Business Wire11-06-2025
LONDON & DENVER & JOHANNESBURG--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AngloGold Ashanti plc ("AngloGold Ashanti" or the "Company") has been named for the first time as a preliminary addition to the Russell 1000® or Russell 2000®, the Russell 3000®, and the Russell Midcap ® Indexes, as part of the latest FTSE Russell 2025 U.S. Indexes reconstitution.
Final index membership will become effective after the U.S. market closes on Friday, 27 June 2025, with rebalanced index constituents reflected in trading beginning Monday, 30 June 2025.
'This is an important milestone for AngloGold Ashanti,' said Alberto Calderon, Chief Executive Officer of AngloGold Ashanti. ' Our inclusion in this important family of US equity market indexes will help further increase liquidity and unlock long-term value for our shareholders.'
Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for active investment strategies. According to data as of the end of June 2024, about $10.6 trillion in assets are benchmarked against the Russell U.S. Indexes, which belong to FTSE Russell, the global index provider. This year's rebalance is expected to drive more than $53 billion in passive flows, and marks one of the highest-volume trading days of the year.
AngloGold Ashanti's anticipated inclusion in these benchmark equity indexes on 27 June 2025 follows the move of the Company's primary listing to the NYSE in September 2023.

Short Report: Clear Secure bears cover as strong guidance lifts shares

Welcome to this week's installment of 'The Short Interest Report' – The Fly's weekly recap of short interest trends among some of the most widely followed high-short-float stocks. Using the data from our partner which utilizes the latest information from stock lenders to estimate short interest changes for thousands of publicly traded companies, this report will screen for some of biggest changes in short interest as a percentage of free float and days-to-cover ratios while also considering the short interest data on some of the more volatile and heavier-traded names of the week. Based on the availability of data from Ortex, the report tracks the trading period that covers prior Friday through Thursday of this week, excluding holidays. As a basis of comparison for stocks discussed below, the S&P 500 index was flat, the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.6%, the Russell 2000 index up 0.1%, the Russell 2000 Growth ETF (IWO) was up 0.3%, and the Russell 2000 Value ETF (IWN) was up 0.2% in the five-day trading session range through August 7. SHORT INTEREST GAINERS Ortex-reported short interest in Lucid Group (LCID) had troughed at a two-month low of about 29% heading into the company's August 5th earnings, though with investors disappointed Lucid's wider than expected loss, bears are again boosting their exposure. Shorts as a percentage of free float accelerated from 29.5% to 31.8% and days-to-cover on the higher-end EV automaker rose from 4.3 to 5.3, with little relative trading volume increases accompanying its quarterly results. Just three weeks ago, the stock experienced an intra-day spike of nearly 50% when the company announced an autonomous robotaxi partnership with Uber and Nuro, with the aim to deploy 20,000 or more Lucid vehicles equipped with the Nuro Driver over six years. Since then however, all of those gains have been erased. This week, Lucid shares fell 13% in the five-day period covered, and the stock is now down 29.5% year-to-date. Ortex-reported short interest in Enovix (ENVX) had fallen to a multi-year low around 19% in late July, though with the stock also reversing much of its recent rally following a modest beat and in-line Q3 outlook after its July 31st earnings, bears are also turning less leary. Shorts as a percentage of free float on the name rose from 19.2% to 22.1%, though days-to-cover is down from 8.4 to 7.8 given the increase in trading volume. Enovix shares were down 18% in the five-day period covered, though even after Friday's 2% slide, the stock is down just 1% year-to-date. Ortex-reported short interest in Frontier Group (ULCC) is flying higher as the stock price has resumed its descend following a wider than expected Q2 loss and disappointing guidance for Q3. Shorts as a percentage of free float on Frontier rose from 27.6% to 31.2%, matching the highs above 31% set in mid- and late-June, while days-to-cover on the budget airline jumped from 5.4 to 6.8 despite large trading volume the day of and the day after earnings on August 5th and 6th. The turbulent stock, meanwhile, was down 24% in the five-day period through Thursday, having fully erased its June 23 to July 29 trough to peak 53% rally and closing in on this year's low. SHORT INTEREST DECLINERS Ortex-reported short interest in Clear Secure (YOU) is caving after the company reported Q2 results that saw a beat on revenue and also better than expected outlook for sales in Q3. Shorts as a percentage of free float – already down from outsized high-30% levels seen in mid-June – had settled into mid-20% levels but fell further from 24.3% to 21.7% – a three-month low – this week on post-earnings short-covering. Days to cover also retreated from 5.4 to 5.1 as volumes ticked higher. The stock was up as much as 14% intraday following Clear Secure's results and gained 8.6% overall during the five-day period covered through Thursday. Year-to-date, shares are now up 20%. Ortex-reported short interest in Birkenstock (BIRK) is down sharply heading into the company's Q3 results this coming Thursday. Coming out of its earnings in Q2 in May, the stock jumped a solid 6%. Shorts as a percentage of free float had reached 2025 highs around 25% earlier in the week but collapsed to 16% just as shares slipped to three-week lows. Low trading volume this week lifted the days-to-cover on the name however from 3.4 to 4.2. Over the five-day period covered, Birkenstock shares traded down by 3.2% and have now shed 15% year-to-date.

When The Fed Cuts Rates, It's A Clear Sign

To us at MoneyFlows, when the Fed cuts rates, it's a clear sign. It's time to buy small-caps stocks. Solid Fundamental Data Driving Rising Indices The Fed hasn't cut rates yet and stocks of all sizes are rising. The S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, S&P MidCap 400, and Russell 2000 have all gained: There is a lot of solid fundamental data driving rising indices. There's also excitement around trade deals, solid inflation numbers, and the belief that AI will deliver meaningful efficiencies. MoneyFlows data shows risk-on behavior: There's another major force driving capital to small- and mid-cap names: the coming Fed interest rate cuts. Highly capitalized firms, which are often small, will benefit as bottom lines heal. And that's a good thing for shareholders. When the Fed cuts rates and the economy holds up well, stocks flourish. It happened during the Gulf War of 1991 and 1992, the middle 1990s, and the global currency crisis in 1998. MoneyFlows data indicates today is similar – a healthy economy with rate cuts ahead. And that's been great for stocks in the past: If we get any summertime pullback, have a buy list ready. Seasonal weakness in August and September could bring in volatility. When markets inevitably pull back, being ready to pounce on high quality names is key. One small-cap name that's received lots of Big Money attention is Talen Energy Corporation (TLN). It recently announced better-than-expected auction results for the upcoming year. So, power usage should increase, boosting earnings expectations. It's had multiple outlier inflows recently: TLN has three-year sales growth of 45.1% and three-year EPS growth of 77.1%. No wonder it's up 86% this year so far! It could go higher with rate cuts. Outlier Stocks Will Soar Markets rotate and leadership changes. That's the way of the world. With MoneyFlows, you can spot the winners seeing Big Money inflows. As interest rates fall, stocks will rise. Outlier stocks will soar, and if you follow the flows, you can see the high risers. If you are a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) or a serious investor, take your investing to the next level and follow our free weekly MoneyFlows insights. The Russell 2000 Small Caps ETF Did Not Hit A New High

The iShares Russell 2000 small caps ETF did not hit a new high. While stock market commentators gushed about the Nasdaq 100's new high and the S&P 500's almost new high, few noted the lack of one from the small caps. Why won't these punier equities go along with the program? Market capitalization is the price of the stock times the number of shares. Analysts use it to distinguish between the big stocks and the small stocks. Big stocks like Nvidia, Apple, Amazon and Tesla find their place in the S&P 500 or the Nasdaq 100 or sometimes both. The market cap for Nvidia is $4457 billion. For Amazon, it's $2374 billion. The market cap for Credo Technologies, the largest of the small caps, is $20.67 billion. For the fourth largest small cap, Hims & Hers Health, it's $11.74 billion. You can see how it drops off quickly as you move down the list. Russell 2000 ETF fails to hit a new high The names of stocks that make up the Russell 2000 are ones you probably haven't heard of. Well, let's put it this way: you MAY have heard of a few but they don't get mentioned much on the front page or in short market updates on the tube. The largest sector within the ETF is financials, mostly regional banks – non-Wall Street hometown variety. Here's the weekly price chart for the Russell 2000: The small caps ETF peaked in November 2024 at just above $240. This week's close of near $220 failed to make a new high. Note the decline as indicated by the dotted red line. The divergence between this type of performance and the type for the Nasdaq 100 is a problem for those who remain enthusiastic about stock markets. Since I mentioned the two largest of the small caps, just for the record, here's how they look. Credo Technologies: The semiconductor company specializes in data center technology. This year's earnings are up 129% and up over the past five years by 52%. It's been good to be a tech stock lately, whether large or small cap. The price earnings ratio is 432 (!). The stock trades at 30 times its book value. The debt to equity ratio is .02. Credo amounts to just .68% of the Russell 2000 ETF, so the largest position is not that much of the total. The stock has gone from near $30 in late March/early April to the present $120, a triple in less than a year. Note that the volume levels peaked in June and have dropped since then. Hims & Hers Health. It's a personal and household products company and amounts to .38% of the ETF. Earnings for this year are up 11%. They're up over the past five years by 28%. The price-earnings ratio is 65 and the stock goes for 20 times book value. The short float is a high 32% – showing a greater level of disbelief in this company than for most. Should those shorts ever be forced to cover that would provide fuel for a rally. Hims & Hers peaked in February at near $72.50 and now trades for $51.94. That's a 28% drop in value in a short time, a possible reason for the short float issue. The company's debt-to-equity ratio is 1.86.
