Replace trees cut for road widening: Bicholim locals
Bicholim:
The authorities have completed the work of cutting trees that were obstructing road widening work from Bicholim bridge up to IDC road via Muslimwada. Bicholim residents have raised concern over the cutting of several trees on the stretch and have demanded that authorities replant trees in place of the old ones once the work is completed.
Locals have alleged that even trees not obstructing the road widening work were cut.
'Road widening is okay, but it should be followed by planting trees in coming monsoon. Trees like badam and Jamun can be planted by giving the responsibility of its maintenance to the
Bicholim municipality
,' said Deepak Nawathe, a local.
