Fire breaks out in parking structure of Nashville library and explosions are heard
Eli Gilmore, a Nashville musician who lives in the apartment building next door, said he heard loud explosions begin around 1:15 a.m. local time.
'We were sitting around and I just looked over and saw the black smoke coming out of the garage, and then we just started hearing cars exploding, one after another. We saw a floor crack and fall in. It's been shooting sparks across the street.'
On a FaceTime call with The Associated Press, he showed video of the building with smoke pouring out of it and emergency vehicles surrounding it. He said at least 50 firefighters were visible on the scene.
The city's fire department could not immediately be reached.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A fire broke out Wednesday on the USS New Orleans warship off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, leaving two sailors with minor injuries. The fire on the amphibious transport dock ship has been extinguished and its cause is under investigation, the U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet said in a statement. The fire on the 684-foot-long vessel lasted almost 12 hours, igniting as the USS New Orleans was in water near White Beach Naval Facility in Okinawa. Sailors on the ship got help fighting the fire from the crew of the USS San Diego, another warships that transports troops and aircraft, as well as the Japanese coast guard and military. The Navy said its crew will stay aboard the ship. The USS New Orleans, which was commissioned in 2007, can hold up to 800 people. It comes after another fire that burned for five days on the USS Bonhomme Richard in San Diego in July 2020. A sailor was charged and later acquitted of starting it. A Navy report concluded that there were sweeping failures by commanders, crew members and others involved. The ship was left with extensive structural, electrical and mechanical damage and was later scrapped.

Grandmother's craft store sees influx of new visitors after grandson's Facebook post goes viral
A grandma's quiet craft shop in Holdingford, Minnesota got a big surprise thanks to her loving grandson and a viral Facebook post. Rosanne Forster has been selling her handmade gifts at Forster's Craft Corner for nearly 30 years in a cozy she-shed off Highway 238. She makes ribbon roses and baskets, but in recent years, the business has slowed. "It's her own little shop, and I mean, needs to be shared with people," said Tyler Larson, Forster's 18-year-old grandson. In early July, he posted a listing on Facebook Marketplace for his grandma's store. The post read that he "would love for her to have some more business. You don't have to buy anything if you don't want to, just showing up and sharing a chat would be more than enough." Larson's heartfelt message led to social reactions that immediately began driving new foot traffic. Forster herself had no idea her grandson had posted about the store. She said she doesn't have access to the internet or a smartphone. Learning that her grandson's plea was behind her new visitors made it more meaningful. "It's been fun, and I've met a lot of wonderful people, and they had good stories, you know, as to that they went out of their way just to come to see me and help me out," she said. Forster keeps track of all her new shoppers in a guestbook. It's a memorable act of love and a meaningful goodbye from grandson to grandmother before he heads off to college. "I think it was a great, great way to end off the summer," Larson said. "I'm very, very blessed to have the outcome that we did." "Every single person that came says, I'm here because of your grandson, and he is so special that he posted something like that, you know," Forster said. The craft corner's hours vary. 3 people rescued from water in Deep Creek after jet ski crash
Chesapeake firefighters were called to Deep Creek after a report of a jet ski crash and found three people, stranded in the water in Deep Creek, Chesapeake, according to a press release from the Chesapeake Fire Department. The incident occurred just north of the Deep Creek Locks and all three were transported to shore without incident. No injuries were reported. The three people were found stranded in the water, clinging to a duck blind, a structure used to conceal hunters from ducks. The department responded to the water rescue incident at about 4:57 p.m. after hearing a jet ski struck a submerged object. Multiple marine resources were dispatched to assist with the rescue and Boat 8, operating out of Deep Creek Station 8, arrived at 5:20 p.m. and made contact with the people.
