Eli White hit a three-run homer and a solo shot, helping the Atlanta Braves beat the Cincinnati Reds 4-2 on Sunday in the rain-delayed MLB Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway.
White's first homer of the afternoon gave Atlanta a 3-1 lead in the second inning at the historic racetrack. The ball hit the safer barrier after clearing the outfield wall and the track itself.
He added his sixth homer of the season on a leadoff shot in the seventh.
Cincinnati went 1 for 8 with runners in scoring position and left 12 on base. Brent Suter (1-2) got the loss.
Atlanta came in having clinched the season series, winning four of the first six games. The teams split the first two in Cincinnati before coming to Bristol.
The game was scheduled for Saturday, but it was suspended in the first inning because of persistent rain.
Hurston Waldrep (1-0) was on the mound for Atlanta when play resumed. The right-hander was brought up from Triple-A Gwinnett and traveled about 250 miles to Bristol Motor Speedway early Sunday morning. He pitched 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball for his first career win.

The Reds loaded the bases with two out in the eighth after a balk by Tyler Kinley and a walk by Tyler Stephenson. Ke'Bryan Hayes then hit a hard grounder to third, but Luke Williams made a diving stop and threw to second for the forceout.
This was the first time in six games between these teams that it was decided by more than a single run.
The Braves will begin a series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, with RHP Erick Fedde (3-11, 5.33 ERA) taking the bump for Game 1. As for the Reds, they start a series on the road against the Chicago Cubs on Monday. LHP Nick Lodolo will be on the mound to start that one for the Reds.

Dan Campbell gives positive update on Morice Norris
Lions safety Morice Norris was transported to an Atlanta hospital Friday night after taking a knee to the head. Lions coach Dan Campbell offered an update after the game was suspended, with the final 14:50 unplayed. "Obviously thoughts and prayers with Mo Norris," Campbell said. "We got some positive information on him when he [arrived] at the hospital. I'll have to just leave it like that. When something like that happens, it puts things in perspective. We're just praying for Mo." Campbell then expounded on the positive news. "He's breathing. He's talking. It's good. He's got some movement," Campbell said. "Now, they're running more tests." Norris was trying to tackle Falcons running back Nathan Carter on the first play of the fourth quarter when Carter's knee inadvertently hit Norris' head. Norris immediately went limp. Medical personnel worked on Norris for 20 minutes before he was loaded into an ambulance that was driven out to midfield. "It's an eye-opener," Campbell said. "It hits. It hits a little different. It puts things in perspective. Man, it's a violent game, and we love it, but when something like this happens, the silver lining is, man, the brotherhood. To see all those guys, from that team, our team, kind of come together and everybody thinking about another player means a lot." When play resumed, Falcons quarterback Emory Jones took a snap and held the ball. The players eventually gathered in a circle, held hands and bowed their heads. Finally, with 6:31 remaining, officials called the game, something both head coaches already had agreed to do. "Though that was the right thing to do," Falcons coach Raheem Morris said. Campbell said Norris' mother is at the hospital with him, and some members of the staff will stay behind until Norris is ready to go home.

Lions' Norris hospitalized after scary injury, NFL pre-season game suspended
The Detroit Lions' NFL pre-season game was suspended after Detroit safety Morice Norris suffered a serious injury and was taken from the field at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium in an ambulance. Norris was attempting a tackle on Atlanta's Nathan Carter when he appeared to take an inadvertent knee to the head. He lay motionless on the ground for several minutes and was tended by medical staff from both teams. "He's breathing, he's talking. It's good. He's got some movement," Lions coach Dan Campbell said in opening comments on Norris's condition at his post-game news conference. "Now they'll just run more tests." Players from both teams looked on with concern as Norris was treated on the field, eventually joining hands in a prayer circle. Both teams agreed to let the remaining 13 minutes on the clock run out. The contest was officially suspended with 6:19 remaining and the Lions leading 17-10. Campbell said he agreed with Falcons coach Raheem Morris on suspending the game.
