by usual suspect, Alan Shearer, and Wayne Rooney, who has signed an £800,000 deal to appear on the show regularly for the upcoming season. With new teams and players in the top flight as well, there was naturally a new intro compilation backed by the iconic Match of the Day theme tune. Chapman kicked off the proceedings with a joke about the changes, quipping that Rooney was the only real change before adding that Shearer was delighted to see Sunderland back. As it turned out, Shearer had a moment of choler on the show as he launched a huge rant about Toon rebel Alexander Isak as the Swede continues to try to force an exit. Shearer and Rooney discussed the 25-year-old's situation, drawing on Rooney's own experience when he tried to quit Manchester United. "You can imagine the anger that they're (the fans) feeling that someone is taking the liberty of saying I'm refusing to play. "You just can't do that on a three-year contract." Taking to social media, fans gave a mixed verdict on the show. One fan said: "Cringeing for Wayne Rooney on Match of the Day. Just not a natural presenter, unfortunately." A second said: "Mark Chapman is a fantastic host." A third added: "But my goodness what an upgrade in presenter, Mark Chapman the best in the business." Another said: "Mark Chapman, Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney boring boring boring the premiership the best league in the world and you can't think of having some young people on doing something different? No bring Wayne in who's not a very good chatter really is he? To be honest." A fifth said: "Feels like I'm watching MOTD2 with Mark Chapman hosting." A sixth said: "Alan Shearer not saying a SINGLE word about Sunderland. Embarrassing. Like a child." A seventh said: "Really excited to watch the new Match of the Day but Shearer and Rooney as co-pundits at the same time…. No." An eighth wrote: "No secret that Rooney supports Everton; but openly and professionally talks and analyses Liverpool's play." A ninth said: "The worst match of the day without Gary Lineker." A tenth added: "Added bonus: Lineker isn't host!!" Lineker said goodbye to the show at the end of last season, having presented it since 1999. 4 TRANSFER NEWS LIVE - KEEP UP WITH ALL THE LATEST FROM A BUSY SUMMER WINDOW
