Football stadium alcohol ban to be lifted in Ayr United pilot
A pop-up bar will be set up for a limited number of fans in the disability section of the Main Stand. For a ticket costing £35, they will be able to have up to four pints of beer before the match and a further pint during half-time.The supporters will not be able to view the pitch while in the pop-up bar, which is also not open to under-18s.
A spokesperson for Ayr United said: "We hope this initiative will add to the enjoyment of the matchday experience for supporters." The club added: "It is hoped that these events will provide the SPFL and local stakeholders with comfort in the club's ability to sell alcohol safely within the stadium."It was revealed in March that the Scottish government and Police Scotland would consider allowing pilot projects lifting the alcohol ban in stadiums. Some fans have long campaigned for a change in policy, arguing that the alcohol ban in football is unfair as rugby fans are allowed to drink alcohol at games at Murrayfield and Hampden.First Minister John Swinney previously said he was "not sympathetic" to lifting the ban, telling reporters: "We've got a set of arrangements in place just now that work."

Rollie inspired to push for Lions recognition
Chloe Rollie says the British and Irish Lions' series win in Australia has fuelled her desire to be part of the inaugural women's tour in first female Lions squad will head for New Zealand in two years' time and Scotland full-back Rollie would love to be part of that historic says watching Andy Farrell's Lions – featuring the likes of Scotland's Finn Russell, Sione Tuipulotu, Huw Jones and Blair Kinghorn – defeat the Wallabies this summer gave her a taste of what might be possible in her own future."I think in the past it's not really had that effect because it was it was never an opportunity that we thought we were going to have," Rollie told the BBC Scotland Rugby Podcast."Now watching it and seeing all the different nations coming together and performing as a team, it really pushes you to want to do that as well."I would say it's probably the pinnacle of your career. It's definitely a target that I personally want to push for."Looking at the men's side, there was a lot of Scots in it and that makes us really proud as a nation and I think there's no reason why that can't be the same in the women's side."We're a small nation but that doesn't matter, we still want to strive to be the best of the best of world rugby."

Mackay tips 'impressive' Gray to attract suitors
Hibs sporting director Malky Mackays says "there will be suitors" for David Gray if he continues to impress as head skipper Gray, 37, recovered from a nightmare start last season - one win in their opening 14 Premiership games - to steer Hibs to a third-place term, Gray's side took Midtjylland to extra time in Europa League qualifying and then won 2-0 away to Partizan Belgrade to bolster hopes of reaching the Conference League."It really is such a tough job for a young head coach these days, how little time they get to actually bed in but I think David has handled it really well," said Mackay."No matter how you're feeling, projecting calmness makes a big difference and David's been very impressive in terms of that. I know that if we continue to do well, there will be suitors in for him. That's just life."But I would rather that than us not doing well. I think he's done a great job, and long may it continue that he's here."Hibs were bottom of the table almost four months into last season but Mackay was always convinced the club had made the right managerial choice in Gray."I did an extensive two-and-a-half-hour interview way back when we were actually deciding who was going to be the new head coach and he really impressed me that day," Mackay added."We had a new young head coach settling into his job, who was having to deal with the flux of incomings and outgoings of a squad that had been pretty unbalanced over three years with three managers and was finding his own team."It was always going to take time. I'm fortunate that our ownership and the board gave him that time when he was under a lot of pressure. From a sporting director's point of view, where you've actually got context, you can show that to a board of directors."That's where you could see that we had the players, that training was really high quality. We had sending-offs, missed penalties and teams were winning games with five minutes to go, so there were lots of contributing factors that made you think when this settles down, we've not been playing that badly."As the season went on, you then really started to see his tactical awareness. I'm really delighted for him because he's a really good front for our football club."

Motherwell fans back 'massive talent' Miller to 'blossom' in Serie A
We asked for your views on Lennon Miller after the Motherwell midfielder flew to Italy for a medical prior to a reported move to what some of you said: Stuart: I am delighted to see Lennon spread his wings and move abroad. Italy has proven to be a positive place for several Scots. Also delighted he's not moved to either Old Firm. Decent fee and hopefully we have put a sell-on clause in there Fantastic move for Miller. Playing in Serie A can only benefit his progression as I believe he will still play a lot of first-team football. He's a massive talent and with the right move at this stage in his career it can only benefit him and the Scotland national team. Wish him every Although sorry to see Lennon go I wish him all the best. He has been a real asset to the club. He is an outstanding player with an instinctive talent for football and it has been a joy to watch him play. Hopefully, he will continue to blossom at his new club and the Scotland squad. Good luck!Gary: It's a great move for the lad, he follows great Scottish talent heading out to play in Serie A and will grow as a player. Glad the saga is over from a Motherwell perspective, we can now look to invest the funds back into giving Jens Berthel Askou attacking options. Top six is back on!Ross: Miller is a fantastic talent and will go far in the game if he keeps his head down and concentrates on his football. It's also clear to me that he has a supportive family behind him with experience that will help him. I'm happy for him to make a move up the ladder so long as his value is met and the club benefits Miller has been a godsend to Motherwell and we will miss his presence around Fir Park. He's been class since the moment he played and was amazing with my children as well, always happy for photos and autographs and the fame never bothered him, he just wanted to play football. So gutted he is going but great to see him progress in his career. Thank you Lennon.
