Google Photos redesigns Editor with AI features for 10th Birthday

is rolling out a major editor overhaul that brings Pixel 9-exclusive AI features to Android devices worldwide, marking the
photo storage app
's 10th anniversary.
The redesigned editor consolidates Google's AI editing tools into a single interface, featuring the previously Pixel-exclusive Auto Frame and Reimagine functions. Auto Frame uses generative AI to suggest different compositions and fill blank spaces when cropping or widening images, while Reimagine allows users to add elements to photos through text descriptions.
The update introduces AI Enhance, which automatically combines multiple effects like
image sharpening
and object removal to produce three editing variations. Users can also tap specific areas of images to receive targeted editing suggestions, with contextual tools appearing for selected objects or backgrounds.
The interface redesign replaces the previous double-tiered menu system with three thumbnail options: Enhance, Dynamic, and the new AI Enhance feature. Controls for aspect ratio, flip, and rotate functions have been relocated above images for easier access.

The redesigned editor will begin rolling out globally to Android devices next month, with iOS support following later this year. The QR code sharing feature is already deploying to users worldwide.

Instagram users can now share full 3:4 aspect ratio photos and that means no cropping
If you use Instagram and are even remotely interested in photography, you would know about the common inconvenience that came with the platform: having to crop most of your mobile camera images to post them. But now, if you capture 3:4 images, Instagram finally allows you to post them as is, without cropping. This major announcement comes from the platform's head himself, Adam Mosseri. He posted on Threads that Instagram now supports 3:4 aspect ratio photos, which is the format almost every phone camera defaults to. So, from now on, if you upload a 3:4 image, it will reflect as is, without having the need to crop it. This meant having to post taller images by adding borders, which, of course, ruined the experience for many people and required multiple steps. WhatsApp to add collage, music stickers, and interactive features to status updates
WhatsApp is set to expand its Status feature with new creative tools which aim to enhance user interaction. The Status function, which operates like Stories on other social platforms, allows users to share text, photos, or videos that disappear after 24 hours. These updates will soon include more options such as collages, music stickers, and interactive elements within the app. Since March, WhatsApp users have been able to add music clips to their status updates by selecting from the app's music library. These clips last up to 15 seconds with photos and up to 60 seconds with videos. The latest update will enable users to convert these music clips into stickers, which will include a new way to integrate sound into their posts. Users will also have the option to share a song as a separate status update.
