I'm surprised how much 007 news the 2025 movie schedule has yielded. One moment we were all sitting there wondering what's next for James Bond 26, and then a new development crossed the cultural gun barrel. With Amazon-MGM's 007 deal giving the studio full creative control, the world has been left to wonder just why Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson would give up their control over the franchise?
THR has spoken to a 'source familiar' with this earthshaking development, and it appears that Jeff Bezos may have been the overall catalyst. In a rundown that theorizes what actually happened, this unnamed party alleges that the founder of Amazon pulled the trigger due to this concern:
He read her quote in the Journal and got on the phone and said, 'I don't care what it costs, get rid of her.
That 'quote in the Journal' is from that report on Barbara Broccoli's alleged frustrations with Amazon. It's an unsurprising development, as that supposed bombshell wasn't exactly flattering to the commerce giant's image. When coupled with other rumors of various spinoffs plans, and even alleged tone concerns over Bond 26, longtime fans of how the 007 machine has been run so far have been iffy over what to make of these latest developments.
For a moment, EON Productions' control over the franchise co-founded by Albert 'Cubby' Broccoli seemed like it would remain resolute. Shortly before the announcement, Martin Campbell, the director of Casino Royale, shared his thoughts on how 'Barbara will absolutely stick to her guns.' Which makes this next quote from an alleged insider to Deadline kind of heartbreaking:
She's a fighter, but she got tired of fighting.
With all of these anonymous whispers filling the air, it appears one of my greatest fears may have came true. As Amazon-MGM and EON Productions were in a stalemate, someone had to make the move to end it. With co-producer/half-brother Michael G. Wilson ready to retire, the choices were forge ahead alone or make a deal. And whoo-boy, that deal lived up to Jeff Bezos' supposed demands.
How do you think Amazon-MGM Studios paid for creative control over Bond, James Bond? The answer, per that previously cited Deadline article, is $1 billion, and we don't even know how that's being paid out. This is on top of Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson remaining co-owners of the 007 cinematic franchise, which ensures financial security after walking away from creative control.
That price tag on its own might not seem too steep, especially in light of Disney's acquisitions of Lucasfilm, Marvel and 20th Century Fox. However, this quick and dirty primer on the formation of Amazon-MGM Studios, again from Deadline, paints a very different picture:
Though valued between $3.5 billion-$4 billion, the legendary motion picture studio was absorbed by the streamer for $8.5 billion, the hefty sum propped up by the potential access of the 007 franchise.
Going into the Amazon-MGM acquisition era, I didn't think that EON's control over James Bond would be challenged in such a way that it would eventually relinquish that power. But times have changed, and I guess sometimes you need to pick your battles carefully. For now, I'll maintain an open mind, as we don't know if these insider rumors are actually true.
Should they be proven to be accurate, Amazon's update on the Bond franchise might feel a bit more ominous in the long run. With Bond 26's fate becoming even more evasive, we're caught between a potentially rushed spinoff to whet the crowd's appetite, or a prolonged wait to 'get it right.'
We'll have to just wait see how the new players on the board move in this regard, martinis at the ready and tuxedos firmly pressed. Because at the moment, the question of concern isn't if James Bond will return, but rather how that resurrection will happen.

‘Mayor of Kingstown' Season 4 Premiere Date and Plot Details Revealed

Mayor of Kingstown is coming back for Season 4 … and sooner than you might think! The drama, which is part of the Taylor Sheridan universe on Paramount+, recently shot on location in Canada, and details about what's ahead for the gritty crime series are starting to come to light. Here's a look at everything we know about Mayor of Kingstown Season 4 so far. When will Mayor of Kingstown Season 4 premiere? Paramount+ has revealed that the series will return for its fourth season on October 26. Who will star in Mayor of Kingstown Season 4? In addition to Jeremy Renner's Kyle McLusky, the main characters who survived the events of the Season 3 finale are: Ian (Hugh Dillon), Kyle (Taylor Handley), Bunny (Tobi Bamtefa), Robert (Hamish Allan-Headley), and Evelyn (Necar Zadegan). Per Deadline, Clayton Cardenas will join the show in Season 4 as Deputy Warden Torres, the 'right-hand man' of the incoming deputy who'll take over leadership at Anchor Bay after Kareem's death. Other additions for Season 4 include Edie Falco, Lennie James, and Laura Benanti. Falco plays Anchor Bay's new prison warden, Nina Hobbs. James plays gangster Frank Moses, who's respected not just in the city of Detroit and the state of Michigan, but also beyond. And Benanti is playing a new correctional officer, Cindy Stephens. What will happen in Mayor of Kingstown Season 4? Creator Hugh Dillon confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the events of the Season 3 finale do mean that the Russian mafia storyline is coming to an end for the series, teasing that their eradication from Kingstown 'leaves a vacuum [that] will be filled.' The logline for the new season tells us, 'Mike's control over Kingstown is threatened as new players compete to fill the power vacuum left in the Russians' wake, compelling him to confront the resulting gang war and stop them from swallowing the town. Meanwhile, with those he loves in more danger than ever before, Mike must contend with a headstrong new Warden to protect his own while grappling with demons from his past.' How did Mayor of Kingstown Season 3 end? The Season 3 finale ended with a lot of major character losses. First, Kareem (Michael Beach) walked right into an ambush by the Aryans when trying to break up a scuffle in the yard with no backup — a fate he seemed to choose. Then, Evelyn told Mike that she is coming after Ian for using Charlie as a weapon against a whistleblower. She sees him as a sure means of getting to Robert, who she doesn't believe to be fit for the force (and she's right about that). Then, she decided to press charges against Kyle after he shot Robert to stop him from gunning down an innocent man who was hiding during the bridge melee. Despite how close Mike is to her, she doesn't buy into his brand of look-the-other-way-for-our-guys justice. Meanwhile, the bridge conflict saw the Crips ambush and eliminate the remaining Russians, with the help of the police department no less, so now Bunny will have rule of the roost as long as he sticks to Kingstown as his sole territory. But will he? Konstantin and Milo (Aidan Gillen) won't be a factor anymore. Milo forced Iris (Emma Laird) to shoot Konstantin if she wanted a new life, and Mike then took out Milo for his many transgressions, including taunting Mike about his mother's death. Sadly, Iris, too, is dead; although she made it onto the bus, she took too many pain pills and overdosed before arrival. How will so many calamities affect Mike's 'mayor'al status? After all, his brother's in jail for attempted murder, his best friend's under suspicion of murder, his romantic partner is the one prosecuting them both, his platonic girlfriend who he's fought so hard to protect is now dead, the warden is gone, the Aryans are still on a revenge tour, and Bunny's in charge of everything. Season 4 is going to be wild. Are there photos of Mayor Kingstown Season 4? Yes! A batch of 10 first-look photos were revealed in August, and you can check them all out right here. Carrie Bradshaw's Cat Tree Is Worth The Splurge

I got Crosby, a friendly Russian blue-tabby mix, as a kitten. As sweet as he is, almost a year later, he still hadn't grown out of some problematic behavior. The arms of my couch were in shreds and my partner and I hadn't gotten a good night's sleep in months. At night, Crosby loved to run around our room, jump on the bed and claw at the curtains. If we kicked him out, he'd meow and tear at the carpet until we let him in again. We tried all of Google's top suggestions: scratching pads, rosemary spray, calming treats — some were semi-successful, but nothing really worked. I knew Crosby needed a place of his own to sleep, but let's be honest, most cat condos are total eyesores. Although… there was one that kept coming across my Instagram: the Mau wooden cat climbing tree. It was the most beautiful cat tree I'd ever seen and it included a basket bed. It even made a cameo in the most recent season of 'And Just Like That,' when protagonist Carrie Bradshaw assembled it for her kitty, Shoe. (Who, according to the Los Angeles Times, was actually adopted by Sarah Jessica Parker in 2023.) One of the reasons why I decided to invest in a quality cat tree was learning why they're important for cats' well-being. In previous HuffPost reporting, cat behaviorist Stephanie Merlin explained that '[c]ats are both predator and prey, so having a high vantage point is a natural way to help them feel safe and secure.' The different levels and features — like the dangling fluffy ball and roped branch on the Mau tree — encourage play, counteracting boredom. PSA: If your cat is clawing your stuff, they're probably bored. Putting together the Mau cat tree was super simple and only took a few minutes. It just involved connecting the big pieces together using a screwdriver. Once it was assembled, came the big test: Would it be used or be ignored? Crosby noticed his new hangout right away. He sniffed around the base before jumping up to the second platform, eventually jumping up to the basket bed. And then… he went to sleep. Sometimes, Crosby sits on the lower padded level. But usually, you'll find him asleep in the wicker basket. Whenever he's not playing, this is where I find him. It's also (blessedly) where he sleeps at night. The nighttime transition didn't happen immediately; it took time. But now, Crosby knows he has a nice cozy place to sleep and he doesn't wake me up until he's hungry. (Well, most of the time.) Last month, the base of the cat tree became stripped at the screw entry point, causing the tree to collapse. It's nothing against the structure; it happened due to plain old wear and tear. I contacted Mau and they responded immediately, offering to send a new base for free. Amazing, right? Fortunately, Crosby only had to go a few days without his cat tree. Still on the fence about buying it? Check out these reviews from other Amazon shoppers: Get it from Amazon for $259 (available in three colors).
