Thailand Open Boxing: Tamanna, Priya, Deepak All Through To Semis

Tamanna beat Liu Yu-Shan of Chinese Taipei to win by a unanimous decision in the women's 51kg category, while Deepak got the better of Korea's Kim Hyeon-tae in men's 75 kg event.
The Indian boxing contingent continued its strong showing at the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament on Wednesday as Tamanna, Priya and Deepak all moved into the semifinals of their respective events, assuring themselves of a medal.
Tamanna produced a dominant performance against Liu Yu-Shan of Chinese Taipei to win by a unanimous decision in the women's 51kg category, while Priya posted a 5-0 victory over South Korea's Park Ah-hyun in the 57Kg category.
In the men's draw, Deepak demonstrated his technical superiority over South Korea's Kim Hyeon-tae, to take a unanimous verdict in the men's 75 kg category.

India sent a strong 19-member contingent to the prestigious boxing tournament, organized by World Boxing-backed Asian Boxing, which saw participation from top boxing nations including China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, South Korea, and host Thailand.
Jugnoo and Anjali concluded their campaigns with losses in the quarterfinals of the 85Kg and 75Kg categories respectively.

KL Rahul makes special request to BCCI ahead of India's tour of England; here's what report says
After a successful Indian Premier League (IPL) with new franchise Delhi Capitals, KL Rahul made a special request to the BCCI to allow him to play the second India A game against England Lions in a bid to prepare himself for the upcoming Test series, starting next month. Rahul's decision comes in after the India batter wasn't able to prepare in Mumbai or Bengaluru due to adverse weather conditions. While India A play their unofficial Test against England Lions from May 30, the second unofficial Test gets underway at Northampton from June 6. According to a TOI report, Rahul has been granted permission to travel early to the United Kingdom as the BCCI gave the 31-year-old all the necessary go-aheads to get his preparation going and leave for England on June 2 instead of originally scheduled June 6 with rest of the team. This is not the first time Rahul has went overseas early to play warm-up games to get acclimatised with the conditions. Last year, Rahul went to Australia early to play for India A ahead of Border Gavaskar Trophy. It is to be noted that Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan were earlier reported to play for India A in the second game against England Lions. Will Gill being appointed as Indian Test captain, he will directly play in the first Test with no change in Sudharsan's travel plans. The India A games offers newcomers/less experienced players a massive chance to get acclimatised with the conditions overseas along with the emerging red-ball cricketers who would stake a claim for Test spots. The India A squad features players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Dhruv Jurel, and Karun Nair, who are also in the Test squad against England. Goa Challengers begins its quest for hat-trick of titles
When Harmeet Desai led the Dempo Goa Challengers to a terrific triumph in Chennai last September, the team scripted history by becoming the first team to win two titles, and that too back-to-back, in Ultimate Table Tennis. As the franchise-based table tennis league returns for its sixth edition, Challengers would be gunning to register a hat-trick of triumphs. Challengers would begin their quest by taking on Ahmedabad SG Pipers, who will hope to see Amdavadis turn up to support it despite the IPL frenzy in town for the next four days. Pipers had a topsy-turvy campaign to its campaign in the last edition. Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammed Siraj opened up about bowling to Rohit Sharma and the muted celebration that followed after he clean bowled the former Indian captain in his second match of the IPL 2025. Now donning the Gujarat Titans jersey after years of service at Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Siraj has quietly but strongly scripted one of the most inspiring comebacks of the season. Bowling to Rohit in the ninth match of the ongoing IPL, Siraj got hit for a boundary but came back sharply with a perfect inswinger to knock back the stumps. Speaking on JioHotstar's Gen Bold special, he said, "My first match didn't go well — it was a high-intensity game after a long break. But I learned from it and focused on my bowling. Against Rohit bhai, I tried swinging the ball twice, but it didn't work. Then I stuck to my plan and got the wicket. I have a lot of respect for him, which is why I didn't celebrate much." Siraj also reflected on the time he was left out of India's squad for the ICC Men's Champions Trophy. That moment, he said, pushed him to focus on himself and his skills. 'My plan was to stay in the present. The Champions Trophy selection was very important to me, but I told myself it's not over yet. ICC events mean a lot to any player — but I knew I had to focus on my skills and fitness. I had to enjoy my bowling again. Now, I feel confident and I'm enjoying it a lot.' There were more emotions for Siraj when he played against his former team RCB and met his former captain Virat Kohli on the field. 'I have played with RCB for seven years, so I know the team well. I was a bit emotional during that moment. But after that, you saw what happened.' Against RCB, Siraj bowled a fiery spell and finished with figures of 3 for 19 in four overs. He picked up key wickets in the powerplay and was later named Player of the Match. The highlight of the night was playing in front of his family in Hyderabad. Siraj said it was one of the most special moments of his career. "The most memorable moment was having my family in the stadium. Performing in front of them gives me a lot of confidence. My parents supported me so much and worked really hard — we've seen tough times. But when their son performs in front of thousands, they feel proud. I felt amazing knowing they were there — it's a different feeling, hard to describe, but I really enjoyed that moment. Even though I was technically a visiting player, it felt like bowling at home.
