NA approves extension of CSS age limit, exam attempts from 2026
The National Assembly on Friday passed a resolution to increase the maximum age limit for candidates appearing in the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination from 30 to 35 years, with the new policy set to take effect from 2026, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
The move, introduced by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML‑N) MNA Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, was brought before the House after a successful motion to suspend procedural rules. The resolution was passed without opposition, reflecting broad parliamentary support.
Alongside the age limit increase, the resolution also allows candidates a total of five attempts at the CSS exam. Lawmakers urged the government to implement these changes without delay to give prospective applicants sufficient time to prepare under the revised criteria.
The CSS exam serves as a key gateway to Pakistan's elite federal services, including positions in administration, foreign affairs, customs, and other civil sectors. It has traditionally attracted fresh university graduates and young professionals, with strict eligibility criteria in terms of age and number of attempts.
By raising the age cap and allowing an additional attempt, the new measures aim to broaden access and provide greater flexibility for aspirants who may need more time to prepare or who enter the workforce later.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's F-Class long-range shooting ace, Mohsin Nawaz, has been conferred the prestigious Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the sport and a series of remarkable international achievements. These victories brought his international medal tally to 10—making him the first Pakistani civilian to medal in these European categories. Nawaz's breakthrough came in 2023 when he won silver at the European Long Range Shooting Championship, equaling the European record at 800 yards. Earlier, he dominated the 2022 Western Bisley Long Range Championship with three gold and two silver medals, and earned podium finishes at major events in the USA, South Africa, and Europe since 2016. In a testament to his stature, Nawaz holds lifetime memberships with both the National Rifle Association (NRA) UK and USA and is Pakistan's first holder of NRA USA mid and long-range classifications. Asif meets Nawaz
LAHORE: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif met Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif here Friday and discussed matters of mutual interest and overall country's political situation. Nawaz Sharif said on the occasion that Khawaja Asif was his best friend and companion in difficult times and they have both gone through thick and thin together, sources said. Khawaja Asif said that whenever the country has faced difficulties, Nawaz Sharif's political insight has supported it. CCD raids PML-N MPA's farmhouse
The Rawalpindi Crime Control Department (CCD) raided the farmhouse of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Naeem Ijaz, taking three individuals into custody. Officials said the operation aimed to arrest a highly wanted suspect and that the MPA had been asked to hand over the individuals sought. Following the raid, Naeem Ijaz called the police emergency helpline 15 to report CCD officials, including the in-charge and the SHO. He claimed that 30 uniformed and 15 plainclothes personnel entered his property, assaulted an employee named Hamza, and took away three staff members, including Shafqat, Qadir, and Mati, along with cash. CCD sources stated that the suspect was wanted in a private citizen's case involving abduction and an objectionable video. They added that the MPA had been informed beforehand and asked to present his property's manager — himself a record-holder under the Anti-Terrorism Act — along with the wanted men, but he refused. When contacted, Naeem Ijaz initially expressed ignorance about the incident, later issuing a statement through his spokesperson along with CCTV footage from the raid. The spokesperson denounced the operation as "illegal and immoral," accusing CCD of staging a drama for cheap publicity. The matter escalated when Naeem Ijaz, accompanied by other MPAs, took the complaint to Rawalpindi RPO Babar Sarfraz Alpa. A copy of a written complaint also surfaced, alleging that police broke open a locker and stole Rs50 million in cash, terming it "robbery under the guise of an operation."
