UC Irvine police look for rape suspect after campus attack
Police at UC Irvine are looking for a rape suspect who attacked a person on the campus last week.
UC Irvne police received a report that someone was raped around 11 p.m. on May 16 at Camino del Sol student housing, said UCI Police Chief Liz Griffin in a crime alert.
The victim said they were walking when a man pushed them to the ground and raped them, Griffin wrote.
The suspect was described as a white male between 35 and 40 years old with dark hair, a medium build and wearing a dark t-shirt and a navy blue hat, according to Griffin. He was also driving a dark colored Acura.
The victim reported the attack the next day, acccording to police. Officers searched the area but didn't find the man or his vehicle.

Chase Call hits 2 of 5 UC Irvine home runs and Anteaters stay alive with win over Arizona State
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Chase Call hit two of UC Irvine's five home runs and the Anteaters defeated Arizona State 11-6 on Sunday to advance to the championship round of the Los Angeles Regional. Alonso Reyes, Jacob McCombs and James Castagnola also went deep for UC Irvine. The Anteaters (43-16) advanced to play UCLA later Sunday. A UCLA win would wrap up the home regional for the Bruins. A UC Irvine win would force a deciding game on Monday. Call and Reyes hit two-run home runs in a four-run fourth inning that gave the Anteaters a 6-1 lead. UC Irvine starter Ryder Brooks had a 7-2 lead heading to the bottom of the sixth but was pulled after allowing a two-run double by Brandon Compton. Ricky Ojeda replaced Brooks and gave up an RBI double by Beckett Zavorek to make it 7-5. Brooks was charged with five runs. The Anteaters responded in the top of the seventh, scoring four runs that included a two-run home run by Castagnola. Brooks (7-3) got the win. Bringing the power for a second straight game, the Anteaters connected for five home runs Sunday, eliminating Arizona State 11-6 in the Los Angeles Regional of the NCAA baseball tournament. Advertisement Needing to win four straight games to advance to the super regionals after losing to Arizona State on Friday, UC Irvine is halfway to its goal. Alonso Reyes — who had just one home run in 2025 entering Sunday's game — ripped a two-run home run off of Sun Devils starter Derek Schaefer in the fourth inning. Later in the inning, after Arizona State coach Willie Bloomquist went with Lucas Kelly out of the bullpen, Chase Call cleared the batter's eye in dead center field for a two-run home run to give the Anteaters a 6-1 lead. McCombs, an All-Big-West First Team honoree, leaned back in the batter's box after his home run, taking time to admire his go-ahead blast. No.1 Scheffler holds off Griffin to defend PGA Memorial title
World number one Scottie Scheffler of the United States defended his title at the PGA Tour's Memorial tournament (Michael Reaves) World number one Scottie Scheffler captured his 16th career PGA Tour victory on Sunday, joining Tiger Woods as the only players to defend titles at the Memorial tournament. The 28-year-old American took his third triumph in a month, firing a two-under par 70 to finish 72 holes on 10-under 278 at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio. Scheffler left his third shot at the par-five seventh within four feet of the hole and sank the birdie putt to reach nine-under.
