Disneyland announces closing date for beloved attraction during 70th anniversary celebration
The closure is set to begin on Monday, August 11.
But, thankfully for fans, the popular ride is expected to return just 11 days later, reopening on August 22 in its seasonal form as Haunted Mansion Holiday.
This special version features a makeover inspired by Tim Burton 's The Nightmare Before Christmas.
While Disneyland has not officially stated the reason for the August closure, the timeline matches up with past years when the ride transforms into a holiday-theme.
Haunted Mansion Holiday typically remains open through both Halloween and Christmas, and is scheduled to run until January 7, 2026.
In 2024, the holiday version of the attraction opened earlier than usual in July.
That early debut followed a lengthy closure that allowed Disneyland to complete several major updates to the ride.
Enhancements included a more accessible elevator for guests with disabilities, revamped landscaping around the attraction, and the debut of Madame Leota's Somewhere Beyond gift shop.
When the original Haunted Mansion returned in early 2025, guests were introduced to a newly updated version of the Bride, one of the ride's key characters.
Though Haunted Mansion Holiday features the same general decorations each year, one element that changes annually is the gingerbread house in the ballroom scene.
This centerpiece is custom-built and remains a fan favorite.
The temporary closure of such a beloved ride is not unusual, especially during seasonal transitions, but still typically upsets fans regardless, as some plan their visit specifically for the Haunted Mansion.
That being said, fans of the original Haunted Mansion have just over a month left to experience the classic version before the holiday takeover begins.
For those who prefer the spooky charm of the holiday edition, the August 22 reopening will mark the return of Jack Skellington, Zero, and other familiar faces from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
The Haunted Mansion remains one of Disneyland's most iconic attractions, and both versions continue to draw long lines and loyal fans year-round.
Guests planning a visit in August should keep the closure dates in mind, as the ride will be unavailable for nearly two weeks.
Despite the temporary closure, Disneyland's 70th anniversary celebration will include plenty of other attractions, entertainment, and limited-time experiences across the park.
According to Disneyland blogs, this includes a new theme song by the Jonas Brothers and a new 'World of Color' show.
As with all seasonal changes, dates are subject to change, and guests are encouraged to check the Disneyland website for the latest updates.
Whether you're a fan of the traditional Haunted Mansion or the festive Haunted Mansion Holiday, 2025 offers the chance to enjoy both versions during a milestone year for the park.

How the Mercury and Venus transits will influence your relationships, according to an astrologer - and which signs will be most affected
Whether you're on the lookout for a new partner or simply keen to understand how an important relationship will develop, the 'transits' of Mercury and Venus can tell us a lot about our love lives. A transit is when a planet passes between the Earth and the sun and, according to astrologer Polina Arutiunian, there are three periods between now and the end of 2025 that will see these two planets make this journey. With the first having happened at the end of June, the second occurring in early October and the third taking place at the beginning of November, each one will be significant in a different way. The transits of Mercury and Venus are particularly important when it comes to romantic relationships thanks to the meanings of these two planets. Mercury, Polina explains, 'symbolises the core communication', which, in the context of relationships, refers to the 'intellectual connection we feel with others.' The Nebula astrologer adds: 'It's about that 'talking stage,' the meetings where we verbally express ourselves and measure each other up. 'Needless to say, when Mercury moves from its position, it might affect the dynamic we have with each other.' And, when it comes to Venus, which is the planet of romance, its transits indicate the direction that a relationship is moving in. Polina says: 'This planet is a symbol of the close bonds and loving relationships we form with others, a symbol of the lifelong partnership we form with our significant other.' She explained what effect the movements of these planets during the second half of the year will have on relationships - and identified the star signs that will be most impacted. JUNE 30 - AUGUST 24 Mercury Retrograde in Leo: The Start of Shadow Period 'This summer, we have a really interesting sequence of astrological events,' Polina notes. 'First of all, Mercury is entering its shadow retrograde period in Leo from June 30 to August 24. 'We all may feel it as slowing down a bit on an emotional level. You might feel like you need to take a break from drama, or to think through what is going on with your feelings.' She adds that it's the ideal time to 'revisit old situations' that might still be lingering in a relationship and advises partners to look for 'new insights' rather than going over old ground. 'If you had any fun plans with your partner that you never went through, do them now! Try a new hobby together, go to that concert or event you've wanted to visit.' Venus-Uranus Transition into Gemini 'Another thing to look forward to is a Venus-Uranus conjunction, starting on June 30,' Polina adds. 'Your dynamic with another person might shift. You might go from surface-level attraction to deep intellectual connection. 'Or maybe you'll see someone in a different light — who ordered 'from friends to lovers' this summer? Maybe it's one for you, coming right up! 'Of course, it might turn out the opposite way. Maybe a romantic spark will fade, and instead a friendship will blossom. Whatever the case might be, the signs that will be affected the most here are: Taurus, Libra and Aquarius.' Yet, there is no need to be worried by this transit, given it's temporary, Polina adds. 'On July 31, Venus enters Cancer and comes closer to Jupiter. This means the emotional spark in your relationship may return with even more intensity, under the influence of Jupiter.' OCTOBER 4 Venus Conjunct South Node: Mercury in Libra Astrologer Polina notes that the second important transit of both Venus and Mercury will take place on October 4. 'We are going to pass the eclipse season by that time, and right after that, we might feel a bit nostalgic in our romantic life.' 'Around this date, you might run into someone from the past. They might suddenly contact you, or something will remind you about past relationships or partners. 'You can also feel like this period is somehow connected to spring events of 2025, so don't be surprised if you feel some deja vu. The most affected signs on this particular transit will be: Virgo, Pisces, Taurus and Libra, according to Polina. 'With Mercury in Libra, you may have more conversations about relationships during this period, with the focus mostly on your partners.' Yet, Polina reminds us not to turn it into an argument. Rather, try to maintain a 'more diplomatic Libra energy.' NOVEMBER 10-30 Mercury Retrograde in Sagittarius: Emotions are High The third significant period of 2025 runs from November 10 to November 30. Polina warns that, emotionally, it may be a particularly intense period since this Mercury retrograde is taking place between the signs Sagittarius and Scorpio. 'You might expect the exes to return to your life,' she says. 'Or maybe it will be you who will feel the temptation to send that text or make that call? 'As Mercury will be going back to Scorpio, the chance is pretty that an old conflict or repressed negativity may resurface. 'Despite that, this is the right time to work on that negativity together. Try to have an honest conversation and resolve what's been bothering both of you.' Venus in Scorpio: More Kindle for the Fire Venus in Scorpio may up the ante in what is already an intense period, according to Polina. 'It's highlighting the importance of taking emotional weight off our shoulders from time to time. She says it's a particularly timely reminder for those born under Scorpio, Virgo and Taurus - the signs that will be most affected.t: 'If you share one of those zodiacs, you might feel the most impact during this time,' Polina explains. She adds: 'Don't forget to think rationally about what's best for you. 'Nevertheless, if you keep your wits about you, things will turn out rather positively.

EXCLUSIVE Why celebrity transparency about plastic surgery might not be all it seems: Stars like the Kardashians and Megan Fox are seemingly 'revealing all' about the work they've had done - but what they decide to share is 'highly curated', says expert
Hollywood stars appear to be embracing a new era of openness when it comes to cosmetic surgery - but it might not be all it seems. Last month, Kylie Jenner - the youngest of the tweakment-heavy Kardashian-Jenner clan was highly praised for sharing details of her breast enhancement surgery on TikTok. Since, her older sister Khloe Kardashian has followed suit - revealing she's had a rhinoplasty, Botox and fillers. And they're not the only stars finally opening up after years of dismissing rumours they'd had plastic surgery. Several high-profile celebrities have confessed to the 'tweakments' they've had done - and even more surprisingly, some A-listers are seemingly suggesting they're revealing 'all' the plastic surgery they've undergone. But eyebrows have been raised if these Hollywood stars are really being as transparent as it seems, with one aesthetic practitioner telling Femail the information is 'highly curated'. Last year, Megan Fox, who has baffled fans with her everchanging appearance, revealed she had a series of procedures. The Transformers star revealed she had spent $30,000 on the 'biggest boobs that could fit in my body'. She also admitted a nose job in her early 20s - but denies claims she's had the procedure done seven or eight times. Megan went on to dismiss rumours about other procedures she'd endured - insisting she would never have fat taken out of her body because she's so lean - while candidly discussing the work she wants to have done in the future. Ironically, despite admitting she loves the results of surgery and wants people to regard her as a 'circus freak', she confessed she's shunned many common procedures because she's terrified of anaesthetic. Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast she revealed the work she'd had had done on her face - getting filler and Botox but not a facelift or threads - a nonsurgical procedure designed to lift sagging skin and stimulate collagen production. She explained: I've never had a facelift of any kind, no lateral brow lift although I would like one! 'No regular brow lift, I've never done threads. That's not because of some moral thing, I just don't really believe they work and I'm also afraid that they would interfere when I do need to have a facelift. 'I am very tempted to go have my eyebrows snatched like all the way [back]. I want that look. That seems fun and you can do it on a lunch break and I see why it's so tempting,' She went on to dismiss rumours she'd had buccal fat removal, (cheek slimming) explaining: 'I've never had that done I'll never have any fat removed. 'I'm a very like lean person that doesn't have enough body fat or fat in my face so I will only ever put fat in. ' I will never be taking fat out, which leads me to I've never had any liposuction or body contouring or anything like that.' In May, Kris Jenner, 69, caused shockwaves when her representative candidly confirmed that Dr. Steven Levine, a New York City plastic surgeon, was responsible for the 'recent work' on her face, which set social media ablaze when first revealed. Weeks later, her youngest daughter Kylie Jenner, 27, went one step further by confirming the exact specification of her breast implants in response to a fan on social media, and even shared who her doctor was, Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Garth Fisher. Her sister Khloé Kardashian then followed suit, responding to a London-based aesthetician's Instagram clip about her with a detailed breakdown of what she has had done - complete with doctors and service providers. However, a leading UK aesthetic practitioner has warned that it's 'important to recognise that this new transparency is often highly curated'. Dr Jessica Halliley, founder of Your Beauty Doctor Clinic, told FEMAIL: 'There's definitely a cultural shift happening where celebrities are now being more open about cosmetic procedures. 'But it's important to recognise that this new transparency is often highly curated. While someone like Khloe Kardashian might discuss a nose job or facial tweakments, there's usually silence around more invasive body procedures like liposuction or BBLs.' Earlier this month, Khloe left fans disgruntled when she failed to include a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) on her list of treatments, and while it's not confirmed that she's had the procedure, onlookers considered it a glaring omission. ''Transparent'?… notice she didn't say BBL,' one user wrote on X after Khloe shared her list of treatments, while another added, 'The most obvious BBL of them all maybe.' Khloe took an expert's assessment in stride and even responded the next day with a detailed breakdown of what she has had done — complete with doctors and service providers 'She did not mention the addition or removal of her BBL, but she definitely had one,' another noted. Fresh off her appearance at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's star-studded wedding in Italy, Khloe earned a glowing shout-out from London-based aesthetician Dr. Jonny Betteridge, who called her the 'standout face' of the event. Betteridge noted that the Kardashians star's look has 'changed a lot over the past few years' and speculated that her transformation likely involved a 'temporal brow lift,' rhinoplasty, lip filler, and a face and neck lift. Khloe responded the next day with a detailed breakdown of what she has had done - complete with doctors and service providers - as some fans praised her honesty. She decided to set the record straight in the comments section of the expert's video. Khloe kicked off the note with: 'I take this as a great compliment! First off I think these photos are about 15 years apart, but here's a list of things that I have done. I've been very open in the past about what I have done so here we go.' Khloe listed each procedure, as well as which doctor or what place she had them done at. 'Nose job @drkanodia90210,' referring to Dr. Raj Kanodia, also known as Doc Hollywood according to his Instagram page. 'Laser hair for the hairline and everywhere else @sevlaseraesthetics, Botox and sculptra where my face tumor was removed in my cheek @7qspa, soft wave laser for skin tightening @softwavetherapy.' she continued. 'Filler in the past but not any over the last few years (I hear it never goes away, so I'm sure it's still there but calmed down, lost 80 pounds over the years (slow and steady) @ Khloe noted. 'Collagen baby Threads underneath my chin and neck @ salmon sperm facials/regular facials, peptides, vitamins and daily skin care,' she said. 'In 2025 there are many other things we can do before surgery but when it's timed, and if I choose to, I know some great doctors,' she added. She wrote another comment in reply to her surgery and procedure reveal: 'Those photos are actually OVER 15 years ago... man time does fly.' contacted representatives for Kardashian about Betteridge's claims but did not immediately hear back at the time. Meanwhile, Dr Halliley explained: 'We've seen huge speculation about various public figures with trends like buccal fat removal, but generally celebrities avoid directly confirming or denying these changes. 'The reality is that even in this recent era of openness, many still reveal only what feels socially acceptable or brand-aligned, often to control the narrative or distract from other enhancements – or even past mishaps.' Before Khloe shared her list, her younger sister Kylie divulged the details of her breast augmentation in a candid response to a user on TikTok who was desperate to 'know how to get them to sit like that.' '445 cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle!!!!! silicone!!! garth fisher!!! hope this helps lol,' Kylie commented, describing her exact boob job 'order' and throwing in the name of her surgeon for good measure. The Kardashian matriarch then hopped on the trend and revealed that Kylie's surgeon also gave her a facelift in 2011, though not revealing any other treatments. Kris, 69, dropped the fun fact after Dr. Garth Fisher thanked Kylie, 27, for publicly crediting him with her 2019 surgery. Calling him a 'close and treasured friend', Kris praised Garth for performing her first facelift over a decade ago and thanked him for allowing cameras in the operating room. 'Garth you are such a superstar class act!! You did my first facelift in 2011… 14 years ago!!!' Kris said in the comments section of his Instagram post. '[You] made it the most amazing experience ever and even gave us access to film so that others could get a peek inside what it's like and not be afraid… you have taken great care of us always and remain such a close and treasured friend!! Such an incredible talent!!' Then, Kristin Cavallari followed in the Kardashian-Jenner footsteps by letting her fans in on the details of her latest breast augmentation. The 38-year-old set the internet ablaze by revealing her plastic surgery, sharing on her podcast last month that she had decided to 'redo my boobs.' The Hills alumna offered further information about her procedure in response to a fan question during an Insta Stories Q&A. An admirer asked Kristin what size implants she got, gushing over the reality star: 'I always tell my friends you are my boob-spiration.' 'Thank you!' replied Kristin, before explaining that she was 30C before and now she's 34D. 'Everyone thinks I went a lot bigger, but I've just pushed them up a couple times since getting them done,' she said. Soon after, Shark Tank star Barbara Corcoran followed suit and revealed every plastic surgery she's ever undergone. The 76-year-old businesswoman said she was inspired to break down her procedures because 'the cool kids were sharing their plastic surgery secrets'. Barbara told her followers that she's had an eye lift, brow lift, neck lift, and three facelifts. She's also received a lower eyelid skin pinch, which removes a small amount of skin below the eyelashes to help smooth skin. In addition, the TV personality revealed that she gets filler in her face four times a year, as well as ear filler four times a year. It's not quite the same extent as 44-year-old Katie Price's list. The former glamour model also hopped on the trend and claimed to reveal all her surgeries. Talking on a Snapchat video, she said via the Mirror: 'So the work I've had done on my face is, god where do I b***** start, nose…' she began, pointing to various areas on her face as she continued. Indicating her temple and cheekbones, she said, 'I've had here lifted, here lifted…' She gestured to her upper lip, and continued: 'I've had under here done but I wouldn't recommend anyone do that...' She finished the rundown by adding: 'I've had lip filler, my teeth done, I'm trying to think if I've had anything else. That's it.' Over the years, Katie has had at least 16 boob jobs, three rhinoplasties and two facelifts. Dr Jessica Halliley concluded that she's supportive of celebrities opening up about their plastic surgeries, but she finds the selective nature of the admissions problematic. She said: 'As a medical aesthetic practitioner, I always advocate for honesty and ethical practice with my patients. 'It's completely valid for both celebrities and everyday people to make personal choices around treatments, but this selective transparency among influential celebrities – especially those who base their brand primarily on their appearance or lifestyle - can skew public perception and reinforce unrealistic beauty standards.' She insisted: 'We need to make space for balanced conversations – where aesthetic treatments are no longer taboo, but also not misrepresented.' However, Dr Apul Parikh of Allergan Aesthetics said that celebrities' growing honesty on plastic surgery is a step in the right direction and is helping to reduce stigma on the topic. He said: 'As a surgeon and a practitioner in the field of aesthetics, I welcome this growing transparency amongst public figures who are beginning to open up and discuss their cosmetic journeys. 'I do think, however, it is important to keep in mind that any medical work or aesthetic work is deeply personal. 'I think celebrities have a hard time in these modern days where they are placed under such scrutiny that they feel they need to divulge what is very confidential information. 'I think people at large need to be aware of this and grant these celebrities some leeway and ensure that their confidentiality is maintained. And we respect that. 'As I mentioned, celebrities are under immense scrutiny, and there is still a lot of stigma surrounding cosmetic treatments and surgery. 'I really appreciate this growing trend of discussing procedures, even if it is selective initially.' The expert added: 'It is interesting when these celebrities do only potentially discuss certain procedures, perhaps the smaller or more subtle procedures that they've carried out, and don't necessarily reveal everything that they've had done. 'So, although it is not being completely honest and open, I do think this partial wave of honesty is a step in the right direction. 'All in all, I am very grateful that this seems to be a move towards being more vocal about treatments that celebrities have had, and I think this should only encourage more people to come forward. He concluded: 'It'll help remove the stigma associated with cosmetic treatments and also will help ensure that patients have realistic expectations.'
