Three men arrested over assault at Puchong apartments, including main suspect
KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 — Police have arrested three men, including the main suspect, in connection with the assault of a man who was beaten and slashed at the Puchong Intan Apartments in Taman Puchong, near Subang Jaya, last Thursday.
Subang Jaya deputy police chief Supt Mohd Fairus Jaafar said the suspects, aged between 30 and 40, were picked up by a D7 unit from the Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) along Jalan USJ 9 at around 3 pm yesterday.
'All three have prior criminal records and admitted to being involved in the incident. They are currently in custody and a remand application will be submitted at the Shah Alam Magistrate's Court tomorrow for further investigation,' he said in a statement yesterday.
The incident occurred around 2.15 am when a woman reported that her boyfriend had been attacked by her ex-husband and two accomplices.
Investigations revealed the 47-year-old victim, a local man, had been living with the ex-wife of one of the suspects.
He sustained injuries to his body and head after being beaten and slashed with a knife and an iron rod, and is reportedly stable after receiving treatment at Sultan Idris Shah Hospital in Serdang. — Bernama

'Initial reports confirmed that no victims were involved,' it said in a statement. The operation involved 16 personnel from the Bandar Perda and Sungai Bakap fire stations, including a hazmat team from the Sungai Bakap station. The department later said the hazmat squad reported that a neutral reading was recorded from the sewer fluid, and confirmed there were no other hazards. As the sewer line fell under Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd's jurisdiction, the firm will follow up on the matter.

PETALING JAYA : The two city councils in Penang have called for action over viral video clips alleging bribery and abuse of power by council staff in dealings with business operators. The Penang island city council called for an investigation into two viral videos alleging bribery for allowing foreign nationals to operate businesses, Bernama reported. The videos, circulated on TikTok, also allege that council enforcement officers applied double standards in their operations. Separately, the Seberang Perai city council said that it has launched an internal investigation into another viral video in which a man alleges that council officers abused their powers at his friend's business premises. The viral video, which runs for two minutes, includes claims of extortion, threats against customers, wrongful detention of foreigners, and even an incident in which a local man was allegedly slapped after being mistaken for a foreign national. The Penang island city council said two videos circulated on TikTok contained 'numerous false and biased claims which amount to slander and misrepresentation of the council'. It called for an investigation by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission. The council said city councillors Tan Soo Siang, R Harikrishnan, Muhammad Khairul Mohd Ali, and Abdul Razak Rahman had also lodged police reports against the person who posted the videos. The Seberang Perai council said an internal investigation has been launched and a meeting held with the business owner involved to gather detailed information about the incident. The council urged the business owner to lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission if there was genuine evidence of corruption involving council staff.

Mother, uncle detained after boy falls to death from 30th floor in Bukit Jalil
KUALA LUMPUR, June 6 — Police have detained the mother and uncle of a four-year-old boy who died after reportedly falling from the 30th floor of an apartment in Bukit Jalil here yesterday. Cheras police chief ACP Aidil Bolhassan said the Indonesian nationals, aged 25 and 27 respectively, have been remanded until today to assist in investigations under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001. The boy's father is Malaysian, he said. 'Based on the post-mortem, the child died due to multiple injuries sustained after the fall. The cause that led to the incident is still under investigation,' he said in a statement.
