State: Justice Ganguly's order on teachers' appt had ‘mismatch'
Making his arguments before the bench of justices Tapabrata Chakraborty and Reetobroto Mitra in HC, Majumdar asked why Justice Ganguly hadn't stopped the successful TET 2014 candidates from appearing in the subsequent TET 2016 or TET 2020 if there was a whiff of corruption in the 2014 exam process. "Why didn't the judge distinguish between tainted and untainted candidates if he had reasons to believe that there might have been corruption in the TET 2014 examination?" Majumdar asked.
The senior counsel asserted there was no finding in the single bench order establishing corruption until March 2017, a month after most appointments were made in Feb 2017. He also questioned Justice Ganguly's decision to "cherry-pick" candidates. "Only five districts — Howrah, Hooghly, Cooch Behar, North Dinajpur, and Murshidabad — were chosen for scrutiny without citing grounds for selecting these districts.

The judge didn't call all the candidates from these districts, either. He chose candidates from the list and called them for questioning. The in-camera proceedings were held on Feb 21, 2023, following which the judge concluded that no aptitude test was held," Majumdar said.

HC overturns MPCA's dissolution of Jabalpur cricket assn
Bhopal/Jabalpur: The MP high court has set aside an order of the MP Cricket Association (MPCA) dissolving the executive of the Jabalpur District Cricket Association (JDCA) and recognising a new body in its place. A division bench of chief justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and justice Vinay Saraf also quashed the MPCA's directive blocking the JDCA's restoration, but allowed intervener in the case Surendra Verma the liberty to initiate fresh proceedings against the JDCA. Senior lawyers Shashank Shekhar and Samresh Katare, while appearing on behalf of JDCA, said the district cricket association was constituted in 1999. Surendra Verma was its joint secretary till 2006. In 2006, a new executive of JDCA came into existence. Registrar, firms & societies asked for information on the annual general meeting of the body. Since the previous executive had not furnished information for 2004 to 2006, the new GDCA executive failed to provide complete information sought by the registrar. The registrar subsequently dissolved JDCA in 2013. After all the desired information was provided to the office of the registrar, the JDCA executive was restored in 2014. Verma had moved the court challenging the registrar's order to restore the JDCA executive. A single-judge bench had quashed the order of the registrar on the ground that information was provided to the registrar by the JDCA late. The JDCA had challenged the order before a HC division bench, which overturned the order of the HC single bench. ‘Har Ghar Tiranga'awakening patrioticfervour, says Yogi
Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday described the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign as a nationwide movement to awaken patriotic spirit, not just a symbolic act of flag hoisting. Addressing the BJP 's organisational meeting at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, the CM said, "This is the fourth consecutive year of the campaign under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guidance, and it has become a powerful expression of national consciousness. " Calling upon party workers to join the campaign by hoisting the national flag at their homes and encouraging others to do the same, the CM said that promoting indigenous products through ODOP scheme alongside this initiative would help build an economically self-reliant India and counter external pressures. Lashing out at the Congress and opposition parties, he said that the truth in the Malegaon case had exposed conspiracies against Hindu beliefs. Criticising the opposition for spreading misinformation around 'Operation Sindoor', he accused them of shielding anti-national forces. On the voter list revision drive, Yogi said it was not merely an administrative task but a political responsibility. He urged BJP workers to ensure no eligible voter was left out. No record of 2023 letter on forged voter entries: Chief electoral officer to ex-minister
Bengaluru: The Karnataka chief electoral officer (CEO) has said there are no records of any letter or complaint filed by former minister and Congress functionary H Nagesh on alleged forged entries in the 2023 electoral rolls of Mahadevapura assembly constituency in Bengaluru. This comes days ahead of Lok Sabha opposition leader and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's scheduled visit to Bengaluru to address alleged vote theft involving the same Mahadevpura segment during the 2024 parliamentary elections. In a communication Friday, the CEO's office responded to Nagesh's July 31 request, clarifying no such letter had been received from him during April 2023 — the time period during which he claims to have submitted the complaint. "This issue is of grave concern as it affects the transparency and fairness of the electoral process," he wrote. However, the CEO's office has clarified: "This office does not have records of any such letter received from you during April 2023 on the issue of electoral rolls with a list containing details of alleged forged entries… which you have suddenly raised now." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 15 Most Beautiful Female Athletes in the World Click Here Undo It also noted that the contesting candidate had been provided the statutory electoral rolls during the elections as per norms.
