Locksley Resources (ASX:LKY)
Locksley Resources rose to the top of the charts today with a 42.42% gain after announcing that it had mobilised its exploration team to its Mojave antimony and rare earths project in California.
It follows on the company appointing experienced geologist and geophysicist Allister Caird in mid-May 2025 to lead its critical minerals strategy.
Field work to be carried out by the team includes confirmation and pegging of drill collar locations, follow-up outcrop mapping and rock chip sampling across antimony, REE, polymetallic, and copper prospects, and additional surface geochemistry and further structural mapping.
Subject to permitting approvals by the US Bureau of Land Management, the company then expects to start reverse circulation drilling in the September 2025 quarter.
This will consist of six planned holes at the El Campo prospect and three holes at the Desert antimony mine, a historical commercial-scale producer.
Mojave is immediately adjacent to MP Materials' high-grade Mountain Pass mine and processing facility – the only active rare earths processor in the US that produces 15% of the global REE supply.
The project is prospective for valuable magnet REEs such as neodymium and praseodymium, as well as antimony with rock chips having returned grades of up to 17%.
G50 Corp (ASX:G50)
(Up on no news)
While G50 has no announcements out today, it had kicked off a Phase 2 RC drilling program at its Golconda project in mid-March 2025 and the share activity might be on expectations that results will be available soon.
This drilling was aimed at following-up on a high-grade gallium discovery to determine both depth and strike extent while collecting samples for ongoing mineralogy and metallurgical testwork.
Gallium is highly valued for its use in semiconductors, transistors, LEDs, computer chips and defence applications.
The drill program was also intended to follow up on high-grade precious metal intersections from 2023 such as 25.9m grading 157g/t silver and 0.7g/t gold from a down-hole depth of 61m and 18.3m at 122g/t silver from 117m.
Additionally, holes will test new precious metals and strategic minerals targets to the northwest and southeast of the existing known mineralisation.
G50 has also engaged SGS Canada to start initial mineralogy and metallurgical testwork for the high-grade gallium halo at Golconda.
Heavy Rare Earths (ASX:HRE)
(Up on no news)
HRE is up some 20% (at the time of writing) on no new news but the rally likely ties back to earlier widespread and high-grade uranium-scandium-REE findings at the Radio Hill asset in South Australia.
Up to 9,068 ppm uranium oxide, 936 ppm scandium oxide and 18,899ppm TREO was received from reconnaissance rock sampling, with the new results building on earlier reported high-grade rock assays.
Although Radium Hill was Australia's first major uranium mine, the by-product scandium and rare earth opportunity has never been fully evaluated.
HRE says the scandium grades compare favourably with leading Australian scandium resources such as West Cobar Metals' 12Mt Newmont deposit, containing 158ppm scandium oxide, and Rio Tinto's 35.6Mt Burra, comprising 621ppm scandium oxide.
With no major exploration since 1961, HRE is building a modern geological model of Radium Hill's uranium-scandium-REE system to guide drilling in the second half of the year.
Fieldwork is planned to follow up these anomalous zones as a matter of priority.
Trigg Minerals (ASX:TMG)
(Up on no news)
TMG shares have continued to rise from May 21 when the company announced it was hiring antimony downstream expert Wiehann Kleynhans to spearhead downstream and smelting processes at the recently acquired Antimony Canyon project.
Kleynhans – a vastly experienced geologist, resource and commodity analyst and dealmaker with deep knowledge of the antimony sector – was head of business development at Strategic & Precious Metals Processing in Sohar, Oman between 2021 to 2024.
During this time, he was instrumental in driving expansion and growth of international sourcing and supply chains for raw antimony as a member of the executive management team.
This included playing his part in the development of the largest antimony smelter outside China and Russia.
As the company's vice president, US downstream operations, Kleynhans will develop a strategy for North America, which will include options for downstream processing, forming partnerships with key industry and government players in North America as well as identifying and negotiating possible offtake agreements with international antimony traders.
He will also assist the company with obtaining US government funding for exploration and development while assisting with due diligence on future antimony projects.
Antimony Canyon is the largest and highest-grade antimony project in the US with a non-JORC resource estimate of 12.7Mt at 0.79% antimony, or 100,300t of contained antimony.
It includes several historical producing mines such as Emma, Mammoth and Nevada.
Aurumin (ASX:AUN)
Early this week, Aurumin reached an agreement with Newcam Minerals to advance its non-core Johnson Range and Mt Dimer gold projects towards production.
Under the joint venture, Newcam will pay more than $4m in staged expenditure to earn a 50% interest in the gold rights for the two projects.
Aurumin also has the option to be free carried to net profit with its share of joint venture costs during the free-carry period being g paid back out of net profits.
Johnson is 200km north of Southern Cross and includes the Gwendolyn deposit – a near-term development opportunity with a current inferred resource of 64,700oz gold at 2.51g/t gold on a granted mining lease.
Newcam is also acquiring the non-gold mineral rights of the Sandstone tenure for $1m, which will be a welcome cash injection for Aurumin.
Central Sandstone currently has a resource of 886,000oz gold as well as iron ore opportunities.

Trade war cuts global economic growth outlook: OECD

The OECD slashed its annual global growth forecast on Tuesday, warning that US President Donald Trump's tariffs blitz would stifle the world economy -- hitting the United States especially hard. After 3.3-percent growth last year, the world economy is now expected to expand by a "modest" 2.9 percent in 2025 and 2026, the Paris-based Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development said. In its previous report in March, the OECD had forecast growth of 3.1 percent for 2025 and 3.0 percent for 2026. Since then, Trump has launched a wave of tariffs that has rattled financial markets. "The global outlook is becoming increasingly challenging," said the OECD, an economic policy group of 38 mostly wealthy countries. It said "substantial increases" in trade barriers, tighter financial conditions, weaker business and consumer confidence, and heightened policy uncertainty will all have "marked adverse effects on growth" if they persist. The OECD downgraded its 2025 growth forecast for the United States from 2.2 percent to 1.6 percent. The world's biggest economy is expected to slow further next year to 1.5 percent. Trump, who has insisted that the tariffs would spark a manufacturing revival and restore a US economic "Golden Age", posted on his Truth Social platform before the OECD report's publication: "Because of Tariffs, our Economy is BOOMING!" The OECD holds a ministerial meeting in Paris on Tuesday and Wednesday. US and EU trade negotiators are expected to hold talks on the sidelines of the gathering after Trump threatened to hit the European Union with 50-percent tariffs. The Group of Seven advanced economies is also holding a meeting focused on trade. "For everyone, including the United States, the best option is that countries sit down and get an agreement," OECD chief economist Alvaro Pereira said in an interview with AFP. "Avoiding further trade fragmentation is absolutely key in the next few months and years," Pereira said. Trump imposed in April a baseline tariff of 10 percent on imports from around the world. He unveiled higher tariffs on dozens of countries but has paused them until July to allow time for negotiations. The US president has also imposed 25-percent tariffs on cars and now plans to raise those on steel and aluminium to 50 percent on Wednesday. - US slowdown - In the OECD report, Pereira warned that "weakened economic prospects will be felt around the world, with almost no exception". He added that "lower growth and less trade will hit incomes and slow job growth". The outlook "has deteriorated" in the United States after the economy expanded by a robust 2.8 percent last year, the report said. The effective tariff rate on US merchandise imports has gone from two percent in 2024 to 15.4 percent, the highest since 1938, the OECD said. The higher rate and policy uncertainty "will dent household consumption and business investment growth", the report said. The OECD also blamed "high economic policy uncertainty, a significant slowdown in net immigration and a sizeable reduction in the federal workforce". While annual inflation is expected to "moderate" among the Group of 20 economies to 3.6 percent in 2025 and 3.2 percent in 2026, the United States is "an important exception". US inflation is expected to accelerate to just under four percent by the end of the year, two times higher than the Federal Reserve's target for consumer price increases. - Rising risks - The OECD slightly reduced its growth forecast for China -- which was hit with triple-digit US tariffs that have been temporarily lowered -- from 4.8 to 4.7 percent this year. Another country with a sizeable downgrade is Japan. The OECD cut the country's growth forecast from 1.1 percent to 0.7 percent. The outlook for the eurozone economy, however, remains intact at one-percent growth. "There is the risk that protectionism and trade policy uncertainty will increase even further and that additional trade barriers might be introduced," Pereira wrote. "According to our simulations, additional tariffs would further reduce global growth prospects and fuel inflation, dampening global growth even more," he said. alb-lth/gil

Top 10 at 11: Strong start to ASX trading as global markets largely shrug off tariff talk

Morning, and welcome to Stockhead's Top 10 (at 11… ish), highlighting the movers and shakers on the ASX in early-doors trading. With the market opening at 10am sharp eastern time, the data is taken at 10:15, once trading kicks off in earnest. In brief, this is what the markets have been up to this morning. Global markets stay the course Global markets are in wait-and-see mode once again. Last week Trump re-ignited uncertainty with a hike to steel tariffs and a new salvo of complaints against China's alleged violations of the April tariff truce, but traders have been far less reactive to this latest bit of noise. US trade was subdued but steady, looking somewhat like a village who was tired of hearing 'Wolf!' shouted in their ear every other week. Nvidia (+1.7%) and Meta (3.6%) led the Nasdaq up, adding 0.7%. News Meta would be moving to an artificial intelligence strategy to fully automate its ads cut advertising stocks. Omnicon shares fell 4%, WPP 2.63% and Interpublic 3.22%. Tesla also shed 1.1% after monthly sales fell in Portugal, Denmark and Sweden. The S&P 500 gained 0.4% and the Dow managed to tick up 0.1%. Europe had a quiet trading session overall. Automakers followed their US cousins down 2.1%, but the HCOB Eurozone PMI rose to 49.4 in May, marking a 33-month high. The Euro FTSE 300 dipped just 0.1% while the UK FTSE 100 edged marginally higher, up less than 0.1%. US steel stocks surge on tariff hike; Automakers suffer US President Trump's plans to double steel and aluminium tariffs from 25% to 50% lifted US steel stocks even as the move undercut automakers. The VanEck Steel ETF jumped 3%. Cleveland-Cliffs surged 23.16%, Steel Dynamics 10.32% and Nucor 10.10%. Just ten days ago, Trump flagged he would approve an investment from Nippon Steel into the US steel manufacturing sector, claiming it would add US$14 billion to the economy. The details have been incredibly light – or just absent altogether – but the Administration has implied it will retain de facto veto rights over company decisions. 'I have to approve the final deal with Nippon and we haven't seen that final deal yet, but they've made a very big commitment and it's a very big investment,' Trump told reporters. US automotive manufacturers were on short end of the stick, as investors anticipate higher input costs from rising steel prices. Ford Motor shed 3.85%, General Motors 3.87% and Stellantis stumbled 4.96%. Strong open for ASX The ASX has started the day with a strong upward momentum, gaining 0.65% as of about 10.30am AEST with 9 of 11 sectors firmly in the green. There's also plenty of movement in the sub-indices. The All Ords Gold has surged more than 3.5%, followed up by the ASX 200 Resources, adding 1.5%, and the Small Ords, climbing 1% as well. The Banks and Tech indices are also making gains, adding about 0.5% and 0.4% respectively. The Aussie bourse is showing broad signs of strength this morning, setting the stage for a positive day of trading. Eclipse Metals (ASX:EPM) has fielded a rare earth resource of 89Mt at a grade of 6363 parts per million total rare earth oxide at the Grønnedal REE deposit in Greenland, part of the Ivigtût project. The new resource is 70-times larger than its previous resource estimate and positions the deposit among the highest-grade rare earth element deposits globally. The resource also has high concentrations of valuable magnet and heavy rare earth elements, including neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium and terbium. Sunshine Metals (ASX:SHN) has hit bonanza-grade gold mineralisation at the Liontown prospect, with results up to 10 metres at 31.91g/t gold from 41 metres of depth. With a smaller hit of 2 metres at 121.5g/t gold in hand, SHN says the results demonstrate the historical gold mine still hosts high-grade gold mineralisation, reinforcing the company's plans to pursue shallow oxide gold production.
