When Ozzy Osbourne was fired from Black Sabbath in 1979, he wasn't just out of a band but was suddenly in charge of building one from scratch. 'I was jet-lagged to the max, arguing with some idiot guitar player,' Osbourne later recalled. 'I just thought, 'What the hell am I doing here?''The rock legend, who died at age 76, shared the chaotic details of his post-Sabbath solo debut in a 1990 Guitar World interview that has resurfaced in recent tributes. Osbourne, newly solo and emotionally wrecked, began auditioning musicians for his new band. But the process became anything but ordinary.Osbourne screened more than 50 guitarists during the search. Many, he said, came in with bizarre gimmicks. One man played standing on his head. Another shredded guitar while eating a sword. Others insisted on changing keys or argued about basic instructions.'There were all these Eddie Van Halen clones on steroids,' Osbourne said. 'One guy even played like Eddie while eating a f***ing sword.'One auditioner even breakdanced while playing. 'Some of them looked like they should've been in a sideshow at the circus,' Osbourne joked. 'Besides being a great guitarist, you've got to look the part.'Just when he was ready to give up, he came across a soft-spoken, classically trained guitarist named Randy Rhoads . Osbourne wasn't convinced at first. 'He was so frail, tiny, and effeminate,' he said. 'I thought, 'Oh no, oh hell.''But when Rhoads plugged into a tiny amp and began playing, Osbourne, even in a drugged haze, was floored. 'Even in my semi-consciousness, he blew my mind,' he said. He hired Rhoads on the spot, though he had to be reminded the next day that it wasn't a dream. That decision proved monumental. Rhoads co-wrote and performed on Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman , two of the most influential metal albums of all time. Their partnership ended tragically when Rhoads died in a plane crash in 1982 at just 25.

Harold and Kumar actor Kal Penn says he learnt Hindi by watching Saath Nibhaana Saathiya: ‘It is super addictive with ridiculous plot lines'

While many of us thought Gopi Bahu (from Saath Nibhaana Saathiya) had a limited reach to maybe the housewives of Indian households, we were all introduced to the show's characters when they made it to the internet. It received a whole wide recognition when Yashraj Mukhate created an interesting mix and the whole India just asked: Rasode mein kaun tha! It seems that Hollywood actor Kal Penn was an early adopter to the show and it was his Hindi tutor. The actor-comedian recently appeared as a guest on Express Adda, a platform for candid conversations hosted by The Indian Express Group. During the conversation with Anant Goenka, Executive Director of The Indian Express Group, Kal Penn shared his love for Indian shows. While comparing Indian, Korean and American shows, Kal accepted he is more versed in American shows. He confessed if given a chance he would want to appear on TMKOC and the Netflix show Delhi Crime. He shared, 'I got to know Asit Modi a couple of years ago and I did a set visit to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and I was geeking out over this–it is like one of the most watched shows on the planet. It is not everybody's palate, and very different from Delhi Crime. But, you look at it what India is turning out and the spectrum of voices and content… I be like, 'this is so cool.' I want to be on both shows. I would love to do episodes of Delhi Crime.' He shared, 'This is hard because Hindi is not my first language. It is English and then Gujarati. But one of the ways that I started trying to learn Hindi was through episodes of Saath Nibhana Saathiya.' He explained, 'Because the level of Hindi is accessible to somebody who is learning Hindi. They have super addictive ridiculous plot lines. So I will go with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.' Kal Penn, born as Kalpen Suresh Modi, is an American actor with Indian origin. He is known for his roles in Harold & Kumar, House, and brief appearance on the popular show How I Met Your Mother, among others. He is also an author and former White House staff member in the Barack Obama administration. Meanwhile, Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, is one of the longest running shows in India with 2181 episodes. BTS' J-Hope draws 178K audience on HOPE ON THE STAGE solo tour, powers HYBE's 85 percent North American revenue surge

HYBE reported a significant 85.7% increase in revenue in North America for the first quarter of 2025, reaching 133.25 billion KRW (approx. USD 102 million). The sharp growth was largely driven by BTS member j-hope's successful solo tour, Hope on the Stage, alongside performances by other HYBE America artists. According to a July 28 report by MTN News, this marks one of the biggest quarterly boosts for the company in recent years. Meritz Securities attributed much of the revenue jump to j-hope's tour and the growing presence of HYBE's American roster. The rapper's tour drew massive crowds in the U.S. and Mexico, highlighting his individual star power post-military service. 12 sold-out shows in the U.S. and Mexico Hope on the Stage kicked off in April 2025 and included 12 shows across major cities such as Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Oakland, and Mexico City. Around 178,000 fans attended the concerts. j-hope performed songs from his albums Jack in the Box and Hope on the Street Vol.1, with each show drawing consistent demand. MTN News highlighted the steady ticket sales across cities as a sign of BTS' ongoing fan loyalty and j-hope's solo appeal. HYBE also gained revenue through merchandise and fan spending. Analysts estimate that fans at U.S. concerts spent an average of USD 60 on merchandise, with about 22% of attendees making purchases. Here's how the tour wrapped up with a special BTS moment The tour officially ended on June 14 at Goyang Stadium in South Korea. The first night of the finale coincided with BTS' 12th anniversary and turned into an unexpected OT7 reunion. All seven BTS members attended to cheer j-hope on. Jin and Jungkook even joined him onstage to perform Jamais Vu, and later shared their own solo stages, an emotional moment fans later called the 'unofficial BTS 2025 Festa.' Despite earlier concerns about K-pop's slowdown, 2025 data shows a rebound. Acts like Stray Kids, ENHYPEN, ATEEZ, SEVENTEEN, and LE SSERAFIM ranked in the U.S. Top 10 CD Albums list for the first half of 2025, according to Luminate. Stray Kids' HOP sold 149,000 copies in the U.S., placing second overall.
