KPDN Labuan director Junaidah Arbain said the most common violations involved the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, with 49 cases, followed closely by 31 cases under the Weights and Measures Act 1972.

KOTA BARU: Police have arrested five suspects believed to be involved in illegal moneylending activities, including threats and acts of mischief, such as splashing red paint on borrowers' homes. Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the suspects, aged between 25 and 39, were detained under Ops Vulture in separate raids. The first suspect was apprehended on Wednesday (July 23) in Pasir Tumboh, Kubang Kerian, while the other four were arrested on Friday following a red paint incident in Pasir Hor. Police also seized 34 items believed to have been used in these activities, including red paint, threatening notes, clothing, face masks, mobile phones, and motorcycles. "Preliminary investigations revealed that all five suspects are believed to be linked to at least nine cases of property damage in Kota Baru, Tumpat, and Tanah Merah. "Their actions included breaking window panes with stones, pasting threatening notes, and padlocking borrowers' gates as a form of intimidation," he said in a statement on Sunday night. Mohd Yusoff said the case is being investigated under Section 5(2) of the Moneylenders Act 1951 and Sections 427/506 of the Penal Code. Yunus, during the meeting, sought Malaysia's support for Bangladesh to join the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). "We want to become a part of ASEAN, and we will need your support," he told Nurul Izzah, according to a Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha report. Bangladesh applied to become an ASEAN sectoral dialogue partner in 2020. Yunus also invited Malaysian companies to invest in Bangladesh's growing economy. "Asia is ageing rapidly, but Bangladesh has a lot of young people. Half of our population is under the age of 27. Set up your industries here and export from Bangladesh. It will help both our economies," he said. The interim government's chief advisor informed the PKR deputy chief about Bangladesh's political reforms following last year's uprising, which ended Sheikh Hasina's nearly 16-year rule. Nurul Izzah spoke at Dhaka University on Sunday at a conference marking the first anniversary of the July Revolution.
