Chelsea have no intention of selling Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund target Josh Acheampong
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca says that they have no intention of selling Josh Acheampong this summer.
The 19-year-old's impressive development has caught the eye of Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund, who could make a concrete offer to sign him.

But Maresca has made it clear they have no interest in selling one of their best academy talents.
Ahead of Chelsea's Club World Cup round-of-16 clash with Benfica, Maresca said (per The Athletic): 'The clubs that you mentioned like Josh, but we also like Josh.
'All clubs like good players. My idea, my plan with Josh is quite clear. I really like Josh and I think potentially he can be a top defender for this club.
'It's on him also to have the right timing to do things. We are full of young players here, full of talented players, even defenders, so I feel the best plan for Josh is to be with us, and I'm very happy if he's going to be with us.'

Acheampong is the latest talent to come out of Chelsea's academy.
After impressing with his displays for the youth teams, the youngster earned his first professional contract in January 2024 before making his first-team debut four months later.
He ended the 2024-25 campaign with 12 appearances across the Premier League, Conference League and EFL Cup.
The Blues view Acheampong as a prospect for the future, but he reportedly wants more first-team opportunities for his development.
The English footballer's situation has sparked interest from Newcastle and Dortmund, but Chelsea have no plans to sanction an exit this summer.

The West Londoners are in a strong negotiating position, with the player contracted at Stamford Bridge until 2029.
Maresca is an admirer of Acheampong, who impressed at right-back, centre-back and even left-back last season.
The Italian boss started the 19-year-old in Chelsea's 3-0 win over ES Tunis in their final group game at the Club World Cup.

(Ben Whitley/PA via AP) LONDON (AP) — Novak Djokovic offered some lighthearted advice to top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at Wimbledon on Saturday after gatecrashing the Belarusian's news conference. Djokovic and Sabalenka spent some time practicing together at the All England Club this week ahead of the start of the grass-court Grand Slam tournament. Djokovic, a seven-time Wimbledon champion, then playfully interrupted the end of Sabalenka's news conference on Saturday by telling her to hurry up so he could take over the podium. Advertisement Sabalenka then took on the role of interviewer as reporters had been asking her about their session on court. 'What did you think about hitting with me?" the three-time major winner asked Djokovic. "How do you see my level? Am I good?' Djokovic, who holds a total of 24 Grand Slams, was quick with a quip. 'I think you have the potential. You're like a really talented player,' he said, before offering a criticism of Sabalenka — who is known as one of the biggest hitters on the women's circuit. 'Can I be honest? You're lacking intensity on the court," Djokovic said, drawing laughter. 'You don't have enough intensity. It's too flat. You've got to lighten up a little bit and put some power into it.' Advertisement Djokovic has experience with this kind of hijinks. Back at the All England Club in 2011, it was the then-second ranked Serb at the podium when then-No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki crashed his news conference and peppered him with questions. Djokovic went on to win his first Wimbledon title, while Wozniacki lost in the fourth round. Djokovic opens his bid for an eighth Wimbledon title on Tuesday when he plays Alexandre Muller of France. Sabalenka plays Carson Branstine on Monday. ___ AP tennis:

Bruno Fernandes Told to Deliver Brutal Punishment to Alejandro Garnacho After Infamous Marcus Rashford Tribute

Bruno Fernandes Told to Deliver Brutal Punishment to Alejandro Garnacho After Infamous Marcus Rashford Tribute originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Manchester United winger, Alejandro Garnacho, was recently told by manager Ruben Amorim to find a new club. Some players would knuckle down, fight for their place, and prove their manager wrong. Others take a different tack, deciding to inflame the situation in spectacular fashion. Advertisement While on holiday in Ibiza, Garnacho posted a photo of himself on social media wearing Marcus Rashford's Aston Villa shirt. Rashford remains on Manchester United's books but was loaned to Villa for the latter part of last season. Rashford showed his support for Garnacho, commenting "My brother" along with a heart emoji, the petulant behavior has naturally enraged United fans, who clearly feel he has crossed a line. On TalkSPORT's breakfast show former Premier League striker Troy Deeney didn't hold back in his assessment of the situation and offered some blunt advice on how club captain Bruno Fernandes should handle it. "If it was me at Man Utd, if I was Fernandes, I'd wait 'til he came back and firstly I'd smash is Man Utd; Who do you think you are? You Dope", Deeney said. Advertisement It's highly likely that neither Rashford nor Garnacho will be at Old Trafford next season, but if they fail to force the transfers they crave by July then they - along with fellow rejects Antony and Sancho - will probably be forced to train alone while the rest of the squad jets off on their summer tour in America. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 23, 2025, where it first appeared.
