Rishi Kapoor fought with Neetu Kapoor in a flight when she didn't allow him to eat cake, recalls Vir Das: ‘Heard some chikad-chikad and then…'
During the conversation, he said, 'Cool guy. Rishi Kapoor is like, 'Beta, tera naam kya hai?' I said, 'Sir, Vir Das.' He said, 'Shake my hand, son.' When you shake Rishi Kapoor's hand, you become Tina Munim from Karz. You know what I mean? All your masculine energy just drains, and you are his heroine in that moment. So, I'm just shaking his hand and I'm like, 'It's the dude from Karz, right? Shaking my hand, and he's like, 'Beta, tu bohot accha actor hai. Shake my hand and promise me you'll keep acting.''
Revisiting his meeting with Rishi Kapoor five years later, the comedian shared, 'Not lying, it's a true story. Within 3 seconds of him doing that, he left. Somebody put a chhatri over my head in the unit. So, like that's what I needed um, to act- Rishi Kapoor's handshake. He's a cool guy.'

He said, 'I'm in the back of a flight, and like in the front of the flight, I hear some chikad-chikad happening between a couple in business class, 'You can't eat the cake.' 'I want to eat the cake.' 'You're not allowed to eat the cake. The doctor said no cake.' 'I want the bloody cake. What the f**k?' Then, Rishi Kapoor stands up.'
'He's like, 'Arre, Vir.' He comes and sits down next to me, and he tells me this story. He's like you know… and he gave me this list of guys who started with him. Then at some point, he's like, 'You're going to eat your cake?' Then Rishi Kapoor ate my cake, but yeah, you can eat your cake if you're Rishi Kapoor,' Vir added.

Saiyaara is not India's highest-grossing film led by debutants, this film is..., not Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, out earned RRR, name is....
Mohit Suri's Saiyaara has been making rounds on the internet. The movie, which was released on July 18, is nearing entry into the Rs 100 crore club. Featuring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the film has earned Rs 85 crore so far, making it the highest-grossing debutant-led Indian film ever. It is likely that by the end of its theatrical run, Mohit Suri's movie will set an impressive record. However, did you know that almost five decades ago, there was a film featuring two newcomers that became a massive hit? If we adjust Saiyaara for inflation or measure by audience footfalls, this 50-year-old film still holds the crown. India's Highest-Grossing Film Led by Debutants Released in 1973, this film was directed by one of Bollywood's most renowned figures — fondly called the 'Showman' — Raj Kapoor. The movie introduced two debutants, turning them into overnight stars. If you are wondering which film holds this title, it is none other than Bobby, featuring Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia. The movie was the highest-grossing Indian film of 1973, earning Rs 11 crore at the domestic box office on a budget of just Rs 1 crore. According to the book Cinema Industry in India: Pricing and Taxation, Rishi and Dimple's film witnessed 5.35 crore footfalls in India alone. Its inflation-adjusted domestic gross would be close to Rs 1,000 crore today. On the other hand, if we compare it with Hrithik Roshan's Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, the film had over 3 crore footfalls in India, and when adjusted for inflation, its gross would be around Rs 600 crore today. All About Bobby Raj Kapoor launched his son Rishi Kapoor with Bobby. While Raj's main intention was to recover the losses from his previous film Mera Naam Joker, the movie performed so well that it not only recovered the money but also made Dimple Kapadia and Rishi Kapoor stars. The movie revolves around a young couple who elope in search of a better life. However, what unfolds next will keep you glued to your screen until the very end.

Vir Das Recalls Rishi Kapoor And Neetu Kapoor's Argument On Flight: 'I Want The Bloody Cake'
Curated By : Last Updated: July 19, 2025, 05:42 IST Vir Das recalls a funny in-flight moment when Rishi Kapoor ignored Neetu Kapoor. Comedian and actor Vir Das recently shared a hilarious memory of the late Rishi Kapoor during a flight, and fans can't get enough of the anecdote. In an interview on the Mashable India YouTube channel, Vir recalled witnessing a funny mid-air argument between Rishi and Neetu Kapoor and how it led to Rishi charmingly stealing his dessert. Vir narrated the incident, saying, 'I'm in the back of a flight, and like in the front of the flight, I hear some chikad chikad happening between a couple in business class, 'You can't eat the cake.' 'I want to eat the cake.' 'You're not allowed to eat the cake. The doctor said no cake.' 'I want the bloody cake. What the f**k?' Then, Rishi Kapoor stands up." To his surprise, Rishi Kapoor instantly recognised him and came over. 'He's like, 'Arre, Vir.' He comes and sits down next to me, and he tells me this story. He's like you know… and he gave me this list of guys who started with him. Then at some point, he's like, 'You're going to eat your cake?' Then Rishi Kapoor ate my cake," Vir recalled, laughing. Vir also shared how touched he was by Rishi Kapoor's warmth. 'Shake my hand and promise me you will keep acting," the late actor had said, a moment Vir holds dear. Rishi Kapoor, known for his candid nature and sharp wit, passed away in April 2020 after a prolonged battle with cancer. His final film Sharmaji Namkeen was released posthumously on Amazon Prime Video in 2022. It marked the first time two actors — Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal — played the same role in one film.
