Aamir Khan didn't speak to Juhi Chawla for 7 years, until one unexpected call changed everything
In a career spanning decades, Aamir Khan has carved a niche for being not just a perfectionist but also brutally honest—whether it's about his professional choices, personal life, or flaws. Recently, in a candid conversation on entrepreneur Raj Shamani's podcast, the actor peeled back the curtain on one of Bollywood's most unexpected cold wars: his seven-year silence with long-time co-star and close friend Juhi Chawla. The two, who rose to stardom together in the cult classic Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak , had a falling out while filming Ishq in 1997. Aamir admits the reason was minor, but his reaction was anything but. 'Juhi aur mera jhagra hua, 7 saal chala,' he confessed. 'I stopped talking to her—even though we were working together. That too, over a small issue.' Juhi Tried, Aamir Refused While Juhi Chawla reportedly made several attempts to reconcile, Aamir remained immovable. His then-wife, Reena Dutta, even urged him to let go and move forward, but Aamir remained emotionally locked. 'Juhi tried a lot. Reena would tell me—'Kaise kar rahe ho tum? Meet her, end this.' But I wouldn't budge,' Aamir admitted. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Villas in Dubai | Search Ads Get Info Undo The silence lingered, awkward and unexplained, even as the two shared the same sets and industry circles. It wasn't just a personal rift; it was a professional one too, clouding one of Bollywood's most celebrated on-screen pairings. — Team_JuhiChawla (@Team_JuhiChawla) The Call That Melted the Ice It wasn't until 2002, when Aamir and Reena Dutta announced their separation, that the tide turned. Despite years of silence, Juhi Chawla reached out to Aamir—knowing he might not even answer her call. But she dialed anyway. That touched me,' Aamir recalled in the documentary Rubaru Roshni . 'I realised that while we weren't speaking, the care never went away. That's what real friendship is.' The gesture struck a chord. It was the emotional thaw that finally ended a cold war rooted in ego and miscommunication. Aamir, in his words, realised the value of enduring friendships over petty grudges. Now preparing for his next big release Sitare Zameen Par opposite Genelia D'Souza, which hits cinemas on June 20, 2025, Aamir seems to be reflecting more than ever on the emotional script of his own life.

When the King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, played Santa for Aamir Khan and gifted him an expensive laptop
Aamir Khan is gearing up for his big-screen comeback with his ambitious project Sitaare Zameen Par . This marks his return after Laal Singh Chaddha , which turned out to be the biggest flop of his career. While fans may remember the long-standing rivalry between Aamir and Shah Rukh Khan in the 90s, the actor recently shared a heartwarming anecdote that revealed a softer side to their relationship. In a conversation with Raj Shamani, Aamir opened up about his so-called love-hate friendship with SRK. He recalled the year 1996, when the two superstars performed together at a show. Describing himself as 'technologically challenged,' Aamir revealed that Shah Rukh, after noticing this, gifted him an expensive Toshiba laptop. Despite the generous gesture, Aamir admitted he didn't use it for a long time, reported Times Now. Aamir Khan said, 'Our generation of actors share a lot of warmth and respect for each other. When Shah Rukh Khan and I were on the show in 1996, Shah Rukh Khan gifted me a laptop. I am a digitally handicapped person. I have an analogue person. He had told me that he was purchasing the latest laptop. I told them that I don't have a laptop.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thanh Pho Ho Chi Minh: Unsold Furniture Liquidation 2024 (Prices May Surprise You) Unsold Furniture | Search Ads Learn More Undo Aamir Khan further stated that he damaged the laptop by not losing it for four years. After 4 years, my manager asked me if he could use my laptop, as it had not been used for a long time. I had completely forgotten that I had a laptop. When he showed it to me, I realised it was gifted by SRK. I told him to use it. That laptop didn't even turn on.' Sonali Bendre Says She Didn't Get Her Due In SRK's Duplicate: 'I Was Supposed To Have An Equal…'
Sonali Bendre recalls her role in Duplicate with Shah Rukh Khan, saying it lost its edge over time. Sonali Bendre has been a familiar face in Hindi cinema for decades, winning hearts with her performances across a variety of genres. But not every film journey has been fulfilling. While revisiting her 1998 movie Duplicate, where she starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan, the actress shared that the experience left her feeling creatively shortchanged. In a candid chat with Bollywood Bubble, Sonali reacted to an old picture from Duplicate and admitted the film is still remembered fondly, especially the songs. However, she felt the character she played didn't evolve as promised. 'This was—I mean, you know—because it's Shah Rukh, and because that song was so popular. It was a film that a lot of people talk about. But this is one of those films that really helped shape the way I wanted my character to be. The idea was to have beautiful grey shades in this character, but it kind of started becoming… my character started becoming very one-dimensional, you know? I think it became more of a secondary character when I got onto it," she said. Looking back at her choices, Sonali compared her experience in Duplicate to her part in Zakhm. While she knew Zakhm featured Pooja Bhatt in the lead, she took on her role with full awareness because of her admiration for director Mahesh Bhatt and the strength of the story. She added, 'See, when I did Zakhm, I knew it wasn't the main character—I knew Pooja had that role. But it was a beautiful story with Bhatt Sahab, and I just wanted to be a part of it, so I did it. But when Duplicate was concerned, I was supposed to have had an equal amount, you know? And at that point, it started to feel like it wasn't the same kind of role anymore. So at that time, I did start to feel like I wasn't getting my due. But I think eventually, it all evened out, and you know—I did get my due." About Duplicate First Published: June 01, 2025, 09:12 IST
