Time of Indiaa day ago
Nashik: State industry minister Uday Samant said on Monday that automotive major Mahindra & Mahindra has given its consent to expand at Advan in Igatpuri taluka of Nashik district.
The company has urged the state industry department to expedite the allotment of 350 acres at the location. Samant said M&M had written to the state industry department regarding its expansion plans at Advan.
Accordingly, the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) decided to allocate the land for the automotive major's expansion, Samant added.
Samant made the announcement during the inauguration of the Skill Development Centre, the first such centre established by MIDC.
Rajiv Goyal, the chief financial officer of the auto and farm sector at Mahindra & Mahindra, recently submitted a letter to the state industry department seeking consent for the expansion on 350 acres at Advan in Igatpuri.
Additionally, Samant said that MIDC is developing a permanent exhibition centre on 93 acres in Nashik city, with the land owned by the Nashik Municipal Corporation. He described the centre as wall-less and intended for use for over 11 years, excluding one year designated for the Kumbh Mela, which occurs every 12 years.
"We will soon develop the permanent exhibition centre in Nashik city," Samant said, adding that a tender for the project would be floated within a month.
Earlier, Samant interacted with industry representatives during his visit to the office of the Nashik Industries & Manufacturers' Association (NIMA), and assured that the bhumi pujan of the proposed common effluent treatment plant (CETP) project in the Ambad MIDC area will be conducted shortly.
Samant also announced that the country's first cluster for tribal entrepreneurs is being set up at Dindori in Nashik district, with the state cabinet recently approving the allocation of 74 acres to MIDC for the project.
Moreover, Samant assured that a meeting of all MLAs from Nashik district would be held to discuss various issues related to the industrial department.
During his meeting with industry stakeholders, Samant said the MIDC has initiated a drive to remove encroachments along roads. "We already started an anti-encroachment drive in MIDC areas in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and it will be started soon in Nashik district," he said.
