1. MEMRI Special Dispatch No. 12109, Qatar-Affiliated Journalists And Islamic Scholars Criticize Call To Disarm Hamas Issued By UN High-Level International Conference For Implementation Of Two State Solution: It Is A 'Betrayal Of Allah,' 'Collaboration With The Enemy'; Rights Will Be Achieved Only By Force, August 5, 2025. This call is in contradiction to Qatar's own vote in support of the decision to disarm Hamas taken in the conference convened by President Macron and Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
2. MEMRI Daily Brief No. 830, After The Israel-America-Iran War, What Can President Trump Do Now? By Yigal Carmon, August 5, 2025. If the regime is not changed, Shi'ite Iran on the one hand, and, Sunni Turkey, Syria, and Qatar on the other – who unlike Iran pretend to be allies of America but in fact, are absolute enemies – may bring the region into chaos. Regime change does not necessarily involve deploying American troops. It is enough to politically support the rights of ethnic minorities, 50% of Iran's population, against the Ayatollah's repression.
3. "The amount that this country is willing to disregard Qatar's impact... is mind-boggling." His remarks align with ISGAP's Qatar Report, exposing how Qatari funding and influence empower Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood, and a broader Islamist agenda that undermines peace and democracy. Deadly clashes reignite between Syrian Army and SDF

2025-08-12T13:05:33+00:00 Shafaq News – Damascus Violent clashes erupted between the Syrian army and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Tal Ma'az, east of Aleppo, the Syrian Ministry of Defense reported on Tuesday. According to a ministry statement, two SDF groups attempted to infiltrate army positions around 2:35 a.m., resulting in the death of one Syrian soldier. Army units later responded ''within engagement rules, repelling the infiltration and forcing the attackers to retreat to their original positions.'' Describing the escalation as part of frequent SDF attacks on army sites in Manbij, the ministry further condemned the SDF's intermittent closures of major roads in Aleppo city, labeling these actions as violations of agreements with the Syrian government. Earlier, the SDF accused Damascus-affiliated groups of provocative actions and ceasefire violations across several areas, including near Deir Hafer in eastern Aleppo countryside, as well as the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods—claims the Syrian Ministry of Defense subsequently dismissed. The ministry also dismissed footage purportedly showing significant army reinforcements heading toward contact lines near Deir Hafer and Tishrin Dam, calling the movements 'military training.' Tensions between Damascus and the SDF persist despite a March agreement to integrate some SDF units into the Syrian army. In recent weeks, both sides exchanged fire in Aleppo's countryside and carried out limited incursions, particularly following the recent 'The Unity of Stance Conference.'

Iran's Larijani: Hezbollah and resistance movements need no guardianship

Shafaq News - Baghdad Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani asserted on Tuesday that Lebanon's Hezbollah and other resistance movements operate independently and 'answer to no guardian.' Speaking at a press conference in Baghdad, Larijani described the peoples of Iraq and Lebanon as 'mature and courageous,' emphasizing that Iran does not dictate their political choices, according to Tasnim News Agency. He dismissed allegations of Iranian interference in Iraq's elections as 'inaccurate,' noting that his country 'shares ideas, but does not issue orders.' Regarding the recent Iran–Iraq security memorandum signed under the oversight of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, he highlighted its core as a commitment by both sides to prevent 'others from harming the security of either country.' Larijani further elaborated that Hezbollah and other resistance factions, including in Iraq, have undergone significant growth in political awareness, making any form of oversight unnecessary. Arriving in Baghdad on Monday for a two-day official visit, Larijani met with Iraq's PM, president, parliament speaker, foreign minister, and other influential figures. The trip comes at a time when Washington is pressing Iraq to block the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Authority law—legislation that would formalize and expand the powers of the Iran-aligned coalition—and to push for its disarmament. Tehran has resisted these moves, warning that 'without it, the Americans would have swallowed Iraq.' The visit also coincides with growing international calls for Hezbollah in Lebanon to surrender its weapons. Tehran rejects the disarmament push as an American- and Israeli-backed scheme aimed at weakening the movement, while critics of Iran view this position as interference in Lebanon's internal affairs. SDF delegation arrives in Damascus to resume talks with Syrian government

Also in Syria SDF accuse Damascus-affiliated groups of ceasefire breaches Syria launches probe into gruesome Suwayda hospital killing amid backlash SDF demands groups 'supported by Turkey,' Damascus cease attacks Syria cancels Paris talks with Rojava after unity conference A+ A- ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - A delegation from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northeast Syria (Rojava) arrived in Damascus late Monday for renewed talks with Syria's interim government, Rudaw has learned. The discussions aim to advance the implementation of a key agreement to integrate the Kurdish-led forces into the Syrian military structure. Rudaw's correspondent in Damascus, Dilkhwaz Muhammad, reported that 'an SDF delegation has arrived in the Syrian capital' to launch a new round of talks on implementing the March 10 agreement between SDF Commander Mazloum Abdi and Syria's interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa. The Abdi-Sharaa landmark agreement outlines the integration of 'all civil and military institutions in northeast Syria [Rojava] under the administration of the Syrian state,' and establishes a 'ceasefire across all Syrian territory.' Since its signing in March, several rounds of discussions have been held to finalize the implementation of the deal. According to Muhammad, the SDF delegation is led by Elham Ahmad, foreign relations co-chair of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES). In a late July interview with Rudaw, Ahmad said that while the talks with Damascus were making progress, they 'had not yet reached the level of formal negotiations.' She described the meetings as 'a form of dialogue' aimed at addressing the broader Syrian issue. Emphasizing Kurdish officials' support for a decentralized political system in Syria, Ahmad then-argued that centralized rule has long contributed to the country's instability. Decentralization, she said, would ease the burden on the central government by allowing regional administrations to oversee services, cultural affairs, language policy, and internal security. Ahmad also noted that a key obstacle to implementing the Abdi-Sharaa agreement lies in differing interpretations of the integration process. While the SDF seeks to join the Syrian army as a cohesive unit, Damascus insists on integrating fighters individually into existing military units. In late July, Qutaiba Idlbi, director of American affairs at Syria's foreign ministry, told Rudaw that a follow-up meeting between the Syrian government and the SDF was scheduled to take place in Paris "soon" to finalize the integration process. However, the Syrian interim government abruptly canceled the Paris talks on Saturday, citing a recent unity conference in Hasaka - attended by more than 400 representatives from various Syrian minority groups - as a breach of the Abdi-Sharaa agreement. The conference called for amendments to the transitional constitution, which critics say gives excessive powers to interim President Sharaa while sidelining non-majority communities. A government source told state media that 'this conference has dealt a blow to the ongoing negotiation effort. Accordingly, the government will not participate in any meetings scheduled in Paris.' While the SDF delegation's visit to Damascus suggests an easing of tensions, it remains unclear whether the canceled Paris talks will be rescheduled.
